Organizing leftovers from old bead boxes into Deep Stash

  • One of my most frequently asked questions is what I do with my monthly bead boxes when I'm finished designing out of them. Some go on the shelf just as they are, if they're mostly full. Others I combine with a similar bead box and they go onto the shelf like that, but then there are the bead boxes that are almost empty or full of a lot of disparate beads. I've been putting off making bead soup and sorting them by color, telling myself "I'll take care of that later" and it's now later, so I'm going through this process.
    This is going to be a fairly long video. I've sped up the most tedius parts, but it still took aaages. I mostly sorted beads by color & sorted them into these organizers:
    I will be sorting through the spacers and bead caps another day (and probably on my own) but the beads are all where they should be and I have so many emptyy bead boxes to sort my new monthly boxes into!

    Thank you so much for this tutorial. I needed this. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed with all the beads, findings, etc that I have accumulated over the years that I don't do anything with them. Now I feel that I have some direction and hopefully the creative juices will begin to flow once I get somewhat organized. I appreciate your tutorials especially the coversation while you are creating/organizing/sorting.....

    Wow! Way to go Beki! I have to admit I was getting a bit anxious when you first started dumping your boxes out to make your soup. So satisfying to see the result though. I think that at least half of beading is the organizing part. Happy creating with your newly organized beads!

    Amazing amount of work and so productive! The beads got sorted! The metals got sorted! Etc, etc. I am slowly starting to organize stuff using you as a model. I have a bead room with beads everywhere. They are in bins and bags and It's scary!! I am gradually (sorta like the movement of the tectonic plates, every 100,000 years or so) trying to envision a new way to use the space. I started storing my Curated Bead boxes in the larger storage box you recommended. I can fit two of the boxes very nicely in there so I started to look at the curated boxes in terms of themes and it's working nicely. If I can't find 2 compatible boxes, I go by the theme of one box and add like beads from my stash. I have to order more boxes. I think spending my money that way will help me get it together. I was very much influenced by what you do organizationally. This video was like a class in "if you want to design, you have to get your stuff together." And I loved the music during your getting the bead soup in order. Such great ideas! Thanks Beki, as always.

      @@BekitoBurrito uhh yeah you kept adding and adding. I just watched your herringbone video and been practicing. Can I ask you, what’s the smallest you would wrap and what’s the largest? Also, does the shape of the bead look better just using round for the herringbone technique?

    • @BekitoBurrito
      @BekitoBurrito  7 дней назад +1

      @@Uniquely-You oh boy! What great questions. I think I might not use herringbone wrap with a bead smaller than 4mm, because I feel like it would get lost in the wires a bit. But you could wrap so many different shapes and get some pretty unique results, I think!

    • @Uniquely-You
      @Uniquely-You 7 дней назад

      @BekitoBurrito ok cool ty! It makes sense now that you said the size. I'd be fumbling the 4mm for sure, lol. But hey, I want to tell you thank you for sharing so many great and unique styles and pieces! It's a lot of hard work coming up with designs, putting them together, and then editing! I've learned so much from you & and you're a great teacher!
