This single rendition by Maestro Corelli IS in my opinion the ultimate version of "e lucevan le stelle." We probably will never hear a more passionate and beautiful rendition.

@aaronsande Just thought I would mention that I don't think anybody ever sang the so called American songs like Mario Lanza. I think his interpretations and beauty of voice was impeccable. Thanks

Furthermore, when a singer or performer in general knows that such an audience awaits him,that kind of performance will happen.Where are the audiences of that generation to create another Corelli with their fervour.
i totally agree with you and would like to add also that probably , he is the last of the Great Tenors and have very serious doubts that there will be another Corelli in the next 200 years at least ....as well as there will be no Callas ....
I love Corelli.But,I hate it when people say that no one can do it except him and his generation.If you don't believe in the singers of your generation you don't deserve to hear another Corelli today.
@aaronsande I agree Corelli DelMonaco&DiStefano are my favorite tenors, depending on the opera or arias they are singing.When I respond to someone on YT, I prefer to exchange information, realizing that their are so many differences of opinion that are not agreed upon.Even though I'm not a big Tucker fan, I do concede that he did sing some wonderful singing which I do mention on YT.When the bashing is stated on my particular favorite tenors,most critics never mention their great performances
@vergoti20 Beauty of voice as i'm told on You Tube is subjective.His musicianship could have been better.I thought he had excellent taste as is defined on his studio recordings,where FC&other artists follow the musical score quiteaccuratelyHowever,when appearing LIVE, Corelli &many otherGREATtenors took liberties with the music&held notes&phrases longer than they should have.Exam:DelMonaco Volpi Gigli Fillipeschi Tucker Fleta.This does not make him insincere.The voice does seem warm by nature
