    I honestly think that (as a singer) “show yourself” is the harder then “into the unknown” because of the amount of stamina you have to have to perform that song. there are some incredibly highly notes that you’re constantly hitting. there are so many scoops from low to high and it doesn’t get lower. it gets higher and higher plus the acting that needs to go into the song. it took me several months to even get that song good enough to perform for a small audience. it’s one heck of a song so props to anyone who can pull that song off. but all of elsa’s songs are difficult haha

      @@jodyhartke12 His mental health battles weren't the only reason(s) why he ended his life. He'd been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia not long before he died - it's similar to Parkinson's/is a kind of Alzheimer's. So his mental abilities, which he'd long been in control of even when it seemed to many that he wasn't, would have soon gone beyond his control. He wasn't going to lose that control. So he did the only thing he could to maintain control. If that sounds dark, well, it is. Personally, I never cared for his type of comedy and the way he would perform, but that didn't mean I didn't care about him as a fellow human being. His death was heartbreaking to the entire world, and to me. I agree - 'forever missed but never forgotten.'

      I know right. God Help the Outcasts is a very difficult song both technically and emotionally. The way I sing it is I sing the first 2 verses Pianissimo, crescendo during the bridge ("They fear us, flee us, try not to see us" each getting louder until Fortissimo) and belt the third verse because she is basically crying out to God. Then, "Don't cast them out." goes right back to pianissimo and stays at that dynamic until the end.

    Personally, “Show Yourself” should be on this list instead of “Into the Unknown.” Granted, “Into the Unknown” does have A LOT of the high notes that are the only things I cannot nail in this song, but when it came to “Show Yourself,” it took me THREE DOZEN TIMES of listening to the song over and over again just to memorize the lyrics and I STILL get the lyrics mixed up every now and then. But considering this video is about the notes that are hard to sing or people running out of breath, I can understand why it’s not there. But I feel like I had to put it out there cause usually I can memorize a song’s lyrics by heart in around 10-20 times depending on the length of the song and the “intensity” of the lyrics

    Theatre vocal coach here- honestly, I’d argue that Into the Unknown is much trickier to master than Let It Go. There’s less of a melodic line to follow, it jumps more than an octave on several occasions, and mixes modes, making it much more difficult to get the right notes. Let It Go proves to be a range and sustain challenge, but in general Frozen II has a much more musically complex soundtrack

It may not have as many explosive high notes, but it does have a lot of notes to stretch for, and has a very unpredictable melody throughout that requires a much more subtle buildup. It requires often unsung skills you don't see in most Disney hits. Highly underrated, in my opinion.

    Most Disney songs, if put into a proper key for the musician singing them, aren't really all that hard.
    BUT...
    To be able to pull off the "Hercules" songbook, takes a lot more than vocal range. That's why you'll hear someone sing songs from "Frozen" but rarely songs from the Muses in "Hercules". Even many professional singers can't pull off those vocal runs.

    • @chrisrudolf9839
      @chrisrudolf9839 3 года назад +6

      I guess the main reason no one covers songs from the muses in Hercules is not their difficulty (which I don't dispute), but more that they are short snippets spread over the whole movie and interrupted by dialogue, so they just don't make a song that is suitable to perform independently of the movie.

    These songs are so hard to sing that i can't imagine how many takes it must've taken for the voice actors to get it right...because you know there's a chance they didn't all ace it in one take.

    • @AldenBunagCDAD
      @AldenBunagCDAD 3 года назад +7

      Naturally, it's pretty standard for a studio recording to be a combination of their best takes. I don't know if you ever heard of Israel Kamakawiwoʻole's version of "Over the Rainbow" (he combines it with "What a Wonderful World") but it's notable in the fact that the recording you'll hear was done all in the first take. While it's not a difficult version of the song to sing, that indicates that it's common for a studio recording to edit together preferred takes. Makes sense too because let's say you nailed the entirety of "Into the Unknown" but screwed up the final note, no sense in redoing the entire song.
      At the same time though, a well trained/smart vocalist won't sing a song they can't handle well so while it may be difficult for most people to sing, for them, it's just another performance. Think of it like an athlete or a weight lifter, what they do normally would be considered difficult for most people. Their training and technique also allows them to hit most of those notes with ease, so there's no straining.

    • @dr.braxygilkeycruises1460
      @dr.braxygilkeycruises1460 3 года назад +4

      It isn't difficult at all. If you're a vocal musician, you already know if you can do the song when it's first sent to you. Then you learn it, show up and belt it out. Usually in the studio, we'll do each part of the song separately (Verse 1, chorus, Verse 2, bridge, ad libs), then they pull them all together. But usually there will be one take done in one take (called a "scratch vocal") that has the music and either the background or the lead. Again, if you cannot sing, then yes these may seem hard. But if you're a vocal musician, not one of these songs is hard. Depends on your range. I'm a Mezzo so I sing anything from Tenor up.

    Isn't "Prince Ali" more complicated than "Friend like me"? I prefer both songs in the live action remake anyway.
    "The Bells of Notre-Dame" is an AMAZING song, always gives me the shivers. I agree it's the best opening number in a Disney movie. Though, I NEED to go back to the live action Aladdin for that too, as technically, I do prefer Arabian Nights from that movie, as an intro song, but I don't want to count it here since there's a bit of dialogue before the song comes up. Not only it has my favorite version of the song, but I think the visuals are genius, as the camera follows Abu, Rajah and Iago instead of any human character or having just random shots. I LOVE it.
    From Beauty and the Beast, again, I have to mention the live-action one - as "Evermore" is an incredible vocal performance and in my opinion one of the most beautiful Disney songs ever.
    Now, Frozen... It may be an unpopular opinion, but I prefer Anna's voice to Elsa's, and the best song in Frozen in my opinion is "The next right thing". That song is INCREDIBLE. It's quiet, subdued, a gentle lament. I guess on a strictly technical level it's easier than Elsa's songs, but managing to convey so much emotion, so much sadness, in a single short piece of wonder... That HAS to be worth something. So yeah, this is my favorite song from both Frozen movies together.
    I'm sad The Lion King is only a honorable mention... Things like "He lives in you" and "My lullaby" from The Lion King 2 are splendid, and then there's "Lions over all" from the Lion Guard, that's another one of my favorite Disney songs ever, and that HAS to be pretty complicated to sing.

      Same, I'm just finding the older I get the less vocal range I seem to have now. I use to be able to hit incredibly deep notes and very high notes. Now (late 30's) the high notes are dropping off a bit.

    Show Yourself is way more technical and impressive than Into the Unknown. It’s definitely the underrated song of the movie and deserves the recognition over the song Disney tried to push.

    Personally I’ve tried to perform many of the songs mentioned. Under the sea, friend like me, and almost there are some of my favorite Disney songs. Also I think that you forgot like many half before that before frozen first came out in theaters a version of let it go was performed by Demi Lovato who, although didn’t appear in the movie did a really good job with the song

    • @Snow-Willow

      It was in the movie though. It rolls during the credits.
      Personally I find it inferior to Idena's version, but that's my preference. Demi's a pop singer, not a Broadway singer. They're different beasts.

      @@Snow-Willow different, yes but both amazing to their respective genres. Also I should know that Demi’s Version was the first to release before the movie at self premiered. Or at least that’s how I remember it.

    “Let It Go” sung by Mendel was so good that they played her version on the pop radio stations instead of the version that was originally meant for radio.

There are too many wonderful Disney songs to choose.

    I sang "Supercalifragilisticsexpialidosious" on a singing student's performance and it went very well. Once you've mastered this very long word, it will remain in your head (though I cannot speak it backwards like Julie Andrews, but she is so amazing).

    • @NeytiriPhoenix
      @NeytiriPhoenix 3 года назад

      I just want to point out that in the song she's not technically saying the whole thing backwards. She actually says Docious-ali-expi-estic-fragi-cali-rupes and just reverses the order of pairs of syllables and then says super backwards so it's kind of cheating but I think we can forgive her as she is Julie Andrews 😆😆

    Someone who is not familiar with singing definitely made this list. There are more songs on this list that are EASY to sing than ones I would ever call hard. And I am not talking about Broadway level singers either. A few of these songs are so middle of the road, people are discouraged to sing them, not just because of being done to death, but because they don't really show off range very well. SO many beautiful songs, so many, but hard many are not.

      I gotta agree, and that's coming from someone who only has a mild level of training (from a music focused high school) and just some natural talent. My younger sis has a couple of years of private voice lessons under her belt and went further in our school honor choir and she can do basically all of these songs.

    I sing a lot of Disney songs, but for me one of the hardest I've tried is "Just around the riverbend" from Pocahontas, mainly because of the difficult rythm.

  • @SSobotkaJr

    A couple of Disney songs that I personally find somewhat hard to do, simply because you have to nail the tempo and phrasing : "Whale of a Tale" from 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, "Prince Ali" from Aladdin, and "Like Gaston" from Beauty and The Beast. Special mention for "Out There" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
    For my all time favorites that may be a bit easier to sing are "'Bout Time" from The One & Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, "Perfect Ain't Easy" from Oliver & Company, and "You're Welcome" from Moana.

      I think the problem is they made Will Smith try to be Robin Williams in that remake, and nobody could be Robin. Will is a fun and funny guy in his own right, I bet it would have been worlds better if they let him do his own version and make the character all him for the remake instead of just making us all sad remembering what we've lost.

    I love all these songs and they’re all challenging, but…
    1) We gotta flip flop Let it Go and Into the Unknown. They’ve both got the same top note, but while it’s not held as long in Into the Unknown, the hard part is jumping up an 11th to get there! You have to completely switch register on a dime!
    2) Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, while challenging in terms of diction and stamina, doesn’t quite match the range and style challenges of the Frozen songs. You might run out of breath, but you’re not really gonna hurt yourself trying to sing Mary Poppins, whereas singing a Menzel song without proper technique and training could potentially cause serious vocal damage.
    3) Excuse me, SPEECHLESS??? Don’t be sleeping on my girl Naomi Scott!!

    Hey, if you think these songs are difficult, try singing Italian opera! Insanely difficult! Believe me, I know, I’ve sung Italian opera (oops! I don’t mean to sound like the genie from Aladdin!) Just take oodles of notes both high and low and fast-paced rhythms coupled with Italian lyrics, and you’ve got an Italian opera. Singing Italian opera is no easy feat! Especially if you haven’t had a lot of vocal training, or none at all. I’m a first soprano with almost 15 years of vocal training and Italian opera is still difficult for me to sing. But I digress, these Disney songs are very hard to sing

    Anika Noni-Rose, Idina Menzel, Lea Solonga, and all other Broadway stars Disney has used in their films, especially Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jerry Orbach, Tom Hulce, Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrews, David Ogden-Stiers, Jodi Benson, etc…. all are legendary in their own right. They are all adept at performing live with clarity, range, and vocal gymnastics, in general. And especially Robin Williams who could dance improv circles around everyone listed. 😊
