Keep up the awesomeness Rocket! You don't owe a justification or explanation to anyone, we're just lucky enough to be along for the ride and to follow your amazing adventure! Keep doing you and never change, you're an inspiration and I've learned some valuable life lessons from your videos! By far the best channel on the tube!
Almost crying watching your Arizona Trail. Called my friend halfway through it and really need to consider my career journey to enjoy the outdoors more especially because we have so many amazing trails here in South Africa.❤️❤️❤️
I think you are amazing Julia amd a big inspiration💜🙏🏼 Also I'd like to say TY to your friend for what his is doing to bring light to what is happening with our military men and women. God bless them all💙❤🙏🏼
I grew up in Tucson and went to university in Flagstaff, your epic hike across the state makes me homesick. Glad you're enjoying my home state and it's fun to see through a fresh pair of eyes. (And I've never smelled vanilla, always butterscotch but my mom swears she smells vanilla!) Hike on!
Your video's are awesome! Your hike is your hike,no justification needed. "Miles and smiles,it takes awhile!" Sometimes here in AZ our weather can be a mucky mess. But our Sunrises and Sunsets can be beautiful. Thank you for sharing your adventure!
Your hike, your way, no justification needed. In the end, did you enjoy the experience, did you learn something new, did you do something dangerous, or whatever.....making it through and loving the journey, to me, IMO, is ALL that matters.
Hell yes....it is your hike and a dam good hiker you are...great video Rocket....its not always fun but you make it tolerable...love your attitude....keep on keepin on Julia.....hey I just watched a really cool documentary about 4 young cowboys on Mustangs that rode from mexican border to Canada...they followed the Arizona Trail all the way thru Arizona....the movie is called " unbranded " they have an epic adventure spanning several months...you might take a look if you get the chance....I watched it free on RUclips....stay safe...have fun !!!
It sucks that you feel you do need to justify your actions. It's a human response though. Know that most of the people watching support you in hiking your own hike, and you enjoying this experience that you are sacrificing a lot to undertake. Love your honesty and perseverance throughout!
Nothing wrong with skipping a mud-slush section, imo. Besides the abnormal difficulty of it, that present trail condition seems like a safety problem. Happy trails!
Anyone that walks/hikes from Mexico to Utah, irrespective of the actual trail, has cred in my book. As another utuber says "You do you, I do me" Safe travels Rocket and friends.
I’m very much enjoying you and your videos. Good decisions! Ponderosas sometimes smell to me like pineapple or strawberries, but those are trees on the north side of the Grand Canyon on the Kaibab plateau in August. Let us know how they are in Spring when you get there. Walk, Woman!
Try this Mug-ee-on Rim. Fellow AF Vet, Native American born at Davis-Monthan AFB here. I was also stationed at Luke AFB a few years so I’m very familiar with hiking and camping in AZ. I was happy to see someone smart enough to do the the obvious and melt snow for water. I’ve followed another RUclipsr that constantly pans the camera around complaining about lack of water and there’s snow all over the place. From what I’ve seen everyone including that other YT guy that dogged you about skipping miles, road walked the same section you did. Unless you’re into extreme survival and have snow shoes there’s no sense in it. Enjoying the trail through your eyes-Aim High!
Until someone is next to me on trail.... they can dog me about whatever they want. It only really matters if they are in the same shoes as me! Cheers mate!!
Any plans to come back to the AZT and section hike the 80 miles you skipped to Flagstaff? "Jay Wanders Out" mentioned bumping into you in his Day 43 video 19:16 mark. I think his Day 35 video illustrated the weather in the area; kinda scary and I actually got worried watching his video but remembered he did upload. I agree conditions weren't the best at the time. You definitely started the AZT two weeks too early. PS. Your "Into the Wild: My Journey on the Appalachian Trail" inspired me to do the AT in the future so thank you for the inspiration. Keep on trekking! :-)
Yep, these are the good times . . . sniffing trees, etc. Something about that reminded me of a way to help distinguish pine species in areas having different types. The best way to tell a Ponderosa from a Jeffrey pine is from the cones (gentle Jeffrey, prickly Ponderosa), as they have similar looking bark and needles. But it's actually the Jeffrey which has the more fruity-smelling bark . . . however, of the two, only the Ponderosa is found as far east as the AZT.
Not sure why but your last 4 videos only show up at the end of the one before it, not showing on your page listing. Lots of folks are probably not seeing they’re available.
That is her plan. She says it's the reward for those who watch to the end of the video. 👍 It will probably be a few weeks before everyone else sees it.
Really mean not to list these videos. However, I hope you find time to do a longer one at the end, like from the AT. And I can't get over it, somebody has the guts to shoo your crew away from a camping site. I am sure I am not the only one here, who would gladly sleep on top of a cactus, as long as it would make your life easier.
HYOH, girl. You DON'T have to justify your actions. It's your hike - roadwalk, don't - it's your time and experience. But maybe also withhold the judgement...seems unnecessary to call anyone who wants connected footsteps or to hike every mile of trail "elitist".
@@Justusson can't tell if you're taking the piss or not, but i'll answer as if this is an honest question: HYOH is an acronym for "hike your own hike" (:
@@29028ft No piss or duke, I honestly never heard of it (Swedish myself, so,..). I thought it might possibly have been a greeting phrase misspelled and with caps? But I figured an acronym was the most likely one,.. 😉 Thanks though,.. 👍
Elitist is literally the term used for someone who feels the need to make a connected footprint. Its not judgmental at all. Its just the term used to describe it. I would never judge anyone on how they choose to hike.
Thank you for hiking for veterans suicide awareness. My brother James Lee loved to hike and was a Marine whom took his own life. I miss him

Wow it really looks like the trail is giving you a hard time out there.
I hope your friend does hiker videos on his future tracks. You hike your hike don’t worry about what others say, at least your honest about it.
"Much Fun", as on the A.T. love watching you, hike on. Dave.
No sniffing salts for you Rocket, Ponderosa Butterscotch should be marketable, just love your upbeat/direct style. Rocket on please..........
Been following you for a long time. Jeez you walk fast! HYOH, right?
Used to love smelling the trees in Wrightwood during the spring. What’s your boys social media name he’s using fir his cause?

Mogollon Rim is pronounced "Moe-gi-yon"...FYI
Every Arizonan pronounces it differently! I did my best!
