  • I fitted the two Stahlbus drain plugs to the ZZR 1100. I have heard great things about them and it ends oil spillage and the constant threat of a stripped thread.

    Fumoto drain plug is another option w lever and ball valve, made oil changes in my 15 WRX a real breeze and quick. Can you link me to where you ordered this item, Cheers, btw have a 96D , love it had a 14 as well but sold and got H2 SX SE, both excellent. What wheels are you running on the ZZR, I have been considering a wheel upgrade on mine.

      Hi, use this link. It shows you exactly where the tensioner is located: zzrbikes.com/forum/bikes/zzr1100/zzr1100-general-discussion/48827-tapping-noise-when-cold

    I don't see the point really. Apart from protecting overuse or overtorque of the sump plug threads, we've still got to deal with the oil filter change, so oil is going to make a mess in any case. In 45 years of riding and maintaining all of my own bikes, I've never damaged a sump plug or sump pan.
    Good to see the video though, I didnt know these plugs existed outside aviation.

      I find it helpful because with the concentric adjuster rotated 180 degrees I have to have wood under the center stand to lift the back wheel off the ground. This gets in the way when I am draining the oil. With this system it is much easier. Plus I am a messy bugger and always seem to make a mess.

      @@MichaelZZRrider Ohh, I were woundering why my bike didnt had a centerstand when I bought it, the adjuster is rotated 180...
      Like the handling so I'll keep it!
      Would the centerstand be in the way if you would weld a bit extra to it?

      There is no reason that you cant have a standard center stand. You dont need to modify it ( There are some 4 into 1 systems that dont allow a center stand). The internet is full of second hand items.

      @@MichaelZZRrider It do have a 4 in 1, that was my other suspision or simply weight reduction. I'll take measurments than see if I can fitt it.
      Oh I fixed the mirrors it was all rusted up its satisfyingly smooth now!
      Thanks for the reply!

    Do you purposely overfill it a little and what's your views on the oil mods? ...I realise it's not imperative but you strike me as the kind of rider that might point the headlight up once in a blue moon if not occasionally or habitually...

      Hi mate, not sure what "point the headlight up" means but in answer to your questions. 1. Yes, I always fill it to near the top of the sight glass. Higher than the full mark. 2. As to the oil mods, I have seen nothing that proves they make any difference the reliability of the bike. Some people like to do them but they seem pointless to me butI am sure other will have a different opinion.

      @@MichaelZZRrider I don't point my headlight up, but mostly because I understand zzr1100's don't like it, you can wheelie but you can't go for ages like alot of other bikes, at 10 grand the head holds 2 and a half litres, the bike holds 3 so I'm sure you understand the dilemma, I have a CRF 450r that loves to wheelie, and riding that has boosted my confidence, I know the old girl would stand up if I told her to, but my mechanical knowledge of her pre disposition makes me not want to try it, I squirt her into corners when I feel daring but I'm not gonna lie- I wish she could wheelie for days. In my opinion for her bulk it's her only shortcoming

    • @MichaelZZRrider
      @MichaelZZRrider  2 года назад

      @@myresponsesarelimited7895 If you want, the bike will wheelie for as long as you want. I dont do it intentionally for a couple of reasons. Firstly they will eat fork seals on landing and secondly, there is no doubt they riding for long periods with the front wheel in the air may have an impact on the effectiveness of the oil system, as it will for any large capacity motorcycle (it holds 3.5ltrs, mine about 3.7)
