The land of extremes: endless possibilities from rags to riches success stories to abject poverty, injustice, discrimination and racism. From beacon of hope to darkness - The United States covers the entire spectrum. This episode of Empire builders goes back to the beginnings of this empire. Is it crumbling as all great empires do? Time will tell. From the Declaration of Independence at Independence Hall, through to tech solutions of Silicon Valley: America has shaped the world we live in, all the while shaping its own identity through the iconic buildings and structures that chart the nation’s history. Through bustling ports and strategic forts; cultural quirks and cathedrals of commerce, this episode of Empire Builders tells the incredible story of the United States through twelve key historic sites.

Coming from a Polish Canadian. America is no doubt the one and only true land of real democracy. No one will make me think otherwise. God Bless America, its hard working people, its freedom its values, patriotism, its help of liberating Europe and other countries from wars. No other country has a Democracy like America. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Saying that "how the United States came to rule the world" is very problematic when you consider how so many emerging countries have gained international power over the last 20 years but overall a good documentary. Thanks for sharing it.
Thank you for uploading this video! It was a hard work to create a comprehensive and dynamic video like this. I wish my history lessons were more like this, so involving and laconic
What really amazes me about the US is the smooth transition of power was not broken from the very beginning, none of the American President become a Dictator. America came to be in a time where modern democracy is still very young. None of the American Presidents extended their term all of them step down after losing or after finishing the term. That's very admirable and very rare.
USA’s geographic location, land mass and dominance in its region has allowed it to grow into the nation it’s become. Unlike European countries always at war with each other throughout the centuries, especially the devastation of WW1 & 2 has pretty much allowed them in to become the super power it is today. Now in a period of peace in Europe and the development in the Far East, you can see the gap is starting to close I think in the next century or so you’re going to see a new kid on the block in my opinion, it’s happened throughout history so no reason why it won’t happen again.
Every super power came to excit thought its the greatest in human history, there's no greatest superpower in human history. The strongest in our modern time yes, but the sand of time will eventually win and this power will fall don't exaggerate it.
I love the Apple's new HQ, but a company of that profile and significance should have something spectacular built on the East coast. Some freaky looking skyscraper on the lower Manhattan.
United States has always been the coolest kid in the block I am fascinated by the pioneers The loggers, the mine workers Back then people were physically and mentally stronger then people today
One of my ancestors signed the Declaration of Independence. 🌟 I was born in & i live in the UK but I'm also around 25% Italian with some Irish mixed in too. 😊

As a Kenyan watching this, i can truly appreciate the American endeavor, i see why the American spirit is such an infectious energy across the globe, your forefathers really put their backs into it.. Yes the American history is marred by genocides and horrific human right violations, but damn

Cool I watch this today
A COUTRY WHO STOLE PEOPLES LAND IS WHAT YOU ARE PROUD OF?
America is the land of genocidal colonizers
It's so amazing to think that this country started as a small colony and became the World's Superpower today.

So this is a documentary about the European Americans not the real indigenous people of the Americas 🤔
So a country that started as a colony became a coloniser in 200 yrs. Good vid. Love history and all the good and bad with it

You should do a documentary about the Removal of American History.
Americans are going to end up like the Britain, a lonely and miserable country that everyone hates but dont say it out loud.
Why
Great upload. Thanks for sharing.

The war ideology, brutality, treachery racism all coiled into 1. Infact the theory of the frontier inform contemporary US foreign policy.

I love USA
A bit strange to hear British accents explaining how America became an empire 😀. But nevertheless a great series of documentary!
How can you take independent from your self

What language is does America speak ?
Has there been a country involved in so many wars since it's inception?
Russia, France, britain and germany. War is a hobby for them.

And here we are now don't even know "what is a woman?"
What a joke
What ever it is, certainly not a joke...DEADLY serious.
I like how the least racist, most multi-cultural country in the world somehow keeps getting the label of racist throughout time. totally insane.
what least racist
Multi-cultural doesn't mean not racist. Recent events in American politics prove that the U.S. is sadly still a very racist country.
Well ask the native Americans who suffered
This series of documentaries suck
