I 100% agree. Diana's gown was lovely, but I didn't like the pouffy sleeves. Sara's gown is pure elegance. Andrew does look amazed at his beautiful bride😀
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if these two still loved eachother. I think a bunch of other crap just got in the way. What a beautiful day to remember! :) Thanks for posting.
I love Prince Andrew's "hey baby" smile when he sees Sarah come into view. They really loved each other and I'm sure they still do. I'd love to see them get back together.
Something that you see with Andrew that you don't see with any of the other British royal grooms is that he looks genuinely overjoyed to see his bride. It's sad that this marriage didn't last. They seemed so happy with each other here.
I mean Diana's dress was quite innovative in 1981. Sarah's dress style was very commonly seen in 1986. Diana's dress remind me of the Romantic Era in the 1830s. The period was notorious for having enormous sleeves.
Huilin Fang - Diana's dress is dated, Sarah said before her wedding that there would never be a wedding dress like hers to match it. She was right, except I didn't like the tacky letters A and S intertwined.
Sad that their marriage ended. I just finished reading her book once again. Andrew was only allowed to be at home 40 days out of the year, due to his naval duties. And when he was home on occasional weekends, they had their royal duties to attend to. Too bad he couldn't have got a post closer to home. Not many couples can remain a couple when they don't really get the time together to be one.
One of the most gorgeous and personalized wedding gowns ever! I hope the soon to be Lady Catherine's is just as or even more (if possible) gorgeous as Sarah's!
Wonderful Church. Beautiful Wedding dress design very nice. Beautiful Married Couples entry is very nice. music is very good. All are wonderful. I like this Video. Thank you so much sharing this Video.
Wasnt it though? I could stare at the beauty of the sheen of the satin on FERGIE and pearl/sequin accents and that lovely crown and veil.. Most elegant!
She radiated in that dress. I thought Diana did to, but if I were Diana I would have had a nosejob and then she would have beat every princess ever married!
Ann TwoShoes It didnt. They are still together. Its just not official. Phillip dont like her. She did not act royal for their standard as married so she was so called pushed away. She is still there ;)
When a lot of us girls watched this wedding, we thought Prince Andrew was that Disney handsome Prince us girls dreamt of to be his Princess, to have that fairytale wedding.. years later, I met my own Prince, I had a long wedding train (not as long as Fergie's, I wish!).. and we've been married for over 28 years. But this really was a beautiful grand wedding, she looked amazing.
Diana's dress had too many childish ripples and ruffles. Way too frilly and fussy, like someone got carried away dressing a doll. Sara's dress is a good balance, KATE AND MEGHAN had very simple dresses, especially Meghan-very plain.
Diana wore the Spencer tiara because it was her family's own tiara and she wasn't a commoner, but a member of the nobility. Sarah WAS a commoner, and it was considered poor form for a commoner to wear a tiara. She took the flowers off after signing the register and replaced them with a proper diamond tiara. Being a royal princess, she was entitled to do so, so she did.
stilla yl - Sarah Ferguson became the Duchess of York (correct spelling) or the Princess Andrew, although the latter is seldom used because it raises a few giggles, but I can assure you it is true. The wife always takes the female equivalent of her husband's title and her husband's name. In the Royal Family's case, quite literally because, technically, they don't have surnames, officially, and that is a fact.
Bonni Hall - Sarah wore flowers over her tiara. Her tiara was hidden underneath and was a gift from the Queen. When the flowers were removed after signing the register, the tiara was left in place and clearly seen. In close up photographs, you can see the tiara in between the flowers.
stilla yl: She was Princess Andrew, and she was Her Royal Highness. And Diana was never "Princess Diana", for that matter. And she was Duchess of York, not "dutchess". Gaynor: Yes. But the tiara wasn't visible, so even if she had it on her head, it was still a floral tiara and not a diamond one, for all intents and purposes. That's what I meant, ten years ago when I dashed off that comment. :)
Diana was a commoner. If you are not royal HRH, you are common. Even aristocracy. Sarah had her tiara on going into Abbey. The flowers covered it. She took od the flowers before walking back up isle. The queen had the York tiara made for her.
Andrew really loved her more than she loved him she didn't deserve him look how she repaid him he who in spite of her pas with the Mac Nally guy he loved her and cherished her and married her him a royal prince who could have any woman he wanted but she didn't appreciate him and threw it all away
I only wish that Kate's train had been a little longer, but other than that, it was perfection. All of these brides look beautiful on their wedding days: Diana, Sarah, Sophie, and Kate. It was nice to see their unique personalities and stages in life reflected in their weddings.
best royal dress was Princess Margaret i think...this is nice too.....Diana's dress was ruined by the coach ride lol.....but her train is the best of all times lol
Never ever pick a taffeta anything fabric for a bridal gown. It wrinkles like crazy and it also picks up water like a sponge. Water spots everywhere -- good thing it did not rain that day!:)
Notice at about 4.11 when they were coming through to the knave - her train/veil got caught for split second and pulled on her head. You can see her telling her father, who looked quickly back. Lucky it stayed together.
@girl4433 The Duchess of York did that for a reason.. As she explained it years later. " I walked up the to meet Prince Andrew as a commoner... When she walked back down with Andrew the flowers where gone and I had a tiara instead to reflect my new status as a Princess and Duchess..." if that clears it up...
That style of dress Fergie wore will never go out of style. No way you can tell it was a typical 1986 wedding gown! I love floral headpieces for weddings or Communion -- too bad nobody chooses them anymore.
The 80s had some GREAT STYLES that have more elegance than many of the prior decades! Definitely beat the 1950s-1970s.. Too much of the wrong materials and fashion designs created PERMANENTLY dated designs then!

It's also interesting that Charles is still in line for the throne, after marrying a divorced woman. After all, the only reason his mother is the queen, and he's in line, is because his uncle had to abdicate the throne to marry Wallis Simpson.
