In addition to attacking silently, snowy owls have keen eyesight and great hearing to help find their prey. What do you think about this bird's stealthy hunting skills? 🦉

That is why owls are the symbol of wisdom because they are extremely silent to the point of giving you a false sense of victory and they are so precise to the extent that you do not know what you have done wrong and why they are unquestionably right.

Owls have much better hearing and aren't underground thus have more access to free moving sound waves. Also evolution is a constant battle of adaptation, so give it a hundred thousand years or so and the Vole will probably have some kind of adaptation

In the 1981 we lived on a mountain in west virginia. we also lived next door to my uncle. and on the other side of us was another family with kids. One day while i was on the other families side with the neighbor kids playing we saw a HUGE brown Eastern Screech-Owl. land on his fathers garage and just sit there looking around IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY . we watched it for what seemed to be forever before we noticed why the owl was there in the middle of the morning just sitting right on top of a garage. there was a baby owl on the other side a little down further on the garage and the big owl was saying something to the little baby Eastern Screech-Owl. . we thought the little owl was stuck. we watched them for a while kinda talk back and fourth Then The mama owl screamed and the little one took off flying over top of our house towards my uncles . we watched the mama take off behind him screaming saying " Go Go Go " to her baby and we watched them fly off towards the mountains. We found out a few days later that my uncle found the baby Owl in his yard and he couldn't fly . The mama was nowhere around. we put two and two together and figured the bird couldn't fly and the mama had to leave him . the mama was trying everything to help him and when they took off i guess he couldn't make it. we as kids thought they both flew back into the deep part of the mountains. My Uncle raised the baby brown eastern screech-owl. in a super large bird cage looking out some windows overseeing the side of the mountains for probably 6 or 8 years . The owl never did get near as big as we remember his mom being though . one day in early spring he took the owl outside in the cage , opened the cage up and just let him go. He flew right out and went up the side of the mountain . he landed on a tree where he could see my uncles house . and sit there for hours while my uncle was outside watching him . finally after a few hours he flew away into the mountains . HERES THE BEST PART - a few times every year usually in Summer/Fall my uncle would be outside doing something . mowing the grass or tilling the garden. He said at least twice a year he would look up in the trees and hear and see his bird. He said he knew the birds voice better than his wifes voice. He got pictures of him a few different years. He swears the bird probably never did go very far away.
