What attorney would want to take on Tony Soprano? 😂 Carmella’s so naive.
If memory serves, that’s what happened. She couldn’t retain counsel, because every lawyer dropped her as a client once they found out who she was and who she was married to.
@@ArmyJames they actually wouldn’t take the case because Tony met with those lawyers and it was a conflict of interest. Alan Sapingsly gave Tony the idea in “Whitecaps”.
@@andrewmartin7697 Yes however one of the lawyers recommend a colleague who didn't meet with Tony. I believe Carmela dropped it in the end because in order to to pursue Tony to give her a chunk of the money, she would have to admit that the majority of the money came thru organized crime & this would quickly turn into a criminal case. She would have to go under the witness protection program soon afterwards & wouldn't get a dime back cause the Feds would take it all. It was a lose-lose situation. It's better to live in a mansion & close your eyes to Tony's mistresses then being penniless, alone & on the run.
@@MisterMcKinney The result would have still be worse off. Silvio would still give Carmella enough money to survive but she won't be taking no trips to Paris no more or dine in fancy restaurants, no expensive shopping sprees & who knows how long will that last. I hated Carmela. She never earned a nickel and she deserved nothing
In all seriousness she's insane for saying "what I'm entitled to". He was absolutely right with everything he said in the restaurant. She could never work a real job and she knew it, that's why she was okay with everything.
Well not really that insane, she is his wife and therefore entitled to half
@@davidmellish3295 And you don't think that's insane? Just because she married a man and never worked a day in her life she's just entitled to half the money he makes? In what world is that acceptable
@shalashaska9946 in the world we live in that's how it is. Who was bringing up the kids and taking care of the house when he was out getting the money? Marriage is a partnership, if couples split then assets get split, that's how it is. If people aren't prepared to do that then they shouldn't get married
@@davidmellish3295 Yeah it does happen for real but it's still just as wrong. I'm not saying she shouldn't get something, but the idea of half is laughable. It should be a small lump sum to get her through until she can get a job. Alimony is just morally wrong.
@@shalashaska9946 well not necessarily ,take my parents for example. Thankfully they're still together after 52 years but when they met they both had jobs,my mother was a teacher. They had 4 children, so my mum gave up work to look after the home and bring us 4 kids up. My dad worked all hours to pay for his family but he never could have been out earning the money if my mum hadn't taken care of us .
That's why if they ever split ( God forbid, but I really can't see it after sll their years together) my mum would be entitled to half of everything as it was a joint effort, her job of bringing children up is actually a lot harder than my dads paying job was .
How could my mother have worked as she was looking after us ? Which is a full time job and doesn't have work hours like my dads paying job did.
That's the argument, if there are no children, then yes it's different, as the woman ( or whoever looks after the home ) could easily have still worked and earned. But when you are doing the full time job of homemaker it makes it difficult to work and earn,so it's a joint effort, with both partners contributing in their different ways.
If one partner has brought up the children then they're entitled to their share, especially if they've been married for years and gone on life's journey together from a relatively young age.
Now if the woman marries an already successful man later in life then it's definitely different, but if she's been there from the start, being the rock at home which enables him to go out and earn it's different
Doesn’t get super aggressive until he’s in the bathrobe lol. Thank you Borko. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

And in fairness, while she was obviously very spoiled and privileged person, she did also want security for her kids. She did have a point that Tony could be dead tomorrow and she has no idea how she would pay for her kids.

That's usually how marriage works, lol. They were born in the 60s, men did most of the work. Tony was a bad gambler too. The mansion they live in was built by her father.
Tony is totally right here. Carmela is a poor businesswoman. He did pay for the down payment, he did lean on the guy for the house. She really did nothing but worry… and what does she do? All she can do is to resort to violence and hurl a vase at Tony.
All she had to do is run away instead of stealing Tony’s own property

@@Myfavoritecuties "All she had to do is run away instead of stealing Tony’s own property"
The reason it was in the bird feeder was that it was not Tony's property. It was stolen to begin with.
Carm probably had a couple hundred grand worth of jewels, clothes and trinkets she could have sold on ebay and used that to get out from under Tony if she really wanted to.
@@BookshelfQBattler I don't think so. Even if Carm got all of Tony's money and property right now, it's still not enough. It just delays the inevitable.
What she needs is steady income, and the ability to make and stick to a budget. She has no job, no job skills, and isn't used to having to work. She's also used to a very expensive lifestyle and has no experience getting by on the level of income she could earn on her own.
