I hate reddit because it enforces rules unequally. That's the bare minimum of being a decent site.
Unfortunately those days are over, if they ever existed

IN R/Monarchism, Jimmy Carter (Yes, THAT Jimmy Carter), made a post joking about people arguing for monarchy, and then looking at Baron Trump. The post was deleted.
The fact that they had to choke this back until the second Biden resigned is legitimately hysterical.
Technically I did see memes complaining about Bidens age with them putting it (and Israel because of course) on a scale on Bidens side as obvious points of detraction but both and a whole host of bullshit aditional talking points on Trumps side of the scale. Classic whataboutism.

I think people make too much of a number, the real issue is the cognitive state. Biden has clearly been sliding down the feeble slope, yet they kept propping him up in front of the cameras again and again, that did him no good. As for Trump, he still seems relatively in control of his faculties, but I guess we'll see where he is in 4 years from now if he wins in Nov.
My great grandpa died at 80 IIRC. Biden is so old that he'd die halfway through the term if he had same lifespan as my great grandpa.

I hate reddit for two reasons. One, as a place for discussion, they shackle that discussion until theres almost no point, you'll be suspended, muted, banned for the most innocuous stuff. Because the mods have no standards they have to adhere to. Supposed politically neutral subreddits just...aren't, they're incredibly partisan and leftist. Hell, you can see some of the most vile stuff thrown around on reddit toward anyone deemed an 'other'.
Second, even the admins do not actually enforce the rules on one part of the political spectrum. I was for a while part of a subreddit called 'watchredditdie', basically detailing how seletive the enforcement of rules were, as racial and gender garbage was not only tolerated, it was approved, they even had that rule change that said 'you cannot discriminate against minorities, but everyone else is fine', which predictably went...well. As actual minorities don't matter, only perceived ones. They rolled it back, but that is still basically the policy, which is why there are whole reddits for making fun of 'white' people, but not black people.
Not to mention the sites so flooded with lefties if you dare point out something they dont approve youll get hammered by everyone even if its the truth. Had tha happen when i pointed out the National Socialists in Germany had seized the media in the process of rising to power. I had SO many people very upset itd dare insenuate such a thing. Thus learned if you want to spend time on reddit your there for only 2 reasons. Board games. Or Adult after dark content. and thats kinda it.

Yeah I stopped using Reddit years ago, when it was clear that simply disagreeing with the hivemind would get you banned/shadow-banned/censored in nearly every subreddit.
I only used it as a search engine, which is saying a lot about the current internet landscape.
But it won't event be good at that anymore, since they want to go exclusive with google.

Reddit is good for niche things and finding a fix for something specific from a 10 year old post. Default and big subreddits are atrocious.
Even then sometimes you'd find a question and the replies are all about something else or just 'why would you want to do that? Nobody does that, people do this instead' type comments.

SEO prioritses user interaction and user generated content on sites and due to this policy reddit has dominated search results. This policy came somewhere around 2014. Google was trying to promote more natural sites due to the plague of listicles, the technique that made BuzzFeed popular.
Just a few days ago i was watching a old show, and noticed that the guy in the show was the butt of every joke, and after a few episodes it got really old fast, so i just had a little google and to my surprise it was full of reddit pages, and every single one of them was saying how the woman was the butt of the jokes.
Pages up on pages of people seeing the exact oposite of me, and row up on row of people agreeing, and or removed comment/reactions...
It's like a enforced alternate reality there, only the things that agree with their delusions are allowed, to point that it is the exact oposite of reality...

i used to like reddit because the hobby style subreddits were just that, for enjoyment of the hobby and sharing what you love. Now its all politicized, almost every header and ruleset includes some kind of divisive rhetoric in it to out the gate exclude anyone right of Lenin. Used to frequent the gunpla subreddit but not anymore. They STILL are using a rainbow flag covid mask banner its so sad
I remember a few niche ds game subreddits I use to be a part of that got invaded by a bunch of transgender activists that would be posting literal CP to harass other subs during all those attacks.
Their were only like a dozen of us on one and we had to wait like a month for them to just leave so we could finally take down the garbage they posted.
They completely crucified the fallout new vegas subreddit during that time to. Now its crap like how the legion is some trans allegory or something.
They downvoted and spammed a user who simply told them that stuff had no place in a subreddit dedicated to talking about a 2010 video game and focused on unrelated subjects. Poor guy never stood a chance.

I learned about plebbit in 2009 from a guy who was so proud he was approved as a moderator it was the only thing he talked about.
Hated it before I even accessed the website, solely on how insufferable that guy was.
Reddit is only useful for niche close knit communities. All large subs are completely captured, and there are no right wing subs, just subs that aren't explicitly left wing.

I first got on the internet in the late 90s and I was in my mid 20s. I started looking up all sorts of random things that I’d always been interested in, went down a lot of rabbit holes, and learned a lot of minutiae about obscure weird stuff that I hadn’t thought about in years.
Reddit is a clearinghouse for all that kind of stuff for modern day. It’s all the great content of the original internet, but it’s got AIDS.
Maybe it used to be a good site in the past, but it is steaming garbage now.
No heavily censored platform can be a window into society.
If you want a reason to hate reddit just open it without an account logged in and look at the top 5, then the top 25, the top 50 or so in r/all and just look at what they're trying to push.
Then go visit any of those top communities and watch how they behave.
There is no stronger argument or condemnation than merely observing their behavior.
If you never left the main page, you would think r/pics is nothing but politics based on what gets all the upvotes. Truth is, they’re a fraction of the posts in the sub, but the hive mind is forcing those posts to the forefront

R/Pics was suddenly added back to my front page this week even though it was literally the first sub I've ever muted on that site. Saw probably a dozen "Trump bad Kamala good" posts. Kamala with "Democratic world leaders" leaders contrasted by Trump looking fat and old with some dictator. And half the comments were reminding each other that one nominee uses "troll farms" and is a "convicted felon".
Was fed up with the site so I decided to stop self censoring. Got a 7 day ban after a comment on the olympic "performers" and and took the opportunity to delete my 8 years old account.

the big problem with reddit is that these days you can't find many places to ask questions online to regular people that are still active and not focussed on certain topics .but its quite frustrating if you have a new account since they will ban you just for low karma so you need to get karma by posting unrelated things and hoping people upvote it .politics and other random rules can make things more annoying .you used to be able to go to yahoo answers or a random forum but that doesn't really exist anymore forums still exist but are rare and often have the same issues as reddit . reddit is also way more locked down because mods are mostly humans and simple bots that just filter words without context. so on something like RUclips you can use euphemisms or speak in slang or code or even in another language. but the reddit mods are quick to find out what you mean and wont even let you post things that seems suspect .so if for example RUclips deletes my comment i will just repost it in Romanian or Spanish and it is more likely to not be deleted .

Luckily I just cracked a phone I found, and I was able to show my parents the last users photos and texts in a backup folder, Bruh... A phone is no different then a computer. And the SS lied to everyone saying the kids phone was factory reset. So was mine, but the hidden files and backup data was still there and I had to manually delete that info myself. PLUS all the other nonsense and points about the recent attempted Trump assassination, there's captured video and everything, they failed to wipe out a KING, so now the peasants currently have the power of bending their truth.
My father and mother both believe it was an inside job now because of all the facts and evidences I have presented. And it's hilarious they said I should report this online to police or something, like no guys. This is the whole point of INSIDE JOB.

You have mods at subs like r/whitepeopletwitter literally pinning in a lot of posts what opinions on posts get you banned. Example: I once saw a mod gloating that he bans anyone who thinks the expression "cis" is a slur.
I don't get why anyone still uses Reddit.

Personally I think it's the chronically online people who are the most detached, both from common sense and reality in general. Being a "normie" is way better then being chronically online IMO. But being a normie is pretty hard in todays society, you are emotionally stable, have social life, have a career and a house, with wife and kids in 2024??? Gen X and above could have that life, Millenials and gen Z less and less.
Interesting, I always thought of 'normies' as the terminally online people, they're doing what society tells them is 'normal', follow the media, listen to the politicians, and do what you're told. Normies are the sheep.

I got banned the first time I used Reddit years ago bc I posted facts from a government website that they didn’t like. I was mass reported and banned in less than an hour followed by a message from Reddit about seeking help. I have not gone back since and nothing of value was lost.
this happens constantly. you can link directly to government studies/reports, not even making a controversial point, and muppets will flag you for "threatening violence" or a similar baseless claim (which takes days for a human to review/reverse). or the mods simply remove content and ban you. that place is completely mental.
