Seeing how Iran went in 98, they would’ve done well and under Venables and a 20 year old Harry Kewell close to his absolute peak when at Leeds, would’ve been a real unknown for Germany and Yugoslavia to handle.

日本のダラダラ守備が気になる。当日相当暑かったそうだが、それならそれで体力ある選手をスタメンで使うべき。まして、初戦から足をつる坪井は本人もそうだがメディカルチームの責任もある。あとは、守備のシーンで1 topならまだしも2 topなのだからもっと降りてきて守備してほしい。中盤のディフェンスも相手に時間を与えすぎ。全体的に日本の守備にあまりルールが無いのがわかる。
総じて、監督とその監督をここまで引っ張った協会の責任。負けるべくして負けた。
