40ft for $13.25 (S&H not included) vs Prime-Line Round Cut Trimmer Line 40ft, Diameter: .095" - Super tough nylon co-polymer lasts 40% longer for $4.99 (X's 3 rolls) free shipping. If the tennis string lasts 3 X's as long then cost and amount of cutting time is comparable between the two. The real savings is not having to wind the string on the spool as often. And we all know how much of a PITA that is! This is worth trying. Next spool will be tennis string.
Thanks from England because I am sick of trying things and have never found strimmer line that won't break, and I've tried everything from my guitar strings, zip ties (that definitely do not work) and kite string, and if this doesn't work then my lawn will be a hippie. All the best. THE BALL WAS IN GOD DAMMIT!!!!!
Great discovery sir! Thank you, I have one broken one, I will try. I was searching for the alternative for weed eater, I also tried galvanized steel rope, it didn’t last long, probably this will work well. Thank you for your video, sharing the knowledge/your finding.
I’ll give it a try but I’ve discovered 2 things that might be just as good. #1, the Ugly Head saves me buck time from having to restring my trimmer, and those little yellow plastic blades are like knives, they really DO work. #2, Titanium String (WalMart), by itself (single strand) lasts much longer than the normal trimmer string..but, when doubled up with the Ughly Head it really last quite a long time, cuts through very tough stuff similar to what you show in your video and its a piece of cake to change out the used strings...I’d suggest giving those a try as well.
Larry Fulton hello there, what exactly is ugly head and where in walmart can I find titanium string? Can that be used with a chorded weedeater? Sorry I am having a lot of problems with my current black and decker gh3000, constantly running through a whole line every time I cut and edge! Thanks
Maybe a shaped polyester tennis string like Vokyl Cyclone or Gamma Zo etc. Poly strings are monofilaments and wouldn't fray like the synthetic git string did. Synthetic gut has a monofilament core wrapped in smaller filaments. Those outer filaments are what we see frayed out in the vid more than likely
As the cutting is done entirely by the tip of the spinning line, it seems unlikely the tennis string all fuzzy wuzzy is going to cut anything. It may last, because it is flexing all over and fraying, rather than tracking flat and breaking with sharp new tip as line is intended. Why not use fishing line, even tougher Spectra?
I tried this and it was terrible! At first it was so bad I thought once I use up this tennis racket string I won’t buy anymore. Then as I went along I got more frustrated and thought, once I use up the string that’s on the spool now, I won’t use the rest of it. Then I got so frustrated again that I just stopped and pulled off the tennis racket string that was in my spool and threw it all in the trash. It was my experience that tennis racket string wears out about 6 to 7 times faster than normal string trimmer line.
@@bravoalternativemedia4807 synthetic gut is nylon - same as any strimmer line, gauge 16 is even thinner than the original line shown at 1:22. Unless the tennis string is kevlar, it should perform worse.
Initially he has 1.65mm/0.065" line, which is one of the weakest. Tennis racquet strings are most commonly made of nylon, same as the strimmer line material (or it could be PA6, PA66) - however they should be thinner overall. So indeed a placebo effect (unless he used a kevlar string), however it says 'synthetic gut' = nylon at 1:22, gauge 16 that's 1.26-1.34 mm, which is significantly thinner.
That's one of the least durable types of tennis string too...synthetic gut. Polyester strings are much more durable and heat and abrasion resistant. I wonder if they would last even longer. Pricey option going with poly but it might truly be even more INVINCIBLE going 3-4x and long
There's one problem you're using an electric weed wacker how well would this perform with a gas weed wacker which is much more powerful and spins a lot faster
Great, but what kind of string is it. Tennis rackets use string made of different materials. Just wondering what exactly it was that you used? Seems to me that could be kind of an expensive replacement for line trim, but if you weren't going to use it, I could see it.
metal won't work, I've tried it. the metal ends up breaking from the friction of constant bending/flexing. I used stainless steel lashing wire (lineman use this to lash communication cable to metal strand on utility poles)

You did not demonstrate using the tennis string with the trimmer
I strung my racquet with the trimmer string, now I have some killer slice, it's like it cuts right through the balls!
Waahahahahahahaah that's Gold!!!!!
If I had weeds that thick, I'd put a goddamn steel blade on the weedeater and be done with it.

" Klipper " in the title should've been a hint. LOL
Two Billy Goats and an electric fence will do you a lot of good.
Yes butt, you have to watch out for the goat crap laying in the yard.
I let my weeds grow to a foot in length. Then I use them in my weed eater. Last forever.
Lier!!!!!!
@@scottchapman8044 Liar not lier
thanks ray barone!
yeah i had a bad problem with running out of string way too fast. i ended up replacing the whole head and not using string at all. thanks!
I use piano wire and it cuts through weeds and anything else that gets in the way with relative ease.
LOL!!!!
Now I am waiting for someone who tried his guitar string ... Washing line worked quite well (plastic outside and steel inside)!
I just wack the weeds with a tennis recket. Works like a champ!
king
😄

Rotary Vortex or Titanium Pulverizer. round up ends up in ground water
How to install this, is in someone else is showing on another you tube , a 1/2 inch grommet was used to secure the wire to the center

Trust me it cut and I like your Fishing line idea, but is it too thin ?
Yeah! Have you priced tennis racket string? I'll stay with the usual weed eater string, thank you.
What size tennis racket string should I use in place of 0.65 & 0.80 trimmer line?
Thanks, I'm gonna try it.
Make a video.

There's also the cost of the tennis racket string. It's not cheap.
For the cost of the tennis strings, its cheaper to higher a landscaper to edge my lawn.
try recycling old tennis string for this. very cost effective!
Use polyester tennis string
Super durable
$40 for 660 feet
I wouldn't call lasting 2x longer invincible.
3x, 4x ? You do the study ? All I know is it last a lot longer.
I never saw it cut anything ,,,he could have cut the weeds with a donkey for all we kno

that looks like you need some HDX. I'm gonna try that racket string. great video man. but you need a little 2cycle in your life my brother.
Gonna try this, thanks.
All i use is 50 lbs of fishing line to 100 lbs fish line
So just to be clear here....it works a long time.

The
Tennis rackets used to be strung with cat gut .
Ok, but how much does tennis string cost?

How much does the tennis racket string cost?
I believe it is more expensive than weed wacker string, so you will have to look for it at Garage sales and estate sales.
Bravo Alternative Media or it's worth the money and you don't penny pinch on quality
@James Limborg Kevlar 16 Racquet String. 44ft for $9.25 (S&H not included).
Any issues with the automatic line feed not working as well with the tennis string?
No issues because it is the same size and feels the same as regular line.
A small power lawn mower would make short order of those tender weeks.
Your normal weed eater string is small you need 95 or 105 to cut that's the problem get some thicker line
thanks man! I have the same problem!
.065 is way too small you need .155
Those weeds didn’t just pop up.
OK! But how much does it cost?
There's one problem you're using an electric weed wacker how well would this perform with a gas weed wacker which is much more powerful and spins a lot faster
Use metal guitar string ?
those weeds were...THICC
i want to see it in action. what happened?
Tennis is fun
Cat gut is one type....I used to restring tennis racquets...
No you didn't. There is no such thing as cat gut.LOL
Cat guts are messy! I can't figure out how you used them.
Try THICK FISHING LINE 2.4 millimeters
But what about diameter, any problem from that side?
Same standard size for most, but be sure to check first.
ROUND UP Done!
round up is great for population control and the side effect, it kills weeds

I appreciate what you're saying, but a bottle of ROUNDUP would have been easier.
The Poison Roundup will soon be illegal !
What kind of reasoning is that? That's like saying, the milk is going to expire in a week, so I'm going to not drink it now.
uh, is the milk poison? Google "roundup health issues" and find out why its being banned.
Roundup nothing but poison. Yep will kill anything , you included.
wow cool
Try the Gatorline.
Dude that weed is called thiesil why don't you just spray all the weeds with round up instead of wasting time weed whacking them ?
Not crazy about spraying Poison everywhere
Bravo Alternative Media If you spot spray your fine... the miniscule amount that will get in your garden won't hurt you
Are you drunk or simply willfully ignorant?
Your a dope you don't know how to do yard work correctly
the guys from the 80s he's a little slow
Shovel
Next time use glyphosate.
😂 mow them down and put vegetation killer on it
I use this string to floss my teeth
Next up...guitar string.
breaks too easily.. tried already..
Its a waste of time weed whacking. Its just going to grow back, just pull it out and it wont grow back
What makes people get on here just to post some nonsensical bullshit like you just did?
