  • I thought I would put up a video about my recent trip to the emergency room and the costs associated with it. Plus the cost for Orthopedic surgery on my hand.
Also, information about a cosmetic surgery I had in the past In Vietnam. I speak about the cost information and results for anyone looking to come to Vietnam for medical tourism.
My costs would actually be on the upper end compared to a local hospital. While I believe the local hospitals do an excellent job, they can be busy with long wait times and could be difficult for anyone who doesn’t speak English.
I forgot to mention it in the video but I also had LASIK surgery in Vietnam about 4 years ago. I believe this cost me about $1200 and was worth every penny. This was at a very local eye hospital in District 1 and there were some uncomfortable moments when I wasn’t near my friend who was translating for me prior to the surgery. But again, well worth it and I will do it again in the future to touch my vision up as it deteriorates over time.
Also, I have thin eye skin(technical name?) so I couldn’t opt for the cheaperLlasik around $800 for both eyes.
In the video I am visiting FV hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

Omg thank you so much for this information! I was researching medical care in Vietnam. Your video is so informative. I'm coming next month for the first time. I will stay in Hanoi for a few months and then I will go to Ho Chi Minh. I was hoping to get a tooth implant and dermatology treatments. But I wasn't sure how good the medical care is there. Thank you for your video!

Glad you enjoyed it! Vietnam is a good option for some health care maintenace that is more expensive in other places. Plus, you can go relax on a resort for a week after :)

My wife used to pay around $700 for routine pelvic ultrasound about 3 years ago. She paid $1475 for the same procedure just about 3 months ago in the Pacific Northwest USA.

I have an accident while hiking to my forearm. I went to the emergency room. The nurse cleaned it up and bandage it. The bill came out to $579 and my insurance only paid $174. I have to pay $405. I am in San Jose, CA.

I hope it’s better now. Quite costly just to be cleaned and bandaged. Luckily insurance helped you with a bit!
