- Bass/Keys/Pedals play through of YYZ by Rush off of the Moving Pictures album, released in 1981 with Geddy Lee on bass. This one was a huge challenge. It isn’t perfect by any means, but I’m really proud of this because it’s so difficult. This is my first time making a video where I do all of the parts at the same time, so I feel really good about this. Hope you enjoy.
Recorded direct with bassless and keyless tracks
Keys sounds from Allan Lobo’s Arturia Pack “Rush Keys Deluxe”
Fender CIJ Geddy Lee Jazz Bass
D’Addario Nickel EXL170 Strings
Tech 21 NYC Geddy Lee YYZ Pedal
EBS Multicomp
Korg Kross 2
Roland PK-5
Cantabile
Your really good❤
Being Geddy is my favorite bassist and keyboard player along with lead singer you have nailed it
That means a lot, thank you!
Good work dude!, be proud nailed the notes and sound enjoy listening to talent and rush what a combo 🤘
Bonus points for the pedals and keys. A true fan! Nice job
bonus points for the air drumming too! Preston's feeling it.
With that super nice right hand technique, the organs, AND you absolutely nailing the vocal component this is so much more than a cover. Its a dang Geddy Lee reenactment. Great work dude!!!
@@Mighty_Atheismo thanks so much! Glad you liked the vocals, they’re really hard on this one 😂
Sweet! I’m sure Geddy would be proud! You have his touch nailed!

Freaking sick! I’ve been looking to get some foot pedals like u got there
Thanks! I highly recommend the PK-5 pedals, you can find them on Reverb usually.
Awesome job bro, keep striving for perfection. you got this.
whoa dude, do not even dare to chill. very good job
Awesome job man! I can't even touch that song at full speed with just bass, let alone keys and pedals!
I do see that electric standing bass in the background though, any chance for a Mr. Krinkle cover?
@@perryborn2777 thanks a lot!! Maybe I could look into Mr. Krinkle 🤔
Amazing stuff
I really dont get why people think this os a hard bass song to play.
I play bass and all i heard was abot Getty Lee and YYZ. I learned it. Its a groove. I am not really a jazz bassist. But it isnt as hard as everyone makes it out to be.
Great job man! This is the mexican fender geddy lee with custom shield?
Thank you! This is a Japanese Geddy :)
This is something to be proud of, young man. Keep at it!
Thanks a lot! :)
NAILED IT!!!!!
Oh Preston !

Great Job Shredston! 🍻
You got my sub
Thanks so much!!
Nice playing 🎉👍🚀
Nice job.
Well done! Hope this blows up!
Thank you!!!
Nice!!!!!!!
Espectacular!!!
Thanks so much!
Just discovered your channel. Anybody with this many Rush bass covers gets a subscription from me! That first verse with bass, guitar, and drums playing synchronized is a real killer. How those guys did that show after show and always stayed locked in on each other is simply baffling. You were a little ahead the first time but locked in perfectly when the song comes back to it after the guitar solo. And your right-hand technique is perfect for Rush-beat those strings like they owe you money!
Thanks for the lovely comment!!! I’m really glad you enjoy the videos. I agree, Rush were absolute madmen when it came to performing and recording and writing. Forever my favorite band!!
Great job my man
nice playing, well done!
Thank you!
Dang! Nice job! Bass pedals - check, synth - check, bass - yeah man, check. Now can you sing???? ;)
Don’t ask for too much 😂
Dooood! You were Incrediplayer. Monster song. Ready to try this on the Rick? 😊
Thank you! Definitely! Hoping to push out more Rush covers with my Rick :)
Nice job!
Thanks!
Not note for note, but still good. You're a serious dude. Keep it up!
I will never be as cool as him
😂😂😂 glad you liked it! Thank you!
Killer
Wanna try some fun but crqzy base to learn. Check out old rancid.
Not bad at all, timing slightly suspect in places, but great musicianship.
Thanks a lot!! I got a little too excited 😂
Hey, we've all been there, and this is a very energetic track. @@PrestonHunsinger
Where's the Rickenbacker?
It was on my instrument rack during this video.
I tried spamming the 'like' button, but it only let me hit it once (of course every other time I hit it, it took my 'like' away bastards!) :) real nice job!
Thank you so much!
Is that a portaflex head ?
@@edgarojeda9288 Yes it is!
you should feel good about this. I wish I had 1/10th the musical talent of folks like you. I'm a tone-deaf music klutz with no rhythm. sigh.
stop those face`s dude.
Sorry I had fun ;)
You thru all of this just to copy a song? Make your own music and climb out of that basement.

It’s more the speed that’s difficult over anything else. None of the shapes or phrases are that complex, but the speed and endurance required to play it is the hardest part. Geddy Lee still wrote amazing bass lines and Rush is some of the most complex material out there.
