Miwa-san, have you tried cooking your sweet potato in your rice cooker? I often cook it in mine in turbo rice menu. It’s done in 10min.

@@MiwasJapaneseCooking just be sure to put enough water for it to steam. Normally i add 1 rice cooker cup of water per 500g sweet potato.

During quarantine, I watched a lot of your videos and still get so inspired to cook more Japanese meals. I am visiting Japan in less than two weeks and although I know I won't be able to cook meals there, but I'm so excited to try some new flavors that I can learn about and bring into my cooking when I come home! Thank you for making these videos and I can't wait to try more of your recipes!

@@MiwasJapaneseCooking haha thank you. Basically it's an East German salad where you throw together spring onions, a sour apple, boiled eggs and pickles, then mix a sauce of mayo, yoghurt and the juice from the pickles jar and lastly, you cut the boiled potatoes into thin slices. Add salt and lemon juice to taste and chives if you like. My grandmother used to make it with white onions instead of spring onions, and my mother makes more sauce than me, she also often boils the potatoes softer. I guess family recipes evolve over time 😅

What you call 'new onion' could be the same as what Germans call 'Gemuesezwiebel' (vegetable onion). You can cook it as a vegetable, in stews, stirfrys, pies or put raw in salads.
