I was blessed to be able to attend the Strange Fire Conference . I learned so much truth. I soon left the Charismatic church I had attended for fifteen years, and where I was "entertained". Never before in my life was I treated with such gracious hospitality, than at GTY. If that is how one will be treated while attending seminary school at GTY, and I'm sure it is, what an experience it would be! I continue to pray for the success of the students running the race for the Master. I what to publicly thank John MacArthur and the entire staff for their diligence. I prayed for an opportunity to attend such a wonderful school. Being now I am in my 50's, I will continue to enjoy the videos that are posted online. I have learned much, and I am extremely grateful. May the Lord of lords continue to bless you.
I'm 25 and had Pretty similar experience from listening to reformed teaching. Your story is very encouraging and it makes me very thankful to have realized the necessity for pure exposition of the word. I was in a Pentecostal church for 4 years and was heavily involved in the ministry. The whole time, I always felt like just small things were being taught incorrectly or applied incorrectly, but I just couldn't pinpoint what it was. Thank God for his grace in my life. I'm not saying Pentecostals are damned to hell, but for myself, it's been such a blessing to understand more about God in ways I didn't know anything about before.
You’ve fallen into a deception, do not be deceived, the Holy Spirit is active to this day in administering gifts to believers: tongues, prophecy, and the like. There is no scriptural basis for suggesting the cessation of gifts.
