The funny thing is I think a lot of people associate this band with depression and anger toward the world but the truth is it's the complete opposite: their music is actually some of the most motivating music out there.
-This song says that even pain is good because feeling pain means you still have the ability to feel and live.
-"I Am Machine" says the same thing: better to bleed and feel pain than to be an emotionless machine
-"Life Starts Now" and "Never Too Late" say that as long as your still alive you still have a chance to be successful no matter how much hardship you've endured
-"Riot" and "Break" are telling the listener to break away from the background and make themselves heard and seen in the world.

This song oddly feels calming to me now as an adult, grounding even. It was very reletable during my teenage years while suffering from 'numbness' and wish for self harm. But even many years later stopping to feel those, I still return back to listen it. Thank you Three Days Grace for this song.

2 years ago, I was at my house, and I was making cereal, but when I looked into the fridge I discovered that there was *no milk* left, because of that I Started to get really depressed, my friends and family wouldn't help me, all they would say is "it's just cereal get over it" but when in reality it wasn't just cereal, later on I found about Three Days Grace, and thanks to their music I was able to eat cereal, even when I was out of milk, and now my life is turning around for the better, so to anyone who plans on making cereal, if you have no milk, don't let that stop you from enjoying your cereal, you can still eat cereal without milk. Finally I just want to say, thank you Three Day Grace, thank you, you've change my life forever.

It cant be the same but it CAN still move forward. I like Matt, but I dont think that anyone disagrees with me on the fact that Adam was a better vocalist. Let's not forget that even though the vocalist changed the style has stayed almost the exact same. I'm only 14 yet this song already helped me so much through the bad things in my life. I remember being 9 and listening to this after having to deal with my caretaker, my mom's adoptive mother (my mom had me when she was very young so her adoptive mother basically raised me) who suffers from a condition that at the time I would just say she had "an evil, unremorseful side" and developed severe depression after her husband died. Man, I can't even begin to explain how dark my mind was filled up with horrible and haunting thoughts and fears and nobodu would understand me except my mom, but just because she was used to get my same treatment. I am looking for somebody who can feel my pain, who can understand what I was and I am going through. My scars, such as fear of judgement, fear of being just like her, fear of doing something too extreme and becoming a bad, unhealthy, unlikable person and showing just how vulnerable I am are something I know won't simply leave. In elementary school I was desperate because my best friend who was the only one I trusted with no doubt vented to me about what happened to her and we would comfort each other, but when it was me who had a problem with that difficult woman (grandma figure, not my biological grandma for I don't know anyone else beside my biological mom who I already mentioned) my best friend would stand by her side because all that it was to other people was "just a poor granny trying her best, you have to be stronger and it is not her fault". It is not her fault, but I needed somebody to understand that I was young and that she raised me for the first period of my life. She was sweet until the SLIGHTEST bad thing happened, then she would victimize herself out of nowhere and starts talking about what she's done for this family, always stating that she considers us such, even after being racist about it. (For instance she adopted my mom in Ukraine before the illness. Now she despises our family because of my moroccan father figure.) She would get mad, so mad for the slightest stupidity like if we where playing cards and she losed, If something fell from the table, if I didn't want or couldn't spend time with her, if I had interest in stuff she didn't like (she made me believe I was possessed because I love horror and fictional supervillains, she yelled at at me when she found out I liked true crime). All of these incidents would be twisted and turn into full-on fights, even psysical fights with a 60 year old and a 8 year old. I remebembee running away locking the door and hoping she would stop being so bad to me and hoping the bad feelings would go away. I felt vulnerable and dependent because deep inside I used to and still do feel for her. At first i used to hurt myself in a way to dismiss the anger and agony (by biting on my arm, my fingers, slapping myself, scarring myself in the moment I felt that rush) and then by simply detacching from real life and the bad people and thoughts, pretending I was somebody else, that there was no pain, and focusing on what I liked so much it was more important that what was really there for me. When I was younger, I was scared of becoming a bad, bad person to the point of hating myself so bad because of how my caretaker treated me, everyday without even realizing she told me I was evil, crazy and always said that in comparison to the others, I was a horrible kid. But now I realize that something is wrong if a 10 years old treats to kill herself and a responsable caretaker answers her (clear sign for help) "then do it already". I went to so many doctors it's been 4 years almost 5, and my feelings never truly dissapeared. Nobody could stand her or even go near her and that's why she was so alone to the point of having to stick with me even if she acted as if she wanted me dead. The only thing that wasnt messed up was my pain, that made me miserable and paranoid but it never leaved me. I find in that that sense of familiarity, which no matter what, I really needed and still need. I remember listening to this song ever since, that not only has an amazing beat and mostrous(/pos) vocals, but truly means alot to me and gives me that feeling of familiarity and remembers me I am not less that anyone else and that I am not the only one feeling this way. Thank you.
My younger brother committed suicide last weekend by overdosing on something. He was found with headphones on, presumably listening to something. This is his youtube account. He made a playlist containing 6 songs that was edited the day he passed. This is one of the 6 songs. With the method he used, he was dead after about 30 minutes, probably unconscious around 12 minutes. I like to think that it was peaceful for him with his music on. The entire One X album is what got me through some of the hardest years of my life. Whenever I felt depressed, angry, sad, hopeless, I'd pull up this album, listen to the entire thing, and by the end I felt so much better. It allowed me to feel my feelings to their fullest, and with the final song, I was able to finally release them and let it all go. I love this album and this song so much that I hope one day to get the X on the back of everyone's neck in the video tattooed on my own neck, a reminder of how powerful this album is, what it has done for me, and what Three Days Grace as a whole has done and continues to do for me, almost 8 years later. I remember feeling numb back in middle school, where it was hard to feel any emotion cause I had locked it up tight to protect myself. Three days grace, and especially this song, taught me how to cope and feel again. This song and album are always what I come back to so I can let it all out; always end up feeling better after it. Even if it always makes me cry listening to it. Over a decade later and this song still hits hard, be always will. One day I’ll have the same red X tattoo on the back of my neck since this song and that symbolism has meant so much to me.
