    I much prefer the ending of Harry Potter voldemort just dies slumps over dead no huge fan fair or spectacular death. it was meant to show that in the end he was just a normal person and dies like everyone else. and meant to show that evil can be just as human as the rest of us

      I always thought that the movie ending was like: "look what we can do with 3D filming!! 😃" and voldemort just dieing normal was too boring for them 😞.
      Totaly agree that a "Boring" death would be so much better.

    Every student, teacher, and death eater at Hogwarts saw him die, and for proof they can literally just rip out the memory and throw it on the big screen.

    • @tedpabst5997
      @tedpabst5997 7 лет назад +41

      Cody Rhodes in the books everyone did, but harry was the only one there in the movie, plus the way he died in the movie looks an awful lot like how his first "death" in godrics hollow is described. although the memory thing and veritaserum have always been big questions for me, like why is there so many wrongful convictions and things when they literally have a foolproof method of lie detection

    • @dragonbane44
      @dragonbane44 7 лет назад +12

      Pensieve can be fooled with altered memories so its not an effective lie detector. May be veritaserum can also be fooled, or something which restricts its use.

    • @tedpabst5997
      @tedpabst5997 7 лет назад

      dragonbane44 I have to assume veritaserum has some sort of restriction like that, otherwise why wouldn't people be lining up to try and use it to prove their innocence yknow? It would be nice if it was actually explained though

    • @dragonbane44
      @dragonbane44 7 лет назад +13

      Got the following from google search. Supposedly, it used to be on JK Rowling's website:
      "Veritaserum works best upon the unsuspecting, the vulnerable and those insufficiently skilled (in one way or another) to protect themselves against it. Barty Crouch had been attacked before the potion was given to him and was still very groggy, otherwise he could have employed a range of measures against the Potion - he might have sealed his own throat and faked a declaration of innocence, transformed the Potion into something else before it touched his lips, or employed Occlumency against its effects. In other words, just like every other kind of magic within the books, Veritaserum is not infallible. As some wizards can prevent themselves being affected, and others cannot, it is an unfair and unreliable tool to use at a trial."

    • @codyrhodes2473
      @codyrhodes2473 7 лет назад

      Well for the purposes of Government officials, basically anyone who knows about The Prophecy knows that Voldemort will never let Harry live, so Harry's continued life after a close encounter of the Voldy kind even if no one else saw the duel would be pretty good evidence for our noseless friend's demise. Once the Ministry has claimed he's dead, that's pretty much that. The fact that voldemort already "died" once, you're always gonna have people that think he's still out there somewhere, there's not much you can do about those people.

  • @TheInselaffen

    36 years and people still claim to be confused about 'that kiss.' Leia is trying to make Han jealous, the answer is in the scene for everyone to see.

    • @pphyjynx8217
      @pphyjynx8217 7 лет назад +20

      yeah, but she still kissed her TWIN BROTHER, Han would still have that conversation, and the whole leia, Luke, Han dynamic would be pretty awkward, her intentions do not matter. It's like saying the relationship in old boy was fine because he didn't know he was fucking his daughter, just on a smaller scale.

    • @sub-zero6924
      @sub-zero6924 7 лет назад +9

      Kissing someone to spite someone else isn't really close to an actual relationship in terms of awkwardness for that scene. Dudes right it makes no sense for people to be so hung over it.

    • @Theinen84
      @Theinen84 7 лет назад +5

      A 3 second closed mouth kiss doesn't exactly compare to that. He pissed her off. She kissed Luke in spite. End of story. Han's not exactly the type to get hung up on those small details. He got the girl. That's all he cares about. The more awkward thing is that talk with Lando about selling him out and why he's wearing his clothes now lol.

    • @Aeroldoth3

      And for those who don't know, there are families that kiss on the lips. Doesn't matter what you think of it, it happens. And if it can happen on earth, it sure as hell can happen without countless races and species and planets and whatnot. When people can have sex with clones and robots and tentacle monsters and telepaths, kissing your brother on the lips is completely nothing.

WELL HE JUST GOT PHOTOGRAPHED IN A POLICE LINEUP. Yeah, he walks out of the police station and is driven away just before the cops realize they let him get away but so what! They know what he looks like now. Whatever state the police station was in can have the entire state police looking within 30 minutes. The FBI and ATF can be on site in 24 hours. There is nowhere in the world for him to hide now. WTF?!?

    Why would you thing Bonie would give away the boy oriented toys just cause they're not intended for girls? Girls toys generally suck and a lot of little girls actually prefer playing with boy toys. Plus they made shorts that take place after that movie and it shows she still has all of them. To her they're not boys toys and girls toys they're just HER toys.

    • @promontorium
      @promontorium 7 лет назад +3

      Because she'll grow older either way and no real human keeps all their toys their whole life. The premise of the movies was to constantly kick the inevitable can down the road a bit further rather than dealing with the fundamental nature of objects.

    • @JordanMilly
      @JordanMilly 7 лет назад +1

      I entirely agree, that whole assumption that she'd give away the boy toys first is bollocks. My nephews play with trains and cars and things, but they also play with the toy kitchen and dolls my sister had when she was young, and they're 5 and 8 years old. Kids just don't give a shit about whether toys are intended for boys or girls, they'll play with any toys.

    • @RialVestro
      @RialVestro 7 лет назад +1

      JordanMillward1 Well boys typically tend to care more about that stuff that girls do but that's only if you tech them from a young age that pink toys are for girls. If they never learn to think that way then you're right, they really won't give a shit.
      It's more likely for girls to play with boy toys than the other way around because even if they know about the gender bias their only options are barbies, baby dolls, and other really sexist things. Of course girls are going to want to play with boy toys because there's a lot more variety in the stuff that's made for boys.
      On that same note, it took Hasbro 30 years to actually make a toy of Arcee because she's a pink and white female Transformer that back in the 80's when the character was first introduced Hasbro thought would never sell in a boy's toy line. I now own one. I think this is largely due to the large fan community online who have been asking for YEARS to get a G1 Arcee toy and they finally caved.

    • @ayyyforce

    • @MusicalIrishgrl
      @MusicalIrishgrl 7 лет назад +2

      Ted Pabst The reason why the serum wasn't used that much is that it's hard to make and takes a long time. At the end of book 5 Snape tells Umbridge exactly how long it would take I just don't remember.

    • @gracehowell.
      @gracehowell. 7 лет назад

      Ah, but was he lying to buy the others time to get to the Ministry of Magic? If Umbridge didn't know enough about potions, she'd believe anything, since he's the potions master.

    • @MusicalIrishgrl
      @MusicalIrishgrl 7 лет назад

      That's true he could be lying but usually when you are stalling for time you use truth because it is the easiest thing to grab onto. Although admittedly he was also using the length of time to make the serum as a stall in of itself. But, it is the only part of the book (therefore in cannon) I remember how long it takes to make the serum being mentioned aka the most accurate estimate we have even if not completely certifiably accurate. This would be a question for J.K. herself. I can try tweeting her see if she responds. I can look it up in Pottermore as well to see if it is in there somewhere. Is there an in cannon potions book? I'll look and see if there is such a book and it should be there if such a book exists.

Love your videos guys, but not sure where you're getting your facts from, whatculture

    • @thatguyfromak5190
      @thatguyfromak5190 7 лет назад +2

      That still dosn't change the fact those toys are marketed to and ment to be played with by boys. That dosn't mean girls can't play with and enjoy them as well of course.

    • @LeanneMustafa
      @LeanneMustafa 7 лет назад +5

      but in the context whatculture mentioned that, we weren't talking about marketing woody and his friends -- it was about bonnie, a child who loves playing with toys regardless of what she was suppose to be doing. Like, okay, you can say that call of duty is marketed towards teen boys and young men, but that doesnt stop or even effect my 9 year old sister from playing call of duty whenever she's home. so.. do you see what im saying? marketing is cool and all, but it doesnt apply on every single person, there will be exceptions, and one of those is bonnie who clearly loves all of her toys regardless of the market strategy

      Well to be fair, Voldemort's been "destroyed" before. Why should people think this was any different than the time he apparently died 18 years ago?
      The books went as far as describing Voldemort's body falling on the ground as "mundane". Making sure everyone around knew that there was nothing special about Riddle without his Horcruxes, and that it was all over now.
      The body becoming dust and disappearing? Well he's survived that two times already, I wouldn't be that sure it was the end of him.

    That was the main reason I didn't like Man of Steel. Lois called Superman Clark in front of other people so many times. Zod, attacked the Kent's house multiple times. The army literally picked up a spaceship there. Then the people who worked with Clark should've noticed him even the guy who got his truck destroyed should've said something. Hell, Lois found Clark without even seeing Superman.

    • @Theinen84
      @Theinen84 7 лет назад +3

      I took that as part of the faith in mankind. She didn't call him Clark in front of numerous people. That's mostly when they were alone. In front of others, she called him nothing and then finally named him, though off scene. The army didn't get a ship from there. Zod only came there once. Then the Kent farm damage could easily be explained as the fallout from the fight.
      Still, unlike the rest of the world, the people of Smallville knew Clark growing up. He was their classmate, played with their kids, saved their lives left and right. Then, to top it all off, Clark Kent is always considered a hometown hero. They know him. He's not just a stranger that suddenly appeared to him. The people of Smallville actually gave Lois the run around. She just pieced together enough info from the people he met in his travels to know she's on the right track. They deflected and didn't answer anything until he approached her himself. She even says she didn't expect them to tell her anything, but knew if she kept asking questions around there, he'd show up sooner or later.
      The most glaring hint the military got is, at the end, when he downed the drone that was following him. He said he grew up in Kansas. That and, he also told them he'd been there for 30 years.
      Coming from a small town community myself, don't underestimate how quick, and how easy, they'll come together to protect one of their own from "outsiders".

    • @babserella2778

      And also -- you don't just stop recognizing someone because they put glasses on. Superman is photographed non-stop...but nobody at the NEWSPAPER where he WORKS ever goes, "Uuuuuh, wait a minute..." It's like the people in Gotham who never figure out Batman is Bruce Wayne. Who else would have the resources for all of his tech? And at the end of Nolan's trilogy, Batman and Bruce both "die" at the same time and no one makes the connection? I HAVE VALID QUESTIONS.

    • @Theinen84
      @Theinen84 7 лет назад

      babserella2778
      Nah, you looking at it wrong. You're looking at the complete picture. Everyone else doesn't have that complete picture.
      In the case of Superman, he suddenly announces himself to the world, says he's here to help. Says his name is Kal-El. The average person in that world has no concept of the full range of his abilities. He's so busy saving the day locally and around the world. They just don't expect him to even *have* a secret identity. Even if someone recognizes the resemblance, his mannerisms as Clark act as another layer of disguise. Superman has x-ray vision. You wouldn't think he'd need glasses. Superman reveals his entire face. You wouldn't think he'd have the need to hide. They'd just chalk it up to him just looking like him, sort of like celebrity look alikes. You can see a celeb casually going down the street. Maybe they're in your town just passing through, but, because you expect them to have an entourage, or never be in a place like that, you just pass them by.
      In Batman's case, even in the movies, they show how people figure it out, all the time. He just silences them one way or another. No super hero's secret identity is actually a full on secret. They have a circle of trust. There are others that know their identities and help them perpetrate them. They're unsung heroes.
      As for Bruce and Clark dying the same day as heroes, you have to consider that those are events where a *lot* of people died. A lot of people died trying to take back Gotham. Bruce is the prince of Gotham, that's why his case was reported. Clark is one of many to die during the Doomsday attack, but he was only largely reported by the Daily Planet. They've evolved the concept of secret identities pretty well over the year.

      Artoria Pendragon
      what do you mean explain it? There's really not a lot to explain. If you mean when Lois went to Pete, she went to him already asking about the bus going off the bridge. If she knows about that, and she *is* an investigative reporter... then she can very easily know the names of the kids on the bus, hence her coming to Pete to begin with.
      That expression Pete gave her as soon as she mentioned it was that knowing look, as if he was used to it. He told her nothing. She's seen Clark. So she knows he's not a she. There were more girls than boys on the bus and she only needed to look at a yearbook to match a name to the face. Not to mention the local paper archives at the library would also have an article on it. Pete obviously knew about Clark. He's a minor character in the movies, but there's a reason he was the one comforting Martha at the end of BvS. Pete Ross is Clark Kent's best friend growing up. They even had him on Smallville. In one of the flashbacks, after the bus incident, he helps him up from the bullies, wordlessly. Not only is that his friend, but he knows how easy it would be for him to deal with them if he wanted, not to mention glad he didn't piss him off too much when he was the bully lol.
      Still, not hard to get the name and go ask Martha. Martha also told her nothing. If you meant during the fight, Pete and Clark gave each other that look and he started fighting a bit harder and momentarily took the upper hand. But yeah. Like it's said in the movie, they told her nothing. Still, she had enough info and put together enough pieces of the puzzle to know she was in the right place. So she kept asking questions until he showed up.

    Umm... Superman "murdered" Zod in Superman 2 as well. What... was dropping him off the cliff, after he lost his powers making him unable to fly, not "murder" as well? At least Lois knew who Superman was and wasn't so stupid that she let a pair of glasses fool her into thinking he's a different person altogether. MOS isn't perfect but neither are any of those flawed Superman movies from back in the day. They're actually worse... spinning the world backwards which also reverses time and memory erasing kisses. Yeah... MOS wins plus it's much more fun to watch.

      There is a scene showing Zod and the others being arrested by police but IIRC it was cut from the theatrical release and only put in for VHS much later, or something similar.

      I have thought the same thing. Why don't his parents recognize him as the guy that helped George but only remember Biff as being the reason why they are together. Why not Marty? Unless it's like Griffin says to Agent J in MIB 3 "Once Boris loses his arm K won't know you were here". And when J meets K at the Cafe K doesn't remember doesn't remember J being there in 1969 with him. Could be the same with Marty and his parents. But I have always wondered why his parents didn't recognize him when he grew up.

Part of what made the final showdown so exciting in the books is that all of Harry's loved ones and fellow students/teachers got to witness Harry's triumph and Voldemort's demise! Also, that awesome moment where it's dead silent then hundreds of people explode into joy all at once as it hits them that he's REALLY dead!

      the big change is harry's final clash with voldemort after his supossed death. they really fight it out in the movie while in the book they circle each other while talking and they only attack each other once. the other big change are the death scenes of bellatrix and nagini. basically the same as voldemort's death

      Harry obviously would think Voldemort was dead, but who could prove that he wasn't just ghostified again like what happened when he first tried to kill Harry? All the truth potion would do would be make Harry say "I killed him", but it would still not create any evidence.

    Alternate ending by the book ending. What happened after Voldy dropped dead?
    So Voldemort's dead body lays there, mouth open, dead, still with the look of "Oh crap, NO!!!" on his face. There would have been the question on what to do with Voldemort's dead corps. After people got done kicking it and spitting on it, it probably would have been burned on a pyre outside school grounds, along with a few other of the dead bodies. There would have been a big crowd around to see it, to let it assure them that the Dark Lord was truly dead. Then Harry would have walked over to the fire and held up the Elder Wand and the crowd would have gasp! Someone yells, "No! Harry!" Ron runs up to Harry and says, "Harry, that's the Elder Wand, the most powerful wand in the world. It's yours, with that wand you could be invincible!" Harry looks at it and smiles, turning it around in his hand, and then Harry tosses the most powerful wand in existence into the blaze! They watch it for a few seconds then look at each other. The three friends join hands and walk off the hill as the huge fire burns so much evil behind them. They are silhouetted by the glow of the fire at their back and the orange light of the rising Sun in front of them. There's no sound but the crackle of the fire and the gravel under their feet as they walk away. The End.

    10 - Yeah, this one is kind of messed up.
    9 - I think Magneto was never caught after he lost his powers, not that he was let go.
    8 - Well, Mindy did say she has $3,000,000 in a suitcase, and probably can get a lot more from other criminals she takes out. She's also proven to be very smart to and knowledgable. As for an eventual job, she could be a martial artist instructor or something.
    7 - OMG, what if something "happened" between Luke and Leia before they rescued Han from Jabba and Kylo Ren is actually Luke's son. Don't forget, Luke and Leia did think the love they felt for each other was romantic before they realized it was sibling. This might explain why Ren is so messed up. Yikes.
    6 - No comment.
    5 - Well, love at first sight DOES happen.
    4 - The people might be too afraid to expose Superman's identity. Or just plain grateful that they don't say anything.
    3 - It can be assumed that since her mother works at the daycare, she would probably just bring the toys there.
    2 - Well, there are ways to get rid of a body without it being traced to you. It's not easy, but many movie characters have done it.
    1 - Well, Voldemort disappearing and leaving only his robes behind and a pile of ashes would be a good indicator. And like you said, Harry could just drink a Truth potion and give a public statement.

There would be lawyers in response to the message that gets sent out, lawyers in response to the arrival, there would be long lapses in between hearings, but the lawyers would be scrambling to take the case anyway, because they typically get 40 - 60% of the settlement.

    • @Theinen84
      @Theinen84 7 лет назад +2

      Agreed. For Adjustment Bureau, for example, I only saw it once, but I distinctly remember them having very real chemistry and drawn to each other before knowing the truth. She even helped with his speech and he was willing to blow off something important to be with her a bit longer. The point was they were actually destined to be together until a plan was changed, but their connection was so strong that, despite everything, they're still drawn together. The intense experience, in this case, was trying to tear them apart. It's not what brought them together, like in Speed. So that logic doesn't apply.
      For Man of Steel, I already took away that the town of Smallville was working with Clark and sort of unsung heroes. Yeah, it sucks. They took a lot of damage to the town, but this is the guy that had been saving them, left and right, without asking for anything in return. They went to school with this guy, or saw him playing with their friends and such. Not to mention, Clark is always considered a hometown hero anyway. They didn't even give Lois any real info. She'd just pieced together enough before getting there. They actually gave her the run around and deflected until Clark approached her himself. She kinda even says as much, saying it didn't matter because if she poked around enough, she knew he'd turn up.
      For Potter, in the movie version, they'd still have no reason to doubt Harry because they want to believe Voldermort never returned to begin with. Not to mention the war stopping, freely speaking his name without consequence, and stuff like that. Harry also took the elder wand. It's not like old noseless would just let that happen.
      I think the Leia kissing Luke thing would, honestly, be a bit more funny. People act like that's such a big deal. It wasn't a sexual kiss. It was, obviously, even closed mouth. They just hung on it for a bit. It was done to make him jealous. Han is, obviously, also not the type to get caught up in things like that. A more awkward thing would be "Yo... Lando... did you *really* sell me out to Vader just over a bet man?! And why are you wearing my clothes?!?"

    During Harry and Voldemort's final battle, if you pause the scene in the wide shots with both of them on either side of the screen you can see some people standing far of in the backgrounds around the courtyard watching the battle. And when the camera pans up after Voldemort deteriorates you can see Neville standing in the doorway behind Harry.

    One thing I found horrible about Deathly Hallows part 2 was the change of the setting in which Voldemort and Harry dueled. It just didn't feel epic enough for me knowing no one actually saw that...or the fact that Harry never got his super cool "speech" type thing

      Esther Hulst the movies stopped making complete sense when they made Goblet. I remember thinking through the whole movie “No! They skipped that! This next thing can’t happen if he didn’t do that. But it happened! That doesn’t make sense. This is bullshit. HE DIDN’T DO THAT! THAT’S NOT MY DUMBLEDORE!” and being totally pissed by the end. I think that was actually the last one I saw in theatre. Not spending that much money if they butchered the source material. I’ll wait till I can watch at home and bitch to my leisure

    The Talented Mr. Ripley already had experience getting rid of dead bodies at sea... the implication is that he dumped it in the sea under cover of night. If he weighed it down, no one will ever find it. But even if he didn't, the coast guard wouldn't find it until the next day at the earliest, more likely several days. Would they still be able to identify it, and know how it ended up floating in the Mediterranean?

    IMO Magneto Ending can be explained if there's more screen time.
    maybe day after the war, the government can't find any trace of mutant from Magneto thus makes him nothing more than harmless fragile elder.
    to avoid more mutants controversy they decided to treat Magneto and his brotherhood with care rather than bloody revenge, try to extinguish mutants hatred with human compassion.
    thus Magneto end up in nursing home, symbolic he now life in compassion from humanity he hated soo much.

    • @Theinen84
      @Theinen84 7 лет назад

      Nah. It's actually much simpler than that.
      He got up and ran away, disappearing in the confusion from the chaos of Jean getting killed. It was obvious he wasn't weakened from getting injected. That was all just a show to trigger Jean. He acted like he was dying, which, to someone like him, losing his powers *is* like death. Still, we see that panic on his face when "Phoenix" takes over and he starts getting up to leave.
      This is Magneto. This guy is no stranger to being on the run and laying low. The guy escaped Nazi Germany, after all, and from inside a concentration camp no less. He also has absolutely no reason to make himself known since the defense he's relied upon his entire life is now gone. It's even established in the movies how hard it is for the government to find him. They only had him in X2 because he was still pretty weakened from Rogue draining him, the explosion, his forces beat and all that. In X3, they were still discussing how they couldn't find him, right as he's about to free Mystique.
      He just escaped lol.

      You guys are getting way too hung up on that. You act like people commit stuff like that to memory. Girls can make themselves look completely different with some simple makeup to the point that you can't believe it's the same person. If someone showed you a picture of a celebrity and their spouse. Then, a week or two later, just showed you a different picture of the spouse, without the celebrity, 9/10 you would recognize them. Not to mention Magneto is considered nothing more than a terrorist, an extremely dangerous one at that. Do you really think the government would cause mass panic by telling the public he's currently disappeared? They probably reported him dead. Only the X-Men, or what was left of them, knew he had been depowered.
      There's like so many different explanations that don't need you to add on to the information given. People just keep reading stories like that, or watching movies like that and stuff, and just think from their perspective and all of the information they've been given. You have to look at it from the limited perspective of the characters involved. There's countless pictures online of people thinking they see a celeb and taking a picture only for it to be some random person. They see the celeb because they were looking for it. The reasons would take longer to explain than I care to do right now, but it's a real thing and a trick of the brain. Unless there was someone specifically looking for him, there's very little chance of him getting spotted.

    And that is one of the main reasons book readers were upset about Voldemort's death in the movie, i mean visually it was stunning but it did lack the finality provided in the books.
    The in-movie-universe implications that could come from the way Voldemort died here are huge.
    Factor in that outside of the Golden Trio, Dumbledore, Regulus Black, Slughorn, and Voldy himself no one else in the wizarding world knew about the Horcruxes. So for all they know Voldemort could return again later down the line, because i'm pretty sure it's mentioned in the books that Voldemort's body was destroyed the first time he tried to kill Harry, so in the universe of the films there's no way to know for certain he is truly gone this time either.
    I mean i love the films for what they are, flaws and all but they honestly could've done allot better. I also don't believe for one second that J.K. Rowling was as involved in the movie adaptations as they claim she was as J.K. Rowling has said that Goblet of Fire only ended up as long as it was because she had accidentally created a huge plot-hole that would've effected the rest of the books and decided to go back and fix it and so rather than start from scratch. I doubt anyone who would go to those lengths to fix a plot-hole would allow the major cuts the directors made without creating a substitute for it.

  • @deathab0ve

    Wait what? Marty doesn't need to adjust because we know EXACTLY what happens next. He goes to the future. The opening scene of Back To The Future 2 is the end scene of Back To The Future 1. Then 3 happens right after 2. So if anything the ending to #3 is the awkward moment, so much more has happened to him at that point.

    Actually regardless of which way voldemort died there's a HUGE problem that's never addressed... the power vacuum. Unlike the first wizarding war, the second time Voldemort had succeeded in taking over the government and as such many of his followers went from being mere soldiers hiding in the shadows, to positions of power and prestige. So when voldemort died, regardless of witnesses, the real war was about to begin as his underlings, some of which quite powerful and influencial, would have almost immeadiately began filling the void left by voldemort. When voldemort dies the wizarding government is totally in voldemorts control and he's painstakenly weeded out most if not all resistance and killed them. As such The whole notion that the war just...ends ... after voldemorts death is unbelievable. Some of his most powerful sevrvants would have likely had a back up plan should voldemort have been defeated to take control for themselves. This would have quickly devolved into splinter factions vying to control the government, wizard society falling apart at the seems without functioning governance, and savage retribution against anyone on team harry. Harry would be cast by many groups, both for and against voldemort, as an instigator and the cause behind hundreds of deaths, many of which being children. They would tell the people that potter was working with voldemort all along that he and the dark lord worked in tandem to sow as much chaos and distrust among wizarding kind as possible only for harry to eventually betray his dark mentor and attempt to claim power for himself. Eentually former pro voldemort followers would retain most of the power they gained in the war and very quickly harry would become public enemy number one as he's scape goated as a means to heal the divide, he becomes a common enemy of both the people and the dark lord. This would have made a fascinating continuation of harry potter.

    That awkward moment that starts just as "The Graduate" ends when both characters simulatneously realize what they've done, and that they are probably not gonna last as a couple... (not that it probably wasn't the right thing for the girl to decide NOT to marry that guy her parents had basically chosen for her, but I do find it funny the way even the movie seems to acknowledge that the two of them don't know what to do next by having both their smiles fade away at the exact same time)
