  • 染色技法は8世紀から伝わり、手描友禅は江戸時代に京都の絵師宮崎友禅斉によって確立されたと伝えられています。扇絵師として人気の高かった宮崎友禅斉が、自分の画風をデザインに取り入れ、模様染めの分野に生かしたことで「友禅染め」が生まれました
    It is said that yuzen was developed by a folding fan painter of Kyoto, Miyazaki Yuzensai, who introduced pictorial designs into the textile art.

    This is an excellent example of when RUclips really creates intercultural value. I would never have seen this unless I traveled to Japan, which I can't due to chronic illness. I was mesmerized from the very start of how amazingly skilled these artists and craftsmen are. I would love to buy such a beautiful piece of fabric, so it could decorate the wall above my couch instead of a traditional framed picture. Please, make more of these types of videos.

    Incredible beauty from highly skilled artisans. It's an honor to witness a glimpse of the hard work,dedication,and mastery displayed in this art form. My only regret is that this video wasn't longer so viewers can truly appreciate the various artisans and skills used to create such glorious works of art. Thank you for sharing these videos on RUclips so current and future generations can appreciate and be inspired by these highly skilled artisans and their craft. Stay safe and be well.

      Sadly, the young generation’s focus and attention span is being destroyed by smartphone & time wasting social media. Craftsmanship required a lot of practice and patience to master. Without extreme focus, you can’t produce quality work like this, regardless of it being art or not. I want to be proven wrong...of course.

    • @Burning0Lilac
      @Burning0Lilac 5 лет назад +9

      Also this generation is poor and no one teaches them anymore. We have the patience and the will but not the means or the master to learn from.

    • @verybarebones

      the younger generations need to pay rent in a job market that has been ruined by the corporate interests of older generations. And this doesn't pay rent.
      If someone young wants to be an artisan they'll be called stupid liberal and get told to study medicine or engineering.

      handcraft like this may cost you several grands to several hundred grands of dollars depending on how complex and sophisticated the process is. The price of a top class kimono made from these clothes could be eaqual to the the price of a fancy flat in Japan. They are basically pricy paintings. If you do buy fine art pieces then you shall understand the value of it.

    • @Deezhan
      @Deezhan 4 года назад +13

      @@user-xo4jd4ot8s That's not expensive at all compared to the profit margin that so many european "fashion" brands are taking for their mass produced garbage, that they manage to sell to dumb sheep primarily because of marketing. I bet that if those japanese artisans multiplied their cost of labor and materials with the same factor as e.g. Louis Vuitton multiplies with for their, that a kimono like that would cost the same as some country's GDP. An LV dress costs thousands of dollars, but takes minutes to make due to a lot of heavy machines involved. Now imagine a kimono that is almost- if not 100% handmade and takes several days/weeks to make... There are 10 080 minutes in one week... You can sit there and calculate what the right price for such an item would be by a "fashion" brand's standards.

    I own a lot of vintage kimono, I get them in bulk. Most of them are in too poor of condition to wear. Now and then I will find a gem that is hand-painted. These I always pack separately and save to make something special with. I reuse the fabric for crafting and art projects. I still have three kimono I can't bring myself to take apart, even if they truly can't be worn due to the damage. The work put into making them always gives me pause. One day I will have the skills and vision to give them new life.

    This is hand-died silk for formal kimonos. They are quite expensive because of the time-consuming process and skilled craftsmanship. The tool to apply sweet rice glue on designs to resist other dye colors can probably be substituted by underglaze bottle for ceramics. The bottle usually comes with pin nozzle in 3 different size.
