That M60 team is outstanding! I looked at both the Empress and Gringos 40 sites before I saw your video and didn't notice that team, i'll have to get back on there and square myself away with at least one of them
Always a judgement call for camo patterns, too bright and they jump too pale and they blend. I try and get the look of the camo, but it’s a learning curve 😉
The US Army and Marine Corps also have a lot of historical publications their respective official historians publish. They are very readable and quite useful for Vietnam era research, plus the PDF versions are free or can be ordered at a low cost from the US government printing office. Amazing figures too!
Looks great. Question for you: what do you use for the African skin tones? I’ve been using citadel rhinox hide as a base but I’m open to something new.
Thanks Michael, for African skin tone all Vallejo Model Color base is VMC Chocolate Brown 872, then a wash with black ink. Go over the main areas again with Chocolate Brown then highlight with VMC German Cam Medium Brown 826 and a final highlight of VMC German Cam Pale violet Brown 825. Add some pink to one of the flesh tones for the bottom lip. Hope this helps 😉
Assuming that it is the same Kevin Lyles, he did a stunning 3 figure Vietnam diorama at a BMSS competition that stunned most of us. Converted from the Airfix Multipose 1/32 scale US Marines, he had the sweat running down their faces and arms plus a tattoo of a girl's face and the name Carole under it. The following year he did a Huey diorama.
Great looking figs Dougie! I have some of the Empress ANZACS and NVA, which I have been putting off, but need to get cracking on them after I finish my WW2 project. Really like the look of the weapons (here and tour other modern Inf). I started to do something similar,,after watching a couple of your other vids. What colors are you using? Looking forward to seeing the next batch on the turntable.
Thanks Lawrence for gunmetal all VMC paints, base of 994 Dark Grey, then your black wash of choice ideally fairly thin, then 994 again followed by a highlight of 836 London Grey than lastly a very light highlight of 990 Light Grey. Hope this helps 😉
@@DougiesWargamingBlogShow Thanks for the info. I like this look much better then the standard black, with the silvery gunmetal or silver, that everyone does.
Hi Bear Alex’s VC skin is a base of VMC 929 Light Brown with a wash of the new AK Deep Shade Human Skin, then Light Brown again followed by a highlight of VMC 804 Beige Red 😉
Great job on the figures Dougie. What are you thinking of using for rules, or did I miss that? You might be interested in ‘Battlespace,’ not intended for Vietnam but good for urban fights.
Thanks Sam, my go to set for platoon level is Fireteam Modern, I’ve ideas of combining bits from Force on Force Vietnam supplement as well. I may have a copy of Battlespace that I’ll check out 👍
@@DougiesWargamingBlogShow I got Battlespace for about $10 at Wargames Vault. It’s intended as a solo system but would be easy to play as a cooperative game or head to head.
Fantastic video and outstanding miniatures👍
Thanks, appreciated 👍

Yes Paul Hicks did a cracking job on that team 👍
an enthusiastic two thumbs up!
Thanks 👍
Such a great start...Superb figures!
Thanks Phil
All looks great..except for the helmet covers, maybe the yellow should be a bit more muted?

It’s a brilliant period. I’ve really enjoyed collecting my figures!
Agreed 😉
Lovely paintjob on those Dougie. I'm currently painting up Empress ANZACs, they're stunning minis. Cheers ;)
I’ve their SAS figs which I did a review on, also got a Rubicon Centurion, think I’ll have to get a platoon of Aussies as well 😉
@@DougiesWargamingBlogShow You know it makes sense, keep the pile growing..LOL!
