I've always trusted my good old Toro snow blower, the kind of snow blower that lasts for decades! I prefer to warn you: wait before buying a Toro Power TRX HD Commercial 1428! Because the TRX HD 1428 has a MAJOR traction problem! Update: 2021-02-23 : A FIX/recall of sold model has been published on the Toro Dealer portal.
Great in depth review, I shared it to my snowblower group on facebook to get the word out! Consumers need to be informed about these things to prevent them from having issues, or having them go through lengthy recall process and repairs. Thanks for the great informational video! Cheers from Ontario Canada!
That's why CQ is here :P We don't want nobody to spend money on something that is not working! You can tell everybody that Toro told us there is a fix, count on us to plow the whole field with in our next video! Cheers From Québec!
@@CarQuestion please try to get the fix info from the manufacturer, what exactly happened, as I'm curious if it was a design flaw, mechanical breakdown of a critical drive component, or something simple. Thanks for the quick response!
@@EliminatorPerformance What they have told us so far: Missing Pulley and Belt Fixe ..... I find that pretty.... unbelievable. They also told us it's only a certain number of SN that are affected by the problem... I dont belive that either since most of what has been sold this year have problem! NOBODY told me that theirs were fine...
@@EliminatorPerformance It's the pulley that holds all the belts, also Toro will publish a recall of the affected model ( i presume it's all TRX ) soon, probably next week.
LOL That was me you had up there asking the question to Paul Sikkema. I have been eagerly awaiting this blower, but like you stated........ Always wait a year and read ALL you can before such an expensive purchase!
Don't count on that... Toro was stubborn and NEVER took us seriously or even tried to help us on this. Wait for the next model, or go with a Honda, Ariens or Yamaha.
Personally i do not like the set up with 3 wheel in triangel, it produce much stress on the belt and drive pully, i like the set up on ariens rapid track with drop form
Hello, it’s almost a year since you posted this issue. Has it been resolved? Have you know other owners with this machine? Were their units having the same problem or were you just the unlucky one? Thanks
so far a SNOW-103 fix has resolved the issue, but they also had to change the hydrostatic trans on ours.... a new video is coming out soon of this snowblower vs a honda. We also tested the ariens, make sure you like how it handles on deep snow, if more traction is required go check the Honda.
Looking at Home Depot reviews, you are not alone... credit for Toro for leaving the reviews up, though. Ariens Rapid Track might be a comparable with better reviews.
Any updates? Hopefully Toro stepped up. I've always been impressed with their products. I've had a Craftsman track drive for 20 years. Thinking about replacing it.
I've purchased one of the industrial 1432 units, won't be delivered until next week Friday 01/20/2023. I did see the poor reviews from last years models and had asked the dealership about this. He informed me that all known units have been retrofitted and this years models were shipped with updated drives. Time will tell as I have major amounts of hard snow to move again, too much for my 30 year old units to handle.
I had a top of the line Honda TAD 7/24 with track. It cost me $4,500.00 Canadian in 2007. The chute kept clogging. I sold it and bought a Toro 8/24 with Personal Pace. It has NEVER clogged. This retails for about $1,500.00 Canadian. I will never buy a Honda again. Overrated and overly priced!
I have a larger Club Cadet and I have a very long driveway. its O.K. but I would like a snow blower with a direct drive rather than a belt drive. Starts every time. Have owned it for 3 years. I think the snowblower manufacturers should make the larger snowblowers more powerful. That means more heavy duty parts and more money but owners that need these types of snowblowers are willing to pay a little extra to get what they need.
J’ai la même machine sauf que je l’ai acheté avec les roues et non pas l’affaire de tracteur. J’ai jamais eu de problème. Pensez-vous que le problème était les tracs?? Excellent vidéo. 😀
Sorry for your. For many years want to change my wheeled snowblower. Look for tracks model for two years. But the price...........💵💰💰💵 Finally this year I turned my choice on the Yamaha yt624ej. No complaints for now. Just small issues, one time my electric starter froze.... ignition key 🔑 🥶. Need a small adjustment on the left track..... It’s a tank ..... Looking for Honda to but it’s 1000$ expensive. I bought mine at Cloutier pro chop Ste Therese, Quebec. Japanese technology are better than the other. Just look how many snow fell on the North of Japan. You will understand why their snowblower are better.
Thank you very much for that review. I have a 27 year old Mastercraft 30'' that still work very well. Changed the wires for traction and auger and also the rubber wheel inside for the traction. That all. I'm looking for a new one a little bit bigger like 32'' and more power to throw 50' away the snow. I'm deceived to see so many bad reviews out there for all kind of Snowblower and I thought that this Toro was good. My prefered one would be the 32'' Honda with tracks. Did not see any bad review of it yet. Same price as the big 32'' Toro but better fabrication I think.
H O N D A I've had my 1332 for 10 years. It's a snow monster. I've not had any problems with it. It starts on one pull and just does its job every time, year after year in very deep and heavy snow. Get it over with...buy a Honda.
I heard they're working on a fix for the tranny.. maybe they'll recall and slap a new one in it.. i got a Toro 826 heated hand grips it's an excellent mid size machine for B.C. mountainous winters 3000 meters above sea level 😎 👍 used literally every day doing the heights of winter
I meant to ask when i saw your Toro vs Honda posting: if the Toro was perfect from the start and you compared the two machines (as you did) which machine was easier to move around? Which machine would you buy if you had to do it again? Why? Thanks
hydrostatic is a common thing in big machines like tractors.... but yep, we will have to see the fixe and ride hard this one ( once fixed ) to see how it will go over time!

Great Review. As reported by Paul Sikkema the problem was a lack of drive belt tension and has been fixed by Toro in late 2021, and have a dealer retrofit kit too. I'm not sure how it happened but they seem like a great company that fixes their first model year problems. Read his recent comments in his review at: ruclips.net/video/QYKZZs6NQ34/видео.html
It's not just that, i can send you the fix if you want. I think there was also another revision since then. Great company? Lol, i've seen way better service and collab. I feel sorry for the dealers.
Likely Hydrostatic problem.. I have a Time Cutter hydrostatic that is Very Strong. reliable and Powerful.. so Toro knows Hydrostatic. This one slipped thru the cracks.. maybe they snuck a CVT in there somewhere.
All those snowblowers got fix with the snow-103 recall. There was a lot of work done to get it working. Once the fix was applied, it solved most of the problem except when the hydrostatic still overheated, so they changed the complete transmission, and now it's doing fine (for now). Local dealer is good, company support is awfull.
