  • Formed in Los Angeles, Failure is an American alternative rock band. Though their early albums brought them a small dedicated following, it was their third studio album that brought them up into the spotlight. After some band and record label troubles, they broke up in 1997, but were reunited in 2014. As member Ken Andrews said in an interview, “Coming back now, it’s about the music and there’s nothing really getting in the way,”
    Lyrics:
    The solar panel's shining face
    Is smiling back on me
    Twisting off into the sun
    It's okay to be lonely
    All my missions float away
    I never trained too hard
I'm so caught up in the tree of stars
    Falling in my backyard
    She'll always be what I can't find
She'll always be where I break down
She'll always hide behind a star
I'll always dream she can't be far
I've got no Houston to whine down to
    I've got no protocol
    Gravity's so far away
    Wrapped on that shrinking ball
    I eclipsed my memories
    Sleeping inside this pod
    Patient time will carry me
On her back without a sigh
And I won't let her down
    My soul is celestial-bound
    And if I'm never found
    She'll always be
    She'll always be what I can't find
She'll always be where I break down
She'll always hide behind a star
I'll always dream she can't be far

This whole album was one of the greatest releases of the 1990s. I'm so happy they're working on new material.

So sad how time goes by and we think back to a song like this one and the person that it made us think of and how that desire, like so many others, was never fulfilled but we still have this the song and a memory of what we once felt so strongly.

Next time you listen to the studio version, 1- hear the increasingly high toned spacy sound effect at the beginning, it really prepares the song, 2- there is bongo played all over the place!

There's this feeling while listening to this song that I can't quite describe. It makes me think of how much of a failure I am and of all the girls that were a part of my life but are not with me anymore. They always go for the other guys and the worst part is that I understand why. Sorry for venting guys but I literally have no Houston to whine to on this world.
