New Order was by far the biggest studio band I could be contemporary with in the 1980s. Live, there's always a feeling that some teenage cover band is on stage. I still own the double vinyl album Substance from 1987. It was a great band, with its own brand like the Kraftwerks. Grateful for your dedication.
New Order belongs to the small group of bands which was really avant garde, way ahead from their time, and at the same time alltime classics! The fathers of drum&base, techno, electrorock & electropop
So glad that this song has returned to their recent live performances. could never understand what Saville had against this song that he couldn't be arsed to put together a decent sleeve for it. I hope the box set has the entire PFD show-- I still have a VHS of it in case it never appears again. Yeah, you could say I am a bit of a fan.
I'd also like to know. I mean, I know that perhaps this song is somewhat depressing and Bernard didn't sing it in a proper way on studio, but I personally think that gives the song a more genuine feel. It's one of my favorite NO songs.
