Thank you so much for this review, I was considering buying the Roam2 and have conveniently found this review posted only 2 days ago. The fact that it's IP67 appeals to me as it can be used in the bathroom and outdoors.🤟
A few questions: Can the Roam 2 be used while it’s charging? Will it shut off automatically after periods of no usage? I want to try using this as a music output device with Google Nest over bluetooth, but I don’t want to have to always power the speaker on manually. Alternatively, would using Wifi and Spotify connect be better than the Google Nest solution though? Thank you for the video!
As a Sonos user, I can confirm that you can use the Roam 2 while it's charging. You can leave it on the charger and use it like any other Sonos product, and it won't shut off. However, if you unplug it and pair it with your phone through Bluetooth, it will shut off after a period of no usage. I'm not familiar with how it will pair up with the Google Nest system. I have my Sonos system connected to Wi-Fi and have been using it with the Sonos app or AirPlay, which feels more convenient and stable. Also, using the Spotify app to stream music to your Sonos Roam is very easy. I hope my answers are helpful!
The Roam later in life added "Sonos" voice commands support, it was fast as its locally processed. Also the puck cooked the battery in my og roam, when the battery dies the Roam bricks itself. Lucky I was able to RMA it but the puck is a bad buy. Also the og UE boom sounds much better than the Roam in my opinion.
@MainCave It is indeed. I've been listening to it on repeat for the last hour or so while working. If you know more, do share! Regarding the speaker: did you have the chance to compare the sound quality between this and the older model? They look so similar I began to wonder why Sonos released this in the first place.
Im guessing seeing as these are pretty much the same speaker (functions and sound) the cyclic in me thinks they are just using it to get new customers who don't want to buy a years old speaker, especially as the 2 comes in at the same price as the 1.
After the latest app update, my entire configuration was wiped. Luckily my beam is connected optically to my cable box to HDMI on the beam. (I could never get the HDMI connection to be stable between my cable; box, the TV and the Sonos Beam. They couldn't agree who was in charge) The play ones remain networked to the beam. But I cannot get the app to find the speakers again nor get my room configurations back. So, I will never buy another Sonos product after this.

Glad you found it.
It sounds like this will be perfect for you 👍🏻
Wouldn't you consider the Alexa feature an upgrade? I have a roam and will upgrade for the Bluetooth feature and Alexa. Great video Thx

I really need to know the name of your gorgeous white and dark blue table lamp, please.

Does anybody know the songs name??? Great review by the way!

It’s called Let Me Go by Snake City, from Epidemic Sound

Agreed. The puck is a bad choice.
UE may be good for someone who doesn’t want it in their ecosystem.
Thanks for this review! In case anybody else is looking for the song you used during the sound test, it's Let Me Go, by Snake City.
I use the instrumental a lot in my vids. Easy listening.

That’s a shame
