This year the word is "cup or bust" and the best player in the world is being outscored by third liners in Winnipeg.

You'd think the last 5 Stanley Cup winners and those two consecutive ass kickings they just suffered from Colorado and Vegas would've made that obvious to them by now, but no. This team never learns, and now they're paying the price for it.

    IMO the worst part of this situation is that they're not even the "lovable loser" due to fan and media expectation. There is so much ground that needs to be made up in their play and record before they can be given even the most modest of praise. What's going to fix it? One week of solid performances? A month of a nearly spotless record? They're going to have to take it one game at a time, but nobody is going to be giving them any props for winning a singular game in isolation.

    This is on Bob Nicholson and Ken Holland. Congratulations. you officially ruined the career of the best hockey player ever to lace them up. This goes further though. Why Bob Nicholson still had a job after letting Chiarelli dismantle the team, is on Daryl Katz. Nicholson then hired a guy who left Detroit in shambles. Expecting a different result. Unreal.

    With the right GM making the right moves they can absolutely win a cup. As a Pens fan I can remember just how hopeless that 2010-2015 stretch felt.
    That Nurse contract is killing them and it is only going to be felt even more with Draisaitl due for a big raise soon. They have to move him, even if it means having to retain a bit of money, it must happen imo.

    There’s more to life than hockey. Maybe it’s time for Edmonton to realize that it’s time to fight for more than just hockey. Tell the Edmonton government to fight for your liberty, lower taxes and prosperity to succeed to purchase in your own home to having a good lifestyle, and two embracing a community that helps the homeless helps the drug addiction and alcoholism that exists in Edmonton, and so many other communities.

    Why the fuck wouldn't you start Pickard against the worst team to initiate him? Get him baptized and build his confidence.
    I love woodcroft but I feel his allegiance to Skinner has hurt. That paired with Campbell being bad, its all around a shit situation. Yes D is bad, yes Depth scoring is bad. But the goaltending is the main issue/

  • @Ian-fb6er
    @Ian-fb6er 6 месяцев назад +1

    I think it’s mostly just mcdavid and draisaitl not performing. Their goaltending is a bit worse but their defense and goaltending was bad last year too. They basically would win because Connor and Leon would score enough to make up for the negatives. Not sure what’s wrong with mcdavid but I hope he figures it out

    Whats sad is they will fire the coach when thus was all on Hollanf, period. He didn't draft well didn't even try to fill roles needed around 2 of the NHLs best players. Toronto put themselves in cap hell with 4 players, Edmonton have any excuses what so ever. The only thing keeping McDavid and Leon there is the city they play in otherwise they would,ask for a trade. Only way they win a cup at this point.

    I, honestly, don't think Jay Woodcroft is to be blamed here. He was given a team that had Cody Ceci in their top 4. That screams lack of depth right there and how fragile the makeup of this roster is overall. Stuart Skinner's unproven, Jack Campbell is on and off, anything happening to McDavid and Draisaitl and your offense does the disappearing act. Can't really fault Woodcroft for trying to make fancy out of crap. At the end of the day, it's just.... crap!
