  • The Seattle Aquarium opens its new Ocean Pavilion on the ancestral homeland of the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe with a major partnership aimed at highlighting the Tribe's connection to Seattle's Central Waterfront, conservation, and the Salish Sea.
    The August 29, 2024 opening ceremony featured Muckleshoot Tribal Council Chairman Jaison Elkins, along with Washington Governor Jay Inslee, King County Executive Dow Constantine, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, Muckleshoot Shaker Church Bishop Dennis Anderson and others.

    Excellent partnership, I hope it educates & elevates as intended. In the meantime, I don't know how Mayor Harrell and any City Council member can show their faces in public while there are still massive open-air drug & fenced-goods markets nearby this Seattle institution, day in and day out (3rd & Pike, 12th & Jackson, Sodo, etc.). "All politics are local" -- the Seattle electorate needs to connect up the dots and stop electing the same drug-enabling, thug-hugging politicians from one party only as they have been for 25 years.
