I remember watching this video the night before I bought my IS, I'm rewatching it again the night before it's getting taken away after being totaled. I'm going to miss the sound of this engine.
I feel your pain so immensely. I remember the night before my first car was taken away and luckily it was still drivable, and that last drive was so emotional. I am really thinking of getting one of these cars in the very near future because of that engine, the looks, RWD, and that reliability. I will be over the moon if I can find the wagon however unlikely. I hope you are doing well and that you may have found a good replacement or will find something soon.

The IS300 is a special car. Not just the 2jz engine.
Cars are not built like it anymore. It was built with a great formula that cars are not built with anymore
Toyota4Life only thing that sucks is fuel economy. I get 16 mpg city...
My is200 gets 18mpg City
My gs430 gets 16 in the hood and 22 frw
What's special about it? Looks like any other 2005 generic beater car.

Get an is200 its cheap and now that you have secure the car later upgrade the engine to GTE.
I am 16 saved for a very long time and snipes a mind blowing deal on an is300 for my first car and it’s a 5speed!

I’ve had my 2003 IS300 5 speed manual since 2006 now. 270k miles on the odo and still drives great. This cars handling was way ahead of its time. Best car I’ve ever owned

I dropped a Supra 2JZ-GE + W58 5-speed into a Toyota Altezza, formerly a 2JZ-GTE drag racing car. I've been contemplating stroker kit, ITBs, and other madness for NA power, but I really like how your car sounds and it looks fun enough, so I think I'll stick with a similarly conservative build. Just headers, catback exhaust. The suspension is already sorted, and I've still got a single-turbo Supra for insane power.
Re: special engines.....I think the BMW B58 is the new hidden gem. Closed deck block for big power!
I haven't yet driven the B58...I really need to experience it in the 340i or M240i. I've heard good things

Its gotta be said, that old metallic straight six sound is something thats never gonna come back. The BMW’s from the 80-90’s ❤️ and Toyota’s 2JZ. So great, love the “hybrid” badge on the back 😂

bought one for 2000 last week, 122k miles. bit rough but i love it.
I really love the instrument cluster light change. I'm surprised Lexus even used orange in the first place. Not very Luxurious in my opinion.
i drive a lot at night, and those yellow/orange lights are essential imo. drove my cousin's mini a while ago, and the eye fatigue is very noticeable if you have white/blue-ish lights all over the interior, and it messes with your adaptation, whereas the orange is way less of an issue. my is200 is incredibly well suited for night driving. the side mirrors are very yellow tinted, it's got an auto dimming rear view mirror, all the lights are orange, and it's got a factory window tint. you don't really notice until you sit in another car that doesn't have those goodies and get annoyed why there are so many blinding lights everywhere. while i agree it doesn't look very nice, there's a reason for the orange lights. these cars have so many little details that make them more comfortable/useable, it's astonishing. that's the kind of luxury you get in these cars, they thought of almost everything to make your drive more comfortable. less about appearance, all about functionality.

Daniel Neumann yea that’s the only issue. I just turned 17 and I’m a boy so insurance will be a ton. That’s why I don’t want a sports car. This car will be less since it’s not a sports car. I’m still saving for this car

These cars comfortably and commonly go around 300-400k miles. Literally anything under like 160k is low on these cars

When I got my 5 speed is300 it had 80km now has 108km

I thought that the 2JZ-GE had slightly different internals than the 2JZ-GTE...
augus li The MK4 supra got both the 2JZGE and the 2JZGTE, some of the major differences is compression ratio which the GTE has a lower compression ratio to accommodate for boost, head design and block design.
the ge also is missing a few oil squirters in the block.
Tony Zhuravlev I'd build a ge block over a gte block all day.
wuiam I would only build a he if I am on a budget otherwise the gte is the superior block.
Tony Zhuravlev tell Ryan Woon that. The oil squirters are known to fail at high boost. No need for it.

the rev hang is the CDD (clutch dampening device) You can delete it. It wears the clutch out faster if you leave it.

Hi guys, owner here, the car is running Autolumination bulbs in the dash and on the climate controls. As for how to install them, i'm honestly not sure, to access the climate controls i believe you have to pull the center part of the dash out at a minimum.
I’m sure this car still drives on the road in 2023

I've been saving up for a manual IS300, but everyone puts a ton of miles on them along with a ridiculous asking price. I found one in my city for a decent price, but the craigslist post says his burns a quart of oil every week. Just gotta keep searching.

You’ll get mad hate but I’ve met people who have autos and swear by the transmission being stronger then the stock manual trans, and I’ve seen quite a few autos with turbos etc. .. sure its unconventional but don’t mind the hate. Most probably don’t even own an IS300

I hear you about BMW. I think the golden age ended with the e46/e39...possibly with the e34 if you're a real I-6 BMW enthusiast. Either way the cars they make nowadays just don't compare. Love this lexus because its like a reliable, albeit less impressive, e46 330i.

Stock tires for that car are actually staggered, 215 in front and 225 in rear
Not every IS came with the same wheels and fitment lmao some came staggered but most were squared with skinny 215s
I personally love the sound but I feel after while I'd have to change it, either that or carry Panadol with me 24/7 bruh my head would be racing like
