Good show I still have my electrohome record player and I love it I had it for almost a year had no problems with it and not ruined any my records at all so works great and I thank you for that when I watch your video and went to buy it and hope it will last for a long time.
Idler drives ruled in the 1950s - 60s. The last idler drive I had was a Candle all in one from the early 1980s.

Super video I love when you do turntable and record player portables etc. reviews. But Mr. Ology, how long are they going to use the same mechanisms over and over and over and over and over and over again?! I'm sorry for ranting I just don't know when it's going to change I get excited for all the beautiful styles and cabinets and suitcase models that they come out with but then you open it up, and it's the same thing inside never changes the black record player or plastic with the red stylus. Sometimes we get lucky and we get the audio technica style magnetic. Somethings got to change I still have hope, another thing that worries me is do USB thumb drive recording feature is disappearing, that needs to come back for record collectors that like to record their collections and listen to their thumb drives on the go without the first of hooking it up to the computer. Is it going to get better? Are things going to change? Or is this as good as it gets forever? Again I apologize for the rant but I am very compassionate about this subject. Thank you very much my friend

Speaking of a tripod platter, I recall there was a turntable in the late 70's which had such a platter-think they command good used prices now?

That's not a bad system for what it is...shame the price has hiked so far out the realistic though... 😏. The turntable sounded pretty good with the Ted Heath LP. (did you know Ted Heath was a Conservative party Prime Minister of the UK during the 70s?)

Wouldn't a.wider platter.have more inertia, and thus more damping?
With plastic it would be minimal

It is a ceramic but yes white
Those players have always been discussed in the community. What is clear is that they are very poor quality. You can buy these units separately for 12 pounds including shipping.
Also some people say these things are not bad because you can only hear a clear difference when you play a record 100 times on these, but that's stupid, because I want to play my records more than 100 times with the same quality!
I recommend not playing valuable records on these.
