  • Have a cup of coffee with us as we explore some of the sounds of the Toraiz AS-1. It has so many sweet spots, and it's inspiring to start with a factory sound and tweak it to perfection while the sequencer or arpeggiator is running.
The weird white thingy that occasionally feeds it MIDI grooves is a FutureRetro Zillion, and yes, that will get a video of it's own in due time.
Hope this gives you a little taste of some of the sonic possibilities of the AS-1 - we'll be back for more!

I had an SP-16 regret selling it, but I just purchased one of these bad boys for $300 used, its so fucking good, goes well with the tone and textures of the Rev2

I wish it had 2 octaves, otherwise amazing synth. (I know you can use midi keyboards, but I just like to use small synths like this with headphones on the couch to mess around with.)

Yeah, the form factor is very different from other desktop instruments. I guess they wanted to make it as compact and sturdy as possible for a live setup, in a DJ booth or similar.

    Good morning,
I purchased a used Toraiz AS-1 and I accidentally overwrote the factory libraries and I can't restore them. Can you send me the 4 .tas1_bank files to load via the Load Bank To menu?
    Thanks for the support

I own Korg Minilogue XD, Bass Station 2 and Analog Keys and the As 1. The As 1 is in a league of its own soundwise. I kid you not.

I know I'm kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good site to watch newly released movies online?

    Sounds great!
Early reviews mentioned syncing problems, when you change presets/sequences during a performance... is this fixed?

    • @StochasticDesign

Thanks Valdis - I think the AS-1 should be viewed as an amazing synth engine with a sketch pad sequencer rather than a stand-alone live or production unit. The sequencer is way simpler than much of the competition, and it still loses sync as you describe it. When sequenced with outboard gear it performs flawlessly.

Stochastic Design Oh, so with an external clock signal (via MIDI) it does not lose sync when changing patches/sequences? Does it have a CV Trigger/Clock in?

    • @StochasticDesign
      @StochasticDesign  6 лет назад +3

No, sorry for the confusion. The internal sequencer at current state is best not used for live purposes, whether it's clocked internally or externally. It does have a trig/gate input which we haven't explored yet.

Stochastic Design Wow, can’t believe a Dave Smith instrument would have this critical flaw. Wasn’t the AS-1 designed specifically for live use, by DJs, etc? That was Pioneer’s intention, right?

So, I can use an external sequencer, like a Circuit, to drive the AS-1? Too bad the AS-1 will not listen to Circuit’s clock-out signal while running its own internal sequence.
