Finished this in 2 days! A new record for me! I wanted to get it out ASAP before the Underworld Saga drops. And of course, after the full audio drops, I will extend this animatic to include the full song.
I think what finally convinced me to choose this as my first animatic for the Underworld Saga was all the promo regarding the casting of Mason Olshavsky, who plays Tiresias. He has an amazing voice and I knew I wanted to make an animatic. Then again, I've also mentioned in past livestreams that I wanted to depict a sort of waltz. Because the song feels like a haunting waltz.
Also, Tiresias design is inspired from the recently released promo animatics depicting Tiresias as young. I just made his hair longer and made him look androgynous because if you look at the myths, Tiresias actually lived as both a man and a woman.
The Underworld Saga drops on April 26, 2024.
Full animatic will drop some time in May 2024.

This is so amazing and beautiful. All the design choices. The prophet actually being see-through ghostly. The simple outlines for each prophecy. Finally, Odysseus's King form. Looking forward to seeing the final piece. Already bordering on perfection if not there already.
Happy you noticed Tiresias being see through!!! Initially he was extremely see through but the details of his face got lost so I had to tone down the transparency. And yes, King Odysseus! I'll start work on the extension of this animatic as soon as the HD audio drops.
Record time indeed👏👏👏!! Its so good, I liked Ody and Penelope, him and Polites (😔) and then Ody and Eurylochus back to back to show the betrayal ... I absolutely loved that❤👌
Also, I love Tiresias voice so muuch ❤ I think its funny that in the musical he is the oldest (I mean he is supposed to be dead) but in real life he's the youngest of the cast😂
Thank you so much! I actually tried to fully animate OdyPen's dance but it was taking too much time so I opted for special effects. I chose the Polites scene rather than other possible futures for "sacrifice of men/man" because I wanted a callback to that traumatic event in Ody's life. Ody vs Eurylochus was also fun to do, from drifting apart to coming together to exchange blows. And wow, thanks for the info about Tiresias's VA! Had no idea he was the youngest, but I guess that's also why the officially commissioned animatic depicted him as young instead of what many of us thought to be an ancient old man.
@@ns2dstudios I mean I think I read somewhere in YT that he is the youngest🤭 at least he LOOKS like it... anyway, Im eager to see the whole animatic as well as to listen to the whole saGAA 😬😬 ps: will you animate the dance for it or nah? Just curious😊
@@m-wonder, yes, the VA is 22 years old, so Tiresias is also young in Epic, Jorge likes for the characters to reflect their VA's and to have similar physical attributes in his official stuff and animatics, but honestly originally the age of Tiresias isn't told, only that he is dead which many times leads us to think that he was old and died from old age, but since his age isn't told anywhere he could perfectly be young and have died young in some way, which would also make it more tragic, at least that's how I see it here
@@doloresgronenberg5882 thank you for clarifying the age!! Actually I thought he was younger than 22 (18). And you are right about Tiresias' age never being specified. I imagined him an old man not only bc he is dead buy also bc he is a seer and bc of all the knowledge he has about past, present and future. But him being younger in EPIC is a pretty interesting twist to it.
This is so good!!! I love all the images during the prophecy (young OdyPen are adorable!!!), and the design of the prophet, and a couple super cool moments like that thing you did with their faces
Thank you! I really loved doing young OdyPen. The design of the prophet, I chose to go for androgynous because Tiresias did live his life as both man and woman. Thanks again for watching and for the continued support!

The way you showed older, scarred Odysseus slowly lifting up his head was a great climax/cliffhanger.

Thanks for the awesome breakdown, Sar! My initial plan had been for Tiresias to have bandages over his eyes and he takes them off, but I went with just opening his closed eyes. Easier and still effective.
There were many choices as well on the line "sacrifice of men/man" but I chose Polites coz I wanted to depict that event in Ody's life. Might change though depending on how the full song goes.
Eury and Ody, I noticed in the songs, did seem to be drifting apart esp in "Luck Runs Out" (very noticeable there) and the only time they came back together was to exchange blows.
Not sure if it's super clear, but Ody is falling into water. Water is death and rebirth so after the death of Odysseus comes the birth of the Monster.

This was great, I like his design it's so different from the others and by that I mean no beard lol also where did you get the rest of the song was it on tiktok or something?
I think once people heard what the actual singer sounded like they started animating him as the younger man rather than the old bearded sage
Thank you so much!!! The no beard design was based on the officially commissioned animatic where Tiresias is depicted as very young. The first part of the song was from what little Jay officially released and from the part that say "...brother's final stand", that's from Tiresias' VA Mason Olshavsky's tiktok audition :D I just stitched together the audio clips.
Also the officially commissioned animatic depicted Tiresias as younger too.

I just now got that he is still saying it is Ody who gets home but its in contrast to when in KYFC he is saying he is still the same as when he left, and the profit is saying that, that version of him will not be able to make it home.

OH MY GOD YESSSSSSS. All the animation is amazing and I especially liked when the shadow passed across his face. This was really cool and WOW, you finished it in two days? That pretty amazing. I love it
Thank you so much! The shadow over the faces was actually inspired by the phases of the moon so as to convey the passage of time. I agonized with several ways to convey in metaphorically about time and this is what I went with coz it was the prettiest to do LOL the other ideas were as subtle as a sledgehammer.
