Hi guys, thanks for this really useful video. My wife and I will be on this train in August. We are hiking northbound. Having done the Nordkalottleden, we have a resupply strategy in place from Sulitjelma to Kautokeino. I wanted to ask you, if you remember the addresses that you used to ship to Graddis, Umbukta and Sulitjelma? Did they arrive directly to the DNT huts (Graddis, Umbukta) and to the post office (Sulitjelma)? Thanks in advance
Thank you 👍l did not send a resupplying box to Sulitjelma (l should've 🙄). Luckily someone gave me a ride to a near by town where l could buy everything l needed, which was a lot ), as you can see here (in case you haven't watched the videos): ruclips.net/video/h3nz4ub6mt0/видео.htmlfeature=shared&t=20 Luckily for you, my wife had collected that information you're asking for and l still had it in my emails. Now, you have to email the 2 different individuals and ask them if they're OK with keeping your resupplying box. You don't just go and send it there without asking or unexpected/undesired things could happen. Once you've been given the 'green lights' and you're ready to send the box, remember to add your name and estimated arrival date to the box (if you can find a flashy box, a box that's different from all the other boxes (e.g. a yellow box, etc.), that could be of help in case your box gets misplaced. Personally, l always make sure l do spend some money in those places where l send resupplying boxes. l like win-win situations, and l also think of the hikers who'll be coming next, after my visit (like you guys). If l leave a good impression, they'll hopefully treat well the next hikers who visit. *Note: l was lucky my box arrived 'the following day' after l arrived to Graddis. Consequently, l was 'forced' to take a day off and that fit my schedule fine. Besides, l benefited from the lovely company of the Graddis family. If you don't have flexibility, perhaps you want to pay for a faster service (if available). Of course, that also depends on how many days you take to walk the section compared to me (l don't remember how many days i took, but you could check it in my videos easily). *Note 2: For some reason, in Sulitjelma, where l sent the 2 resupplying boxes to Graddis and Umbukta, it was a big deal that l did not have a Norwegian phone number to write in the form (so that you can be contacted by the post office in case something happens to the boxes while in transit). The postman agreed to write down his personal phone number and then l could finally proceed and send the boxes... That very postman also drove me back up to Sulitjelma cabin. As you can see, he was very helpful. - GRADDIS Fjellstue: Kjell-S Myrvang (top class guy, he and his wonderful family. Say hello from me if you meet them!).
