This is a major problem with the dreamliner windows. I even asked the cabin crew about it and they were clueless

Cabin crews can lock and unlock the windows. They can even unlock/lock just the windows at your seat only.

I was on JAL 787 on Sunday on my flight to Japan, the crew must have left them unlocked because I thought they work very well, blocking all the light while being able to see out of them. I thought I worked very well but just my opinion

Very spectacular and with a very special on-board service, and with some fries it would go well.✈️

There is a control on the plane that the flight crew can use to allow you to "undim" the window, providing full visibility.

I am not a fan of crew controlling windows and would avoid this aircraft and carriers who use it where possible.

You’re not going to believe me, but I watch the bigger video on this, and at the end it said the date that you landed. And last week I flew from Perth to Melbourne and ever since then I’ve been tracking the plane and that is the exact plan that you were on. Also, I was on an international flight from Perth to Melbourne. That was continuing on from London. That’s all I know it’s the exact same ✈️ is that not crazy

The windows are not permanently dimmed. Omg. I cannot believe you actually thought that. You can undim them with that button. I mean, really? Did you think that?

The windows can be locked by the cabin crew. Omg I cannot believe you actually thought that. The cabin crew can lock the windows if they want a night flight. I mean really? Did you actually think that!
