right? this is great but i really cant look at people who call this "the better version" with a straight face. if you prefer the demo version then you never liked fate of the stars for what it set out to do imo FOTS is good because it's found an impossible balance between spacey, fast-paced, and dramatic while having a chillingly calming outro. it's the only song with the spacey "sad music" vibe that i can listen to and choose not to feel the sadness because it's so good at being multiple things at once, and then be comforted by the ending anyways.

The final version of this song is my favorite song ever, but I always love hearing these demos. I noticed that the instrumental interlude at around the halfway point is totally different, and way shorter than what ended up in the final song - I’d love to hear a longer version of that though 👀
(I made a grammar mistake, so I’m reposting my comment) I’d like to give my critique of this demo: Positives: Everything from @ to the end sounds superior to the final version (especially the piano part), albeit needing some cleanup. Negatives: Having only Andrew do the vocals, which I think the final version improved on (not saying Andrew isn’t a good vocalist, but I don’t think his voice is good for the beginning part of FotS), and this version having less of the heavy vibe of the final version. Overall, good version of the song with some things that are better than what we got on Good & Evil, but I would never replace the final version with this. Someone should probably do a mix of this & the final FotS, to combine both of their sounds (I hope someone does that, cause it will be a guaranteed bop).
