    I like the ideas used in the brooder. How heavy is it to open?

    • @official180degrees
      @official180degrees  4 года назад +1

      We've setup a block and tackle to make it easy. If I were to build another one or if I had not had the steel roof, I would use polycarbonate and it would lighten it up significantly.

    • @ericjohnson1008
      @ericjohnson1008 4 года назад

      @@official180degrees I was thinking about that..as a kid we lived in Marquette Michigan. My dad built a roof for our rabbit hutch. Problem was that it took two people to open it. LOL

    • @official180degrees
      @official180degrees  4 года назад +1

      Yeah, it's heavy with the steel. I can lift it but Sarah can't and the kids can't. It's 100% just because of the steel though. If we switched out to aluminum or polycarbonate it'd be just fine. The general design is sold. I'm really happy with it.

      We used to live in the Keweenaw! I ran to Marquette to shop once a month or so. LOL. Two hour drive to everywhere up that way. Still miss it a bit.

    Where do you get your chickens processed? Or do you do it yourselves?

    • @official180degrees
      @official180degrees  4 года назад

      We're looking at processing through a local guy who has a mobile setup. His prices are a bit steep IMO. $5/bird. Otherwise we'll do them ourselves though we've never processed this many birds before. Part of me wants to just hire the mobile processor but at nearly $500, I think maybe I'll just step up our processing game and invest in more equipment.

Love being on the farm not so much ER. .... love you guys, Lisa moneypit homestead

    It makes perfect sense! 😂Glad to get a shot of the family! Everyone has grown so much, Auggie is talking well and a Daddy's helper too. Sarah, I have chicks inside from the broody mommas' eggs they left and my heart couldn't just toss them soooo I have chicks from 2 weeks old to 2 days old and Vow never to do it that way again. I even turned off the incubator and the next morning 2 eggs were hatching in the "cold" turned it back on and 2 more hatched. Crazy! Now I can't even chance putting them out with the others because there is 2 weeks difference in the biddy's ages. Sheesh! The smell is getting old but I don't have power out there and I am not comfortable putting them out in the brooder without heat. Ethan, you look good with the hair cut but I did like it long. I am sick of my hair now too so I think I am cutting mine short! Until we see ya again, later! 💞
