Do you have any concerns w the rubber maid one leeching chemicals into the water? Or seen anything on this? I find the Rubbermaid to be more comfortable because it’s not straight up and down
@@yynnoootI’m sure it will, man. I would be personally either fiberglass epoxy the interior or use the zero VOC “Pond Shield” product from Pond Armour. The Rubbermaid will NOT hold up to ozone. That’s already aside from what ever nasty chemicals comprise the Rubbermaid. 🤷🏻
@@yynnooot I don't think it would or even can. What i did when i got mine Rubbermaid Tank , was wash inside and out. I let it dry Then put 3 heavy coats of Amour All inside and out even on the bottom. Boy it drank it up
I want to get a 100 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank (poly) to keep outdoors for my cold plunges, however I'm worried that it will crack in extreme cold (temps of -20 to -30 degrees Celsius). If it's just the surface of the tank that freezes over, I'm fine with that I'll break it up, but do you think it would freeze straight through to the bottom? And if it didn't freeze on the surface do you think it would crack the tank? Thanks !
If your temperature is in the 90's frozen water bottles are not going to get your tank water even cool. The ice will melt. I doubt the 80's are going to be cooled by frozen water either. I'd do my cold plunge at night but here again for hot weather states very little cooling of the water. High 70s at best.
I mean… You “can,” but it definitely will not stand up to the test of time. It will likely rapidly degrade your Rubbermaid and leech more chemicals than it ought to. Unless it’s made from PVC it’s likely to have a poor ozone grade. 🤷🏻
I have a basement that is consistantly a 50-60F year round, and I'm wondering is a 1/10 hp chiller can keep 100 gallons of water in the mid 40F's. Do you think this is possible, or should I go with the 1/4 hp? Thank you!
I found that insulation all around the tub/tank, including a solid top cover makes all the difference. I'm using a 1/4 HP Active Aqua which i bought used, and it keeps my 70 gallon tub at 49 with the temp in the location being around 70. Not sure how it'll work this summer. Suggest looking for a used chiller, insulate the tub and simply try it out....
Just like the above post said. I would personally get obsessed with sealing around whatever stock tank you decide to go with. Not only that, but make a hyperinsulated airtight lid for it as well. It’s also worth mentioning that will insulation, “more is more.” Meaning that the thicker you’re willing to go with your insulation the higher the R-value of the enclosure. The higher the R-value the easier it will be to maintain temperatures. The easier it is to maintain temperatures the less you’ll have to run your chiller. The less you run your chiller the more you’ll save on electricity! There’s literally no reason not to hyperinsulate all the way around, underneath, and create a badass lid. It’ll always pay off in electricity savings.
This cut down on pool supplies, and water. Every 4 days i drain it, on my lawn. This saves on water. I have plenty of room for 2 people. he hee There NICE! i only put 30 gal of water in it to be PERFECT HEIGHT
anyone have any experience painting the inside of the Rubbermaid tanks? i have decided to go in that direction but i would live the inside to be white!
Anyone concerned about the chemicals (BPAs) in the Rubbermaid tanks? I would love to see a chemical analysis of the water in a tank that has been in use for a while. You can literally smell the plastic as they break down over time.
For a fast easy set up for this summer was A 100 gal Rubbermaid stock tank. I dearly love it 👍👍💧💧🌊🌊💧💧🌈🌈
for sure!
Thank you for making this video! Super helpful!
You bet! Glad to hear it.
I want a small tank for someone 5'6 and around 50 gal- all these XL....
V3 tub info!! lol thank you for all you do.

I prefer a galvanized stock tank lined with pond shield. It’s a cleaner look and feel than the rigid variations in the rubber made molded tanks.
I really like the look of galvanized! How did the pond shield go on?
Which tank/insert did you use for your lux V3 setup? Sorry to not see it mentioned here.
It's a 112 gal HDPE Tamco Tank
What did you pay for that tamco?
is it possible to ground the water in a plastic container???

@@DIYColdPlunge So you're not concerned that the rubber made, which is plastic, can leech chemicals into the water?

Also forgot to mention I'd keep the the tank covered with a sheet of plywood or some plastic cover
You'll want a stock tank heater and to keep it covered. it will freeze solid based on what you are describing
What about durability through breaking up the ice during winter. Ever had the Rubbermaid break chip?
I haven't had a rubbermaid chip, I have seen a few folks put axes through tanks though!
I use the galvanized and I had it sprayed with bedliner!!!!
Nice!
I was thinking of doing that hows it holding up? Any tips?
When do you plan to walk through your latest version?
As soon as it's ready! finalizing the plumbing plans for 3 different chillers now.
How long does it take in the summertime to get hose water cold in the 100gal stock tank with a case of water bottles?
Depends on where you live. Hose water can range from 80 degrees to 50 degrees to start with.

Does rubbermaid make a 200 gallon tank?
No
Do you think using nested Rubbermaid tanks with foam in between is a good insulation option? Place 2x4s in the base to give a good standoff?
Yep, that's pretty much how I've done it. I have a few videos on here showing how 👍 ruclips.net/video/zr-xzkrAuBI/видео.html

Do you know if there is an adapter that fits the Rubbermaid stock tank drain to a garden hose? Thanks.
You'll need a 1-1/4" to 3/4" reducer and then you should be able to add a spicket to the 3/4" thread 👍
can I keep the stock tank rubbermaid under the bright harsh sunlight of new mexico? would the plastic be affected by the ultralight rays?
That's a good question. They're made to be outside, and if you enclose and cover it I would guess it'd be fine
I just want to know how much you did this all for?

I personally do, it's basically hassle-free

Get a cover for winter is #1! Then its up to you to prioritize insulation, pump, filtration/saniation and chiller if you want to go that route
Prioritize in that order? Insulation first, then find a pump?
Where can I go buy these stock tanks Home Depot doesn’t carry
