Telecasters do have a great tone but not so much for metal. It's bluesy and has a sloppy sound. I have to disagree on it being more crisp. You can't beat the gain and clarity of an active humbucker loaded ESP or Ibanez. I totally respect what he did in Recon. I'm sure it wasn't from a tele. Slipknot...I have no respect for those guys and find their tone to be pretty bad. . When they actually made music that was heavy enough, they used Ibanez. The sound is weak.
