The roman garrison against three Sassanid stacks:

Sounds like the AI Sassanid Transcontinental Expeditionary Force has arrived to besiege you at Londinium.
funny that this music and the will of tengri play in same time when i was playing as alans, i think this music are supposedly played whenever you play as faction with high amount of melee cavalry .
I think the intention was for this to play with 'Eastern' or 'Desert' factions, though it's kinda funny you mentioned that plays with the Alans too - with me, it's usually exclusively Hunnic themes, with others depending on who you're fighting against.
The music is also dependent on who you are fighting though isn't it?
Now i remember it, it was actually a battle againts one of the hun-like faction. Its kind of awesome if you think about it, Two superpower that make the best of the power of cavalry againts each other. The nomadic hun favor light horseman while the alan is more like heavy cavalry that is the precusor of knights.
underrated comment
First time I heard this song was a battle between the Huns and the Sassanids. There were something like 6,000 men, 2,000 of which were horseriders about 4,000 we're footmen. The battle took place 100 miles west of Alexandria and was so climactic that it directly brought the end of the Sassanids. I had never fought a more stressful battle in any total war game.
That was like as himyar (I forgot how to spell it) when we were assaulting the city of Rome and a huge Roman army was there waiting for us. And both sides lost over a thousand men and I reduced rome to ashes before I stormed the walls
@@twilightparanormalresearch186 himyar is one of the best factions to play, it's a very interesting corner of the world!
I was playing as the ERE and had a majorly decisive battle happen that in time caused the collapse of the Sassanids. It took place in southern Syria and basically saved the ERE in the long run as the Sassanid armies had been heading south into undefended Judea and Egypt where I had no armies, only garrisons. I was only just able to intercept them by force marching my armies in front of theirs to block their advance south and using another army that wasn't exhausted from marching to attack and draw the Sassanids into battle with my exhausted reinforcements pouring in from behind to fill the line as the battle began to commence. The first engagements were between some of my archers and cavalry against their own on the right flank, but this was largely an indecisive skirmish. Shortly thereafter however the main battle commenced and I was left on the defensive as the Sassanids slammed into my right flank with everything they had. I had positioned my cavalry mostly on the right flank and was able to intercept this attack but with high cost. As they began charging my left flank I folded it so that my entire line resembled a stretched out S with the right flank bulging out to meet the initial Sassanid advance and the left folding in to meet their secondary charge. By this time my cavalry on the right was largely all either dead or still engaged fighting against the Sassanid cavalry holding them off from getting behind my lines on the right while on the left my infantry were holding off the Sassanid attacks and cavalry charges by folding back and in as to create a stretched out S as I stated earlier. Because I had superior numbers thanks to my forced marching of men to reinforce me in battle (albeit tired and depleted men that were too exhausted to be properly combat effective) and my position at the top of a hill I was able to hold out against these attacks and eventually win the battle with around half my men killed and the entire Sassanid army (4 stacks) killed after I chased them down as they were routing.
It was a short lived victory however as my armies had been left beaten and bruised from the fighting and some would be intercepted and destroyed by the second wave of Sassanid armies and their vassal armies. But this victory bought us enough time and gave our generals enough experience for us to hold out against the Sassanid horde for the next six years until in 410 one of my generals who had fought on the left flank in this battle would march across the desolate deserts of northern Arabia to attack the Sassanids coastal port cities, sacking them and then eventually moving on their capitol of Ctesiphon.
as an iranian i can't pick any faction other than sassanids. it seems weird to defeat them :D
@@immortal5563 But you choose Arabians and those amongst you who were man enough to resist and consider their ancestors and heritage something to be proud of left for india they are still there true sassanian successors and unlike you they are true Iranians not some Arabic date merchant's slaves.
I played as WRE on legendary difficulty and witnessed a war very similar to the last Byzantine-Sassanid war (602-628). The Sassanids advanced rapidly to syria and egypt but the byzantines counterattacked and later advanced towards ctesiphon. The only difference between this and the historical war is that the byzantines got help from the south (Aksum) instead of north and they actually conquered the heartland which was all of mesopotamia. War was very long and it lasted until the Sassanid faction got destroyed by lakhmid separaists. Tried to help by sending a navy but that arrived late. By that time, the byzantines were on the offensive. It was an empire on steroids.
one of my favorite themes from attila total war.
Mine too, only behind Red horse
This sounds like an alternate version of "Red Horse", the melodies, as well as the way the song flows are very similar
I agree with you. For me Sassanid 's and Roman's soundtracks are very similar. They have melody. Red Horse is Riders of the East. Legions in the West are Burning Crescent and Champions of God is roman version of Warriors of Ahura. But it is only my opinion.
I listen to this on my way to college XD
Lol, for a second I thought I posted this comment, I listen to this when driving!
College is a scam for the most part.
Dude why do I do the same. I played it once in my cars audio boost without knowing people outside could hear me and people just kept staring at my car wondering why I was playing dramatic war music lol 😂 except I think I was also playing red horse ost.
@@rageraptor7127 should of yelled "OUR MEN HAVE BROKEN AND FLEEING! THIS IS A SHAMEFUR DISPRAYY!!!"
It’s cause this song is proven to decrease commute times by 10%
If there was a new film that was about the battle of Kadesh between Egypt and the Hittites this would be the soundtrack. Thousands of chariots and infantry charging at each other across the desert. Yes. The Pharaoh would approve.
Ahura Mazda!!!
Our men have thrown down their weapons and are fleeing!
Gotta give it up to the music team on total war each song has its own motif. Maybe this is just me but the beat even sounds like the galloping of horse hooves the rhythmic 4 trots then pause then 4 trots. You can hear what I'm on about at 0:40
4/4 tempo is an extremely popular tempo, you hear it everywhere from pop music to well... this.
@@kunven That's not a tempo, it's a metre or a time signature. Tempo is the speed of the music, measured in beats per minute, not in a time signature like '4/4'.

Ich hänge noch immer an Attila. Warhammer ist mir way too uga uga und nicht taktisch genug und die neueren historischen Total War Games sind qualitativ zu schlecht, weil zu sehr am Warhammer System orientiert und nicht genug Budget.
