Shaheen's voice actor sounds like he would be a Duolingo instructor for formal Saudi Arabic. I'm glad he's a character and the representation is there, but dang..
I feel like people are scared to give representation to arab people. Like, for decades in the US they’re just faceless bad guys that the hero takes down. So giving an Arab character an actual personality is a challenge.
It's something hard to notice for who doesn't speak arab, but he does have a very stiff, and in a way medieval arab, but this is likely because of the dialogues, arab is a very hard language to translate, so a dialogue must be adapted thoroughly if we want the common arab, otherwise we get the stiff arab, which is not wrong, but for people like me who speak it, often sound very dated.

The two best characters that show true Arab features are Rasheed from Street Fighter 6 and Shaheen from Tekken. As an Arab, I respect the Japanese developers who have begun to care about the real Arabic details, rather than the racist stereotypes promoted by the Western media.

It just depends on the dialect being used within the region. As a Lebanese guy, to me it just sounds like anything else because I've been speaking it all of my life. It is an awesome language though. Funny thing is that Shaheen, despite being from Saudi Arabia, is actually speaking the Modern Standard Arabic dialect and not the dialect of the region he's supposed to be from. He's also voiced by a Lebanese guy too.

I always like him. And Shaheen has the best customization in Tekken 7. You can turn him into Ryu, Chris Redfield and the Prince (Prince of Persia).

That personality trait was already there in Tekken 7, it's just that nobody cared and the story for most of the cast was very brief and easy to ignore/forget

The two best characters that show true Arab features are Rasheed from Street Fighter 6 and Shaheen from Tekken. As an Arab, I respect the Japanese developers who have begun to care about the real Arabic details, rather than the racist stereotypes promoted by the Western media.

It just depends on the dialect being used within the region. As a Lebanese guy, to me it just sounds like anything else because I've been speaking it all of my life. It is an awesome language though. Funny thing is that Shaheen, despite being from Saudi Arabia, is actually speaking the Modern Standard Arabic dialect and not the dialect of the region he's supposed to be from. He's also voiced by a Lebanese guy too.
