Thank you so much Jeff!!
I was offered a job on the spot at a big box gym but I had to withdraw my application because I don't feel prepared. This video is exactly what I needed to plan on becoming a good personal trainer!
You’ll find the right job for yourself soon! Keep working hard! It sounds like you’re making the right moves already! I appreciate the support!
I just passed the ACE exam, your study guide videos helped me passed the exam, thank you so much for what you do 🙏
Congrats on passing!
Same! I passed yesterday and his videos helped so much.
I got my certificate and have been struggling on what to do next. This has really helped me out.
That’s great to hear! I’m glad you found it helpful!
How are things now? I just got my cert
Get a job as a trainer
I recently got hired at a brand new gym in my city. I have only trained family and friends at this point. They offered me a mentorship when I was interviewed. But I am quickly learning as of yet anyway there's not much mentoring. They said they would help me out getting clients but in all honesty I know I will have to get them for myself which isn't bad but I had invisioned things much differently
I’m sorry that you’re not getting what you were promised. I would definitely make sure that you ask questions and ask for support where you need it.
Jeff I'd love to pay for a course/see a video in depth on how to acquire new clients on your own. I'm an experienced personal trainer with good knowledge (2 years training), but since going out on my own I've found it difficult to find new clients. I've tried Facebook ads, thumbtack, etc. But I've not made any progress so far.
Hey Jacob, thanks for reaching out! We’re likely going to create a course on that in the future. We’re a pretty long way away from that right now though.
We do offer some mentorships right now, and that may be worth your while, but that’s totally up to you.
For me to help you out I’d need to know more. What kind of training business are you looking to run?
Also, if you haven’t checked out this video yet, it may answer some questions that you have: ruclips.net/video/eUQVpvZPLlU/видео.html
Thank you for your videos but most of all for answering questions in the comments. I’ve been going back and forth for years on the idea of personal training and your channel is so informative and asks/answers all the questions I’ve had going on.
That’s great to hear! I’m glad you’re finding our content helpful!
Forever grateful for your content Jeff//
Very helpful and insightful 👏🏾
Thank you! I’m glad that you found the content helpful!
thanks for all your help brother
Happy to help!
So glad i found your channel!
Thanks for that! I really appreciate it!
Thanks Jeff! Passed my NASM CPT a couple of weeks ago and have held the AFAA Group Fitness Cert since 2018. Love all your tips and appreciate the knowledge you have shared on everything from studying to starting out. A question for you on practicing on family/friends...how long do you estimate that should take during that "grind year"? Two months? Six months?
Good question and thanks for the support! I’d say it will vary quite a bit person to person. I think most people would benefit greatly from training some friends/family for 3ish months, that way you can see some progress and change occur
This is me after passing the nasm CPT. I watched your study guides and they were wonderful!
Congrats!
@@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation thankyou!
Thanks soo much for this video!!I have my exam at the end of this month and I am a little freaked out as to how I should go about it once I pass!...This eased my mental state a lot so thank you!!🙏🏾
You’ll do great! Keep studying a little bit every day!
Jeff you're on a roll, my man!
Haha thanks JD! You know we’re always trying our best!
Excellent video! I am looking forward to earning my PT and nutrition certifications bc I want to learn as much as possible and I think potential clients like to see that, do you agree? Can you do a video on liability and health insurance for self employed trainers? Loving your channel!
Thank you so much I appreciate the support! I think I’ll definitely cover insurance related stuff at some point soon! I think clients like for you to know your stuff. Unfortunately, very few clients care too much about credentials in my experience.
@@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation Sounds great, thanks! Wow, very interesting....

Of course! Thanks for watching!
Appreciate the content
Thanks! We appreciate it!
Thanks for the content. Very helpful. Have my NASM CPT test tomorrow and will be applying your advice. I am also planning on getting my Massage Therapy license in the future. I believe I recall seeing you were also an LMT? Do you have any content in regards to advice for massage therapists?
Thanks!
Thanks for the support! I’m sure you’ll do great! I am an LMT as well! I don’t have any content where I strictly show massage therapy but I’ve referenced it in a bunch of other videos.
The assisted stretching stuff I’ve shown in some videos was certainly influenced by my LMT years. I also talk about my income, including massage therapy income in this video right here:

@@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation Right on, thanks! I just Passed the NASM exam, thanks for your study guide videos! They were very helpful!

Considering what a trainer makes for first few years it’s a wonder anyone pursues the career
Unfortunately, you’ve got a point. This is true of most appointment based jobs though. It takes some time to get booked up
I recently finished NASMs career starter certifications and I'm lost now smh.
Well you’re in the right place! Congrats on finishing your coursework!
As I mentioned in the video, the first thing to do is to shadow other trainers. Have you done that yet?
@@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation I tried this and the ones I asked wanted to be paid
Hi Jeff, I chanced upon your channel. Your videos are great and provide valuable content. I am now doing a NCSF CPT online home-study and am exploring the possibility of becoming a personal trainer as a career. I happened to see a job advert with a Personal Training apprentice position, it has a 3-year training bond consisting of 2,880 sessions, meaning training sessions with clients. I am not sure if this is the only route to go ? Most or all personal training job adverts require at least one year of experience and some stating one year experience preferred. Any other alternative way besides apprenticeship ? Is 3 years a bit too long ?
Thanks for the support! That’s a strange offer to be honest. I’ve never seen what structured like that. I would just try to start with a more basic commercial gym tbh.
Great content as always Jeff! Ive run into a slight problem after getting certified, no one will hire me because im a new trainer. Any tips or help? Thanks.
Thanks for the support and kind words! There’s no easy way to bridge that experience gap in the beginning. That said, staying persistent, professional, and willing to shadow other trainers really goes a long way. Also, practicing on friends and family members is practically essential.
What are some good facebook groups you'd recommend joining?
I think precision nutritions group is pretty solid. I also think the IDEA world one has some good topics and info. Some of the NASM, ACE, and ACSM ones are pretty good as well.
No, i literally have no in person friends 😂 and i live away from family.
I just work, lift, eat and go to bed. Im not social, which is horrible for this field 😂
Lol I hear you! My life is like that very often too. Try to put yourself out there and get outside of your comfort zone a bit
I love you and your channel.
❤️❤️😈
I recently finished the certificate program.

Congrats! It sounds like you’ve been working hard! Keep it up! Thanks for the support!
Great video. I have more than 7 years of experience in fitness industry as a personal trainer and fitness instructor before that im also a bodybuilder. And also I'm an ACE Certified Indian citizen.
If there any way or Can you help me to find or get a fitness related job in American regions
Thank you! Honestly, I would start looking at Indeed (it’s the top hiring site in the US right now) and start applying to places. I don’t know if anyone hiring but that’s where most of it takes place!
So I’m thinking of getting my NASM but I’m a truck driver I’m not leaving my field I would like to help other truck drivers get into shape do you think it’s possible to get certified and still learn from trainers maybe once or twice a week I’m in my mid 40s do you think it’s possible
It’s definitely possible! The process to get certified can be somewhat challenging if you don’t have some knowledge in anatomy, exercise technique, etc.
If you’re serious about getting certified, and working in the field, at least part time, I’d say it’s worth it. If you’re not planning on working as a trainer, full time or part time, then I’d say it’s not worth it to get the NASM cert.
Hey there! What do you think about Diverse Trainers? 🤓
I think diversity amongst trainers is great! We need it!
@@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation what I mean is the Diverse Trainers certification that they offer.. just wanna know your opinion since you are local experience trainer 😬
Got it! Honestly, I haven’t heard of it! Do you have a link?
@@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation www.diversetrainers.co.uk/ cuz they are offering some good one.. I’m planning to move to UK next summer 2022 so I wanna do my online study now as preparation to become certified trainer.. this is because my current certs unfortunately only for my country.. I’m Malaysian anyway
The site looks good! I honestly don’t know as much about the UK certifications. They are usually pretty good and this one looks legit
Do you have a IG page I don't have FB
We do!

It’s better than nothing! Shadowing in person is best though
