Something to be said for self reliance as a country, and clearly the quality difference is notable in this example.

Additionally, I always make considerations on who owns the company. Take Martinez Tool for example, he just sold out to a global conglomerate in October 2022 . In that case, you might be supporting American families of the plant staff, but the profits are going overseas. Different side of the same coin.

Estwing is the best so long as the handle is all steel

I am all for buying American. I love my Klein and Estwing tools(made in America) However, I think most Americans began to buy foreign made products when the quality of American made products began to slip. Most American companies have lost the loyalty and trust of the American consumer. I understand that buying American made products supports local communities. American companies will have to work hard to win the trust back of its people.

I always perfer American made products and will purchase them (IF) available. So many tools are just not available made in the USA anymore and that is our fault for supporting other markets, that so-called savings is costing us jobs and insurance and a worki g wage for our neighbors.

Contract manufacturing is fascinating when you see what goes into a product from start to finish. So manufacturing in China is so successful, not because of price, but supply chain. That's why large scale manufacturing will never be big in America again, and that's okay. We want advanced manufacturing, leave the hammers and rakes to the low skilled workers of the world. Leave the high end chips to America.
