Paper Mache (or Papier Mache) is one art idea I have been wanting to play with lately. And since I got an art exhibit coming soon, I figured I would kick this pop art painting up a notch!
I am a huge fan of pop art and I want more edge this time. I decided to add paper mache techniques onto canvas, and then actually paint a dramatic visual of a woman on top of the papier mache background.
I am so incredibly blown away by this acrylic painting, and it certainly has sparked a TON of art ideas for future works! I think I might do some more!

Papier-mache is so fun! Something that might be neat for a smaller piece is saved up fortune cookie fortunes! I did that on a box once and it had a really neat look!

You crack me up! I too, forget half my supplies cuz I get excited about the project. I talk with my hands & I love your humor! Love those furniture sales! Lol! I love getting messy! I paint in bare feet cuz I like wet paint between my toes! 🤣 Very cool! I love it I've thought about trying that some time. I also saw a yt video of a guy using a block of Styrofoam, some rope, & cement. The rope became a tree. He painted over it after the cement cured. Ima gonna try that too! So much art, so little time! I'm slightly worried that for some reason she still doesn't know that glue "sticks" and glue bottles are two completely different things, therefore the terms aren't interchangeable (as potato/potahto). If it were a slip of the mind, no big deal, shit happens. However, if it's the case that she has gone her entire life thinking that a glue stick is just another name for a bottle of glue (it's fascinating the things people pickup as a child and carry to adulthood if no one corrects them along the way), as embarrassing as it may or may not be, I would rather she k ow now and not continue to make the same "faux pas" for the rest of her life.

I did this with antique music sheets, gold leaf, and tissue papers. Got it to look like a piece of a villa wall. Then I painted a newborn premiere that this Italian family had . They got it for a gift and loved it!
