ESPN has a terrible broadcast. They have no idea how to call a hockey game. I would pay extra to be able to watch Sam and Joe on MSG throughout the playoffs.
This series is proof the hockey gods love to play games with us. The rangers were expected to be the better team on special teams while Florida was expected to be the better 5 v 5 team…we’re now 3 games in and the rangers currently have zero ppg, half of Floridas goals have been through their pp or empty net, and the rangers are up 2-1. This series is really going to come down to goaltending because if it were any other goalies in net the series would average 10 combined goals a game. And because he can perform better when challenged, Igor is going to give the rangers the edge and send them to their first finals as presidents trophy winners since 1994.
I have a feeling Florida will come out like theres no tomorrow in Game 4 and tie the series 2-2; they were the better team today and these sort of results only makes them better. Trust me, us Bruins fans know. Panthers win next.
As a Rangers fan, I love seeing this team perform well but my god Trouba is such a liability. Between the constant penalties and mistakes with the pucks it needs to stop. The captain of the team cannot be one of the worst on the ice and he sorta has been.
Honestly whether Trouba’s chicken wing was 7 or 4 is irrelevant. Florida let’s up a shorty on that kill and had 6 power plays the whole game - if you can’t capitalize on that it’s hard to make the argument that Trouba’s penalty was the make or break of that game
correction, Zibanejad didn't hit himself with his own stick, his stick was knocked into him by the Florida player. I know its fun to say right after making fun of Laffy and his own goal comment, but thats ok, we will cry about it all the way to the cup. :)
The Rangers are the best 3rd period team when they go into the 3rd trailing. The Rangers are the worst 3rd period team when they go into the 3rd with the lead.
Zero controversy beside the trouba hit. Rangers fan here and I'm just not sure what Trouba was doing on that. Just take the body why try to chicken wing. He's one of the best hitters in the league, why chicken wing. But wenny tip was clean. LGR keep rolling 2 more.
The refs were truly horrible in this game. Bennett runs into Igor and, even though the refs have been calling running into the goalie throughout the playoffs, they don't call that and then they completely destroy the Rangers chance at a shorty later.... kind of odd. Anyway, so happy Wenny got the OT goal!!! What a great addition to the team he's been! LGR!
Our defense got COOKED this game. Florida just overpowered us down low all night. But Laff, Vinny, Goodrow and Igor just put in monster performances to steal this one.
@@martharunstheworld I agree but K'andre and Trouba played some of their worst hockey of the playoffs. Love both of em and I think they will bounce back but man Florida plays tough.
I think the reason the Trouba 5 minute major was dropped to 2 was because another angle shows Trouba barely makes any contact with the head and most of the contact is the shoulder/name plate
From several angles it doesn't even look like he makes any contact with the head. Just the back of the shoulder. Maybe his jersey grazed his neck. It just looks bad because of how he stuck his elbow out and Rodrigues embellishing. And of course everyone just wants the major based on reputation and instant reaction. You have to look at what actually happened and to me it is pretty clear from the replays the refs made a good call. I'm not saying Trouba is an angel and it is still kind of dumb to get back to back minors like that. He came close to the head.
I dont want to hear nothing about the Trouba elbow. Rodrigues went down like he was hit in the neck with a .45 caliber bullet, just to be on the ensuing PP😂😂 If Bennett could literally lay Marchand out with a sucker punch and not get a penalty, that 2 minutes Trouba got was more than enough. Plus, they scored on the ensuing PP. You know what they say...puck don't lie!!! Oh, and Reinhart is a kitty kat also.
I mean Zibanejad hit himself with his OWN stick and flopped like a sniper got him... I don't think its unreasonable for Rodriguez go down when Trouba chicken wings him to jaw. Trouba already got 2 games suspension this season with similar chicken wing, I cant imagine him not getting at least 2 games for this.
@@HPxG323 Florida man stick lifted zibanejads own stick into his face. No penalty but he was literallly bleeding so it’s pretty clearly not a flop. That trouba elbow is to the shoulder. Should’ve been 2 for that and 2 for rodriguez for embellishment
This was a massive shift in favor of the rangers for this series. If Florida doesn’t respond in game 4, this series might be done in 5, especially if Igor remains scorching. He stole that third period after the panthers tied it
This is now like the 3rd game he has stolen for the Rangers after a couple against the Canes. Late in the 3rd there I was thinking he was going to give one up for sure because no one could keep up with that onslaught. The Rangers were starting to pray for OT. But he really held his own. Big big props to him again.
Trouba elbow yes. Major- no! He nailed him in the back (look at the multiple replays). No head contact. It was the right call. Stop the reflexive Trouba hate.
My take ....if Kulikov isn't a major neither is Trouba .. which was less a head shot ....Barkov's goal is controversial.. the reply showed he moved his hand.. it did not"just hit his glove" but doubt it would have been overturned .. the late PP was BS .. fail to see any hold but if u call that then Tkacuk for his Flying Wallendas dive .. Wennberg's goal is clean goal 100% no controversy
100% correct. Given the refs were calling everything the Panthers way in the 1st period they have no reason to complain. The phantom whistle to blow the play dead on the Rangers shorthanded breakaway was the most controversial call in the game.
@@Desert-Father Without a doubt i usually don't complain about the refs that much but that was a terrible call other than that I thought the game was called ok.
I think they both should’ve been 5 minutes. I don’t like either team so I have no dog in this fight, but I have no idea how neither one was five minutes.
as usual.. it was MSG jr in South Florida today. Most likely that it's cheaper to fly down here, get a room, a ticket to the game and it'll be cheaper than going to MSG. As a Panther's fan, I still did enjoy going to the game today. As Shannon explained, the better team didn't win today. Tuesday should be a Barn-Burner
At first glance, and during the game too, the Trouba hit definitely looked deserving of a major. But there’s a video going around now that shows the backside angle of what actually happens and you can actually see Trouba connecting with the players back, not the head. There may be a little bit of a head swipe kind of thing but most of the hit was back and shoulder. If you haven’t seen the secondary angle going around, please check it out before commenting because before seeing the video, I was shocked it wasn’t a major too. Anyways, either way, Trouba needs to stop doing that crap
I didn't think one of the Rangers would have scored a own goal, 5 hole on Shesterkin in Game 1, but here we are. Nothing surprises me anymore in this year's playoffs.
Jacob Trouba deserved more time in the box. Alexis Lafreniere is not a bust. Barclay Goodrow is not overpaid. Igor Shesterkin is one of the best goalies I’ve ver seen. Quickly making me forget Henrik Lundqvist was my favorite player for my entire life.
I bounce between ESPN and Sportsnet(canada) it went off the stick in over time. Saw it on a few replays. FL was behind in the Boston series 0-1 after the first game.
Score one for the Good Guys! The Rangers are hardwired team with that passing back and forth…bbbback and forth. Ancient hockey proverb: You don’t win unless you shoot. It took OT where the Rangers pull their spirit from their body and act like the team that they can be. In the meantime, Igor has to be one of the greatest young bank robbers in the NHL today.
That's why the Rangers actually play better on the road so often they don't over pass and play a simpler game and I think Florida may play better on the road as well.
@@jameshannagan4256 I dunno if the Rangers played “Better.” I wish they did but the truth is, they got extremely lucky in game 3. Florida erased that 2 goal lead in no time and completely dominated the Rangers in the 3rd. Igor is just tiring them out so Rangers can win in OT.
@@DrDetfink It's pretty simple the first game was even the second game was the Rangers with the better play and the third was Florida no one dominated play in all 3 games that's all I said. People are acting like all 3 games weren't close and the Rangers should be getting blown out. The series has been pretty even and it's not some miracle the Rangers are up 2-1.
@@jameshannagan4256 I gotta respectfully disagree. The 3rd period in game 3 was absolutely dominant by Florida. They erased the 2 goal Ranger lead like it was nothing. Igor kept that team in the game. The final score of game 3 should have read 10-4 Panthers. Fortunately Igor flipped the script and the Rangers won in overtime.
It's one period in a game you got 2 gift goals in and of course they had a good 3rd they were going into it down by two goals. The first 2 games were evenly played and it's almost like you guys never faced a guy like Igor who you will not usually have much luck against if you shoot a lot from the perimeter without screens, deflections or rebounds. The Rangers have been winning games all year like that and if Florida doesn't change their approach they will lose the series. You guys act like one great period and you should be awarded the series lead. The Rangers just beat a Carolina team who is just as good as Florida and the reason they did is because they played the same way the Panthers did with the shot volume strategy they need to start crashing the net but the Rangers defense is very good at rebound control and stopping tips and screens it's going to be hard for Florida to win without some changes.
Unfortunately i went to bed at 5pm due to exhaustion. I couldn't stay up. I was up at 4 am plus went MTB riding all day. I did my best but my brain said sleep. Having said that, thanks to Shannon for his channel. Looks like i missed a great game.
Rangers just have had a certain something going..dimension to their game that can turn things quickly. It’s a terrific matchup this series. Kind of funny watching Rempe trying to level Lomberg for Vesey hit earlier in the series..
Maybe NYR have found a "new" formula (so far)?!? In series vs Canes they won G 2 & 3 in OT, same here against FLA! I'am NOT really rooting for any team here, but I do agree - This Game was entertaining! Keep it up!
Not really sure how to feel about a stick being pretty much launched off the ice into a players face and it not being a penalty. High sticking by proxy?
Frustrating to think that people don’t seem to realize Rangers might actually coach and plan around their goaltending? Shesterkin is a goalie who performs well with a lot of work. Just like how the Devils played a perfect system with a goalie like Brodeur,. A system where the Rangers allow for tons of low danger chances, gets Igor exercised and makes him more likely to stop high danger chances East to west…think about Carolina game 2 overtime… extreme amounts of work but yet, Igor continued to have an amazing series and playoffs and has yet to tire.
@SJD1982 yep, when they showed the angle from has backside, Trouba clearly did not contact his head...he wanted to ... but it didn't happen. What a DIVE
I think Trouba not getting a major was the refs paying the Rangers back from when they stopped their short handed rush during the 2nd FL PP. I love my Rangers (and Troubs), but yea, that should have been 5m. We were all expecting a fantastic series, and we’re getting one! Take your baby aspirins, fans! LGR!!!
@ryanw8220 the rangers win a 5-4 OT game and all I hear is they were outplayed from start to finish, when the panthers had the lead for less than 5 minutes....and until they called Miller for tripping with a hip check, and blowing dead a shorthanded odd man rush, I hadn't complained once all season about reffing...

@@martharunstheworld Rangers announcers are the best. They are Ranger fans, but they are hockey fans also so it is always great to listen to them because they are fair to the opposing teams too.
@@spinin1251 As a Ranger fan who watches a lot of hockey you don't realize hoe good they are until you start watching game of other teams feeds it's brutal.
I still think they probably lose the series though the Rangers just finish better and have the edge in goal as well.
The one time I disagree with you Shannon. The better team did win today.
I was at the game. It was 50-50 Panthers - Rangers Fans.
it's wild to me that the Rangers have scored more shorthanded goals than the rest of the teams in the playoffs combined.
Rangers don’t have PK time. They have shortie time.
wrong, they have 5, others have 7, but still impressive
As a Rangers fan, I love seeing this team perform well but my god Trouba is such a liability. Between the constant penalties and mistakes with the pucks it needs to stop. The captain of the team cannot be one of the worst on the ice and he sorta has been.
NINE goals in one game? 🥴
Outrageous!!
Send all 40 players to bed without their supper.
Youll have to forgive Igor, he’s still learning English so he doesnt know what the word “lose” means
First goal in 1980 Finals was an own goal by Denis Potvin.
Accurate
That's unbelievable!! Wow.
Panthers sustain withering attack and surges. As a lifelong Ranger fan, I am amazed we won. Laf really growing before our eyes. Igor steals it.
Zero controversy beside the trouba hit. Rangers fan here and I'm just not sure what Trouba was doing on that. Just take the body why try to chicken wing. He's one of the best hitters in the league, why chicken wing. But wenny tip was clean. LGR keep rolling 2 more.
Trouba is an elbow specialist..a consistent thread through time..
LGR!
Yes I completely agree
Also didn't he elbow him in the head "by accident"?
The whole first period panthers had too many men, 5 in home jerseys and 4 zebras
@ZubaFix panthers and zebras working together... what a world.
Starting to understand Vancouver's hatred of Kelly Sutherland's crew.
@@scottymacdewder5229 😂😂😂😂I am dying
Our defense got COOKED this game. Florida just overpowered us down low all night. But Laff, Vinny, Goodrow and Igor just put in monster performances to steal this one.
Lindgren and Fox are injured, but still out there doing their best.
@@martharunstheworld I agree but K'andre and Trouba played some of their worst hockey of the playoffs. Love both of em and I think they will bounce back but man Florida plays tough.
@@ohitsshallows Yeah, agreed.
@@ohitsshallows K and others were terrible at clearing the puck out of the zone. Mika missed a zone clear late in the game.
I think the reason the Trouba 5 minute major was dropped to 2 was because another angle shows Trouba barely makes any contact with the head and most of the contact is the shoulder/name plate
@Illfate-km2qr Bennett also punched Igor in the head tonight
@Illfate-km2qr YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT
@Illfate-km2qr Plus there was that late hit on Wennberg that LITERALLY made contact with his head. But yeah, they can act like the victims
And it was over 100°F in Sunrise 🥵
Really good breakdown. I’m a die hard rangers fan and agreed with it all, Igor stole a game we shouldn’t have won
As an Av's fan, I have to say I'm not really a fan of either team. But, I don't like Tkachuk. So, GO RANGERS!
I dont want to hear nothing about the Trouba elbow. Rodrigues went down like he was hit in the neck with a .45 caliber bullet, just to be on the ensuing PP😂😂
If Bennett could literally lay Marchand out with a sucker punch and not get a penalty, that 2 minutes Trouba got was more than enough. Plus, they scored on the ensuing PP. You know what they say...puck don't lie!!!
Oh, and Reinhart is a kitty kat also.
I thought they didn’t score on the 4 minute. Either way two penalties back to back and one was a blatant flying elbow to the face suspend him
I mean Zibanejad hit himself with his OWN stick and flopped like a sniper got him... I don't think its unreasonable for Rodriguez go down when Trouba chicken wings him to jaw. Trouba already got 2 games suspension this season with similar chicken wing, I cant imagine him not getting at least 2 games for this.
@@noahsmith4115 as a Rangers fan, I’d take him getting suspended.
@@HPxG323 Florida man stick lifted zibanejads own stick into his face. No penalty but he was literallly bleeding so it’s pretty clearly not a flop. That trouba elbow is to the shoulder. Should’ve been 2 for that and 2 for rodriguez for embellishment
@@mondoseguendo6113 Agreed. Bring in Zac Jones. I'm personally very done with Trouba.
This was a massive shift in favor of the rangers for this series. If Florida doesn’t respond in game 4, this series might be done in 5, especially if Igor remains scorching. He stole that third period after the panthers tied it
I'd say it's more likely going to be 2-2.
Florida's gonna need it to be
Panthers in 4
This is now like the 3rd game he has stolen for the Rangers after a couple against the Canes.
The panthers have earned more than one elbow for their antics this series...
@@scottymacdewder5229 EXACTLY RIGHT!!
Watching salty panther fans cry interference on the game winner is hilarious
100% correct. Given the refs were calling everything the Panthers way in the 1st period they have no reason to complain. The phantom whistle to blow the play dead on the Rangers shorthanded breakaway was the most controversial call in the game.
@@Desert-Father Without a doubt i usually don't complain about the refs that much but that was a terrible call other than that I thought the game was called ok.
I think they both should’ve been 5 minutes. I don’t like either team so I have no dog in this fight, but I have no idea how neither one was five minutes.
No your right I'm a new Yorker lives in Florida any sports games new York plays in we are all over!! Every game is a home game down here in Florida

Both his goals were amazing he looked like Sid out there with the beautiful backhands.
You aren’t missing anything on the ESPN feed except for another bill lol
as usual.. it was MSG jr in South Florida today. Most likely that it's cheaper to fly down here, get a room, a ticket to the game and it'll be cheaper than going to MSG. As a Panther's fan, I still did enjoy going to the game today. As Shannon explained, the better team didn't win today. Tuesday should be a Barn-Burner
I know that was a legitimate fact for regular season Yankee games back in the day
At first glance, and during the game too, the Trouba hit definitely looked deserving of a major.
Rangers iced the puck
Far too many times, but they
Iced the Panthers, too💥!

Shesterkin just may pull this series out for the Rangers-game 4 is going to be epic
Who had wennbeeg and goodrow on their bingo cards for goal scorers today!? Depth stepped up over the stars.
I bet shannon changes jerseys on his way to change his jersey.
Whoo hoo 317k Subs…. 🎉
Hoping NY can extend the lead from here, a great game overall.
I bounce between ESPN and Sportsnet(canada) it went off the stick in over time. Saw it on a few replays. FL was behind in the Boston series 0-1 after the first game.
Florida did lose gm 1 to Boston so they were behind once in that series

Refs really did everything they could to stitch the Rangers up and they still found a way. Definitely different from Ranger teams of the past.
This! All poeple acting like its 5 men vs Igor, and the rest of the team does nothing. They clearly don’t know anything about hockey.
@@Skrubbsaar Yes. If goaltending were the end-all and be-all, Hank would have multiple Cups.
