Every guitarist playing Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" has my highest respect. Especially when it is played clear and clean like this performance.
Yamashitas version Is the best
@@palpalonpalpalon I agree with you!
A selection from this superb arrangement was played last night at Tchaikovsky Hall by Marko. I have to point out that all the public was vibrating, shouting "Bravo" and standing with applauses after he finished. It was just awesome. Maestro.
Thank You!
Very impressive. You played very clean and also delivered the colorful dynamics of each movement. This piece is extraordinary challenging one. When Yamashita published this recording 20 some years ago, it was so unreal many critics believed that Yamashita might have cheated in recording. Your playing is a great human accomplishment.
Simply, You are a giant artist. Thanks for uploading.
Thank you so much. I love your rendition. Appreciate all the hard work you have had to go through to bring this to us!
Absolutely beautifully played, just how many appreciate the hours of practice that you must have done to achieve this level of perfection, I am in awe of you, extremely well done, thanks.
Amazing! hope more people try this guitar version is so great! good job..
They should start handing out cough sirup at the entrance
I know, right away with the throat clearing and coughing. If people only knew what it takes to perform like this.
SWEET! Thumbs up from the USA! Rock on my friend! One of my favorite pieces of music!!
Great playing! Keep up the good work and keep us posted :)
Awesome performance! Bravo!
astounding! such profound musicality... you have captured Moussorgsky's intentions very well indeed, bravo for the arrangement, and deepest respect for your skill. hats off to you!!
Tremendous interpretation, Marko. Congratulations!
Unbelievable Marko!!
In all the 35 years I've played guitar, I think this is the most amazing performance I've ever seen. I've seen parts of Yamashita's here on RUclips but the picture quality makes it hard to watch.
My God, "Pictures at an Exhibition" is hard enough for a pianist with ten fingers, but the challenge must be exponential when you're only working with four fingers - although I loved what you did at around 17:04 with your thumb during the minor key "Promenade"!
BRAVO!!!
I'm now a subscriber, thank you very much for your posts Mr. Topchii! Much enjoyed this video, you have such a clean style, outstanding performance! Thank you and best regards!
cant stop hearing this Version. Just excellent.Bravo, Mr. Topchii!
A superb guitarist. The guitar has a beautiful tone. An excellent program of beautiful guitar music.
This is just phenomenal artistry and technical mastery. Bravo!
amazing. I love this mussorgsky piece but seeing it one the guitar, Now I wish I was a classical guitarist.
Flawless incredible performance, bravo!!!
I am fricken speachless. You are amazing.
this superb!! I found the sheet music for it and contemplated learning it... but probably won't until 10 years from now!
excellent work!
@@elroxmusic No. I stopped playing. Give me another 10 years hahaha
Wow.... Wow.....
Best regards! I've never know it is possible to play this piece on the guitar! Very well sound, you're a good musician!
Wow....
really good version. I had a couple of parts in the piece where i had trouble finding a suitable fingering , and yours was excellent. Especially when you used your thumb to fret, hadn't considered that.
so badass! nice work!
I remember Yamashita's transcription.
Bravissimo!
amazing performance!
bravo!
hi Marko Topchii..Awesome..great skills & excellant rendition..quite an attempt of this all time great piece of MM..Very different intonation & dynamic colours .. God bless.. warm regards..siva..india..(guitsiva)
very impressive..such hights i can never reach but admire them,
thank so much ....
This is absolutely outstanding!!! Such a fundamental work. Storm of applause! Ukrainian Kazuhito Yamashita :)
Strong baroque lute vibes, great job!
this performance just F#@$in blew my mind. You are awesome!
Fabulous! A true guitar virtuoso with all those techniques. I've never seen any one instrument try to pull off something so orchestral (except the original piano, but the piano represents the orchestra anyways). Trying this on violin I would be dead
Congratulations !
I think you are very challenger and nice player !
Outstanding! Bravo!
This guitarist is challenging what is physically possible to play on guitar. Bravo!
At last someone other than Yamashita who can do justice to his arrangement. (even though his approach is considerably more circumspect than that of "the man himself") You have to try this work to appreciate just how hard it is to play. Both hands have to constanrly perform the most hideously difficult manouvers; there's no let up. Bravo!
Practice makes you a master 😬
I wasn't expecting to watch the whole thing.
Bravo , well done !
amazing ! bravissimo !
awesome rendition, btw.. my father brought me up on emerson lake and palmer, so im very familiar with this piece!!
I thoud that's impossible to play "Pictures..." on one guitar with good dynamic. I was wrong. Bravo!
great playing
Excellent and incredible
Fantastic!
Oh my God! Congratulations Marko! God bless you forever and ever!
ur a great guitarhero! generally, my favorits are gnomus, tuileries and limoges. u performed them very, very well! i guess, u need speedy fingers, especially at the end of limoges. impressive work!!
@MarkoTopchii Thanks
fabulous!!
Awesome!!!
I'll tell you that I judge a whole perfomance of Pictures of an Exhibition based only on how the person plays "Samuel Goldenberg und Schmuÿle" just because it's my favorite movement and I feel that some people does not respect the original meter/tempo. For my surprise (and yours) there is 19:58, but you're such an incredible musician and I am so delighted with what you did that... wow.
you should try listening to how yamashita plays it
its amazing what technical innovations he made at 20 years old to even play attempt to piece on guitar
imo his ability to convey this piece on the guitar is none other
Great!!!!
MAGNIFICENT !!!
Juste incroyable.
Simply splendid!
Have you thought of playing La boda de Luis Alonso too?
Bravissimo !!!...
Awesome
Grandma Mary
thx
Bravo Maestro
Incredible!
Oh god this looks really hard and physically demanding.
33:21 - just so amazing ! Really few people seem to get it that this part is actually a monk prayer choir in a Russian monastery ! Again at 34:30.
Yes, agreed!!!! Karajan uses a male choir at the opening of the 1812 Overture much like this one.
@yuvalll35 Yes, bydlo is a very hard movement, if you are going to try to play everything as pesante and legato as possible, like it probably should sound.
every movement is very demanding, however, the "Limoges" is a very tough task simply to process and understand what you are doing during the performance :)
thank you.
This is amazing, a brilliant interpretation as well. Where did you manage to get yamashita's transcription?
You play some fast parts slower than Yamashita (I've seen his live performance in Toronto 84) but I think that allows me to enjoy more some melodies that, played too fast finally lose their emotion. Great performance! Saludos
amazing
Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!
MUCH Respect !
I would think that the most difficult movement to "capture" would be Catacombs. In your practice of this arrangement, would you find that to be true? Since the movement, in the orchestral arrangement at least, is brass chords swelling and fading to represent light being shown down dark tunnels, the entire movement hinges on the use of dynamic contrast of those sustained chords. Very interesting and enjoyable interpretation of that movement. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Bravo!!!

Amazing
Great! A lot more reserved than Yamashita but it's nice to hear that.
Super
Listening for the first time... So far only familiar with Yamashita's arrangement. This is interesting so far.
Bravíssimo!!!!!!
Mr. Topchii, where can I purchase your music. I have been a fan of Mussorgsky since I heard Emerson Lake and Palmer perform it. Also Vladamir Horowitz on piano. but most of all I enjoy hearing MM on guitar. Thanks for performing this wonderful piece of music.
Impressed
1:53 - I know it's a common technique for cellists, but I never saw someone use their thumb to fret a note on a guitar like that before. I'm only a neophyte at classical guitar though.
... che perfomance!
@MarkoTopchii
i attempted to play this suite a long time ago but gave up at the tuileries (did learn some of kiev). One thing i think you should try out at the end of gnomus is alternating the thumbnail in order to play those series of double stops as quickly as yamashita plays it. unfortunately, doing this makes it pretty much impossible to do apoyondo on the top line.
in the first promenade, you play measure 13 and 14 really well. do you have any tips for that section?
I noticed that you use your thumb on the fret board a few times, which is pretty innovative. Did KY write that in or did you just adapt that yourself? It looks like you have small-ish hands but it's hard to tell. That would certainly help, especially with this whopper of a showpiece.
What can you say? Would not have thought it possible!
Beautiful! I wish people had refrained fro coughing and making noise there.
You wanna see him play Lagrima!
jorge caballero also plays the whole transcription
there's also this one russian guy but his name escapes me at the moment
Pretty Good, Yamashita would probably like this!
@kikkom4n I am sorry, I accidently deleted your message about Konstantin Popov,
actually, I even remember of meeting him once and see him playing right in front of me!
this was an impression of a possibility.
What is the hardest movement?
Is bydlo a hard movement?
thank you for the video!
