Sorry everyone! I just realized comments were accidentally turned off! Hello!!
Hello
Hello
You can pin this ?
That happens. We all make mistakes. We just have to learn from them and be careful to not make the same mistake again.
What app is that I don’t know =^
Oliver is SO adorable ❤️💜 Zach is so handsome too💜❤️ Thanks for bringing yourself out there, grateful and appreciate you!
Hey Sarah! Your drawing was amazing!
So, there is a tool in procreate located in the third left to right icon on the left. It is called "liquify." It is amazing for changing slightly the proportions without changing the painting. I think it would be a great addition to your digital art knowledge!
Ooh thanks!
@@SarahRenaeClark hii I’m from Australia too
@@SarahRenaeClark hi! I love ur videos and they inspired me to create my own channel recently @pot ofart
You did great! I can't wait to see the final version. And YES, you should try real watercolor! I like the channels Paintcrush with Kristy Rice and Jenna Rainey. They are both especially good with florals, and how to make all the shapes you want with each kind of brush. Thanks for all your work!
Your portrait absolutely captures his cuteness and sweet face. I went to school for graphic design but haven't worked a lot with portraits. I definitely am not skilled enough to do a whole portrait. I am still learning myself. Its alil discouraging when you're a perfectionist and want art to look like you see it in a photo or from your mind. You inspire me to know that not every work of art i create has to be perfect but wanting to learn and improve to get there is encouraging. I believe tracing and image is a good starting point and I really love how you kept going and made Oliver's portrait really reflect his personality with the color.
Thank you for sharing a little bit about your family, it made this painting so special, and the final piece (so far) has turned out awesome! Also, I didn't know you could do a watercolour effect in Procreate - time to try watercolour in real life I think😅
U ARE MY FAV RUclipsR
This video resonated with me a lot! it's so hard not to be critical and impatient with oneself, especially when you were a "gifted" kid. How you speak of your family was very moving too. My mother is blind, so she never saw me develop my artistic skills, and she can never see the portraits I've made of her, although I tried to describe them as much as I could...
You can tell how meaningful this piece is to you. You took so much time to learn the techniques so you could understand the program and make something you could be proud of. Your 3 year old may not care about it much now, but years down the road I'm sure he will treasure the piece and the time that went into it. 💕
I have watched u for a long time now and I just want to say that I have seen so much improvement in your art! In fact u r giving me the courage to possibly start a channel and not be so critical with my art. As long as I improve that’s all that is important! Thank u for helping me realize that i don’t have to be perfect or so hard on my self and keep up the good work! I’m so proud of how far u have come except u make this digital art look easy and i have been trying it a lot lately and i know it definitely is not easy!
Thank you! I know a lot of people see my content and assume I’ve always been good at some of this, but anyone who has watched me for a while can see that I’m learning a lot as I go!
Go for it, girl 💪💪💪
OMGG!! I've been waiting for this video of you trying digital art for a long time! I started doing digital portraits at the beginning of this year and it's such an overwhelming experience but after learning more about digital and traditional painting, I started to get a hang on it. So just have fun and practice, practice and practice
This is amazing!!! You did so well on this! And you should totally try out watercolor! When choosing watercolor, make sure to get some halfway descent paints AND paper. If you don't, you will end up fighting with the materials. I've learned the hard way.
this is soo relatable. thank you for taking us through the process. it shows that when you push through the hard parts you will eventually get to the good parts. you did a really great job!
You did an incredible job even if it was the first time trying this type of art. I'm so sorry for your loss. The photo is such a great photo of Oliver. Fun fact my daughter who is named Liliana would have been named Oliver if she had of been a boy :) I think most artist feel that same fear that our art isn't good enough, that we can't make it look how we expect it to come out.
This was great. I've had Procreate on my device since I got it. It is woefully underused. This gives me more confidence to make ugly art first.
This is an amazing piece. Congratulations on the progress!
I'm so glad you tried this! I love digital, and using Procreate was so intuitive - i'm a huge fan. Your first attempt was super impressive and the portrait looks amazing.
I love your channel so much!!! I really love your message of how it’s good to be brave enough to make mistakes and experiment, and that being good at art takes patience and effort and is not magically gifted to anyone. Not just art, but any skill. Thank you for your amazing content!!!
Looks wonderful Sarah!! 💗
“We are aiming for progress not perfection”- Sarah Renae Clark 2022
I think I might put this quote up in my Art classroom
I totally identify with stopping when things get challenging! Good job sticking with it and sharing your learning process with us. Oliver is adorable your painting of him is great!
This is so fascinating to watch! As someone who’s mostly a digital artist, it’s so fun to see folks get into digital art, learning all the features and etc! 💕
WOW!!!!! You have really nailed this, and I so appreciate all your encouragement. I myself have just started digital coloring only I am using the Pigment app. All your remarks about not liking what you are doing, etc. I have had so many times. Please keep up your awesome work. I truly appreciate everything you do.
Wow Sarah ! Your digital drawing turned out amazing. Beautiful both of your children !
As a complete novice to digital art as well, this is fantastic, not just the art itself but the fact that you're willing to give it a try. It's these kinds of videos that help me want to push the boat out more than I do, so thank you for that
You did such an AMAZING job here Sarah… I really want to see more of this kind of videos from you … I have to check that Skillshare class out 🥰
You are so-so talented=3 Such a lovely video!
I love how real and authentic you are 💕
I'm one of those artists that hasn't started drawing or painting digitally but think I might someday try it.
I enjoyed watching someone take that first step. I know it'd help me for when I'm ready.
I love all your video’s but this one hits in the feels. You did a great job.
You did great. I can’t wait to see the finished piece
I feel you with the learning things easily and so not pushing through when things are hard.
I really respect your honesty here. Regarding learning, I had those same struggles - either I was good at something quickly or I quit. I was afraid of failure and all kinds of things. I've finally truly returned to art with a similar commitment to try new things and push my own boundaries. I'd love to see you try traditional watercolor also. If you do, make sure you get a high quality product and good paper - that can make a huge difference in how satisfying the process is. Thank you!
this video is beautiful. the messenge. the way you talk about your family. beautiful.❤️
Well done! Both on progress learning something completely new, and continuing to learn the lesson of persistence.
I've been curious to try digital art for several years, but I don't have a tablet.
YOU are amazing...love watching you....and LOVEEEE that you challenge yourself because it has inspired ME to try things I might not have tried...THANK YOU for being so encouraging!!!!!!!!!! and the portrait of your son IS EVERYTHING!!! I lovelovlove it!!! Cheers from California!!!
I needed this. I think SO MANY people need to hear this. Even if you’ve managed to apply these skills to professional pursuits, it often feels so hard to give permission to passions. I’ve heard this advice before and applied to to school over a decade ago and found profound satisfaction in “seeing how far I could go” rather than sticking to where I am comfortable but have found it so hard with my passions & art. I received my first ever iPad for my birthday and have been wanting to explore it more but the fear of failure is immense. Your encouragement and sage advice is wonderful.
Also, what’s that glove thing and how does one get one? Seems really beneficial!
You can probably find this glove or similar on Amazon. If you search “Articka drawing glove” you’ll find it
@@SarahRenaeClark Thank you!
Your little boy is so cute! I think you really captured him in your painting
Thank you thank you THANK YOU for mentioning the time it took at the few hours point.
So many times, I see videos like this without mention to how long a piece took, then feel discouraged when I can't make something beautiful in 20 minutes.
I need to learn to be kinder to myself, and give myself more time.
I appreciate this and can completely relate! Everything takes longer than you’d think at first. But it gets faster with practice
I have had Corel Painter for years, and years. Love it!
Thank you for being so brave and try this technique. I still find digital a bit hard, being a traditional artist all my life. Sometimes, I also feel overwhelmed by the products of all those awesome digital artists.
heyyy Sarah :) that's a very nice video and thank you for sharing us your tries :)
digital can be hard at the beginning, cuz its actually a different art-medium And its actually - painting.
having said that, I see your comfort zone is pencils and well - drawing and building up the colors.
so I think it can be easier for you at the beginning to digital-coloring a coloring page, using the procreate pencil brushes, that way you can build up the confident with digital realm a bit more.
I can’t believe you never painted digitally! I love the freedom!
So much fun to watch you do this. Yes, yes, yes. Please learn to watercolor and share it with us.
Omg! They look amazing 🤩! You learned a lot in a short time. Well, the only new thing that I learned by myself is not flat lightning and shading. Well kinda (probably only will be used for cartoony drawings). But this helped me a lot.
I love digital art. It so much more freeing using layers because it requires time more than skill to create something that looks aesthetically pleasing, however I do not do people. I can get a simple shape correct but doing stuff like clothes and face structure is just really difficult and way more out of my comfort zone.
Even thought my art is the basic of the basic, it's still really fun cause everyday I'm learning more about lighting and shadows along with new simple techniques to make the simplest thing look better. I'm such a perfectionist and digital art has helped me get out of that mindset.
Extremely well-done for a first try!
I found a new list of must-haves to colour on Colouring Heaven and two are pencil extenders and a clip-on LED light. I see you have added a colouring glove (?)! And the list goes on...
Keep on trying.
Definitely try watercolour! Why not? I've had to take a dip into acrylic painting recently with practically no experience and like you, have found it hard to persist during tough times. I want to get better but I'm not quite there yet - this gives me soooo much motivation!!!
hey Sarah! both your paintings were amazing, and you should definitely try watercolors, also i know you did a video trying out 100 adult coloring app, so you could do a similar video trying different digital art apps, although i would love to try procreate but that is not possible for me right now, so other similar suggestions will be great for the time being
Very beautiful drawing sarah👍
Hes so adorable❤️ thank you so much for sharing your story with us❤️
😻😻
Oh my goodness, I’ve waited SO LONG for you to use Procreate! I use an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil for some of my art, and I’ve wanted to see your experience with the app😱🤩😂🤗
It's gorgeous!!!
I absolutely loved this
looks good good job!
I for one, and it would seem I'm far from alone, am grateful you try so much stuff and do videos for it. I am 60 now and have just started my creative journey and your channel and the things you do have been a great inspiration.
This was so great!
Sarah, you are doing great. Reference & practice is vital!! Great result!!!👍🤟🪡🎨
Hi Sarah It looks amazing! You should absolutely try watercolor painting, it takes a while to learn it properly, but in the end you will be really glad you did it, because it is such
a soft and therapeutic type of painting and it is far easier to set it up than acrylic and oil painting. If you can do it digitally, you will be able to do it for real!
The end result is so cute!
Soooooo cute, great effort!
Yes i think you should try traditional watercolor it has been on my do it later list for so long!
Omg you should definitely try water color that is something that I have been so into but I find it very scary to try a new skill after watching the video I think I'm just gonna try it, your video was so moving amazing work you just brighten up my days 💜
What a precious photo! You did a beautiful job so far, can't wait to see the finished work. And yes please! I'd love to see you try watercolor paints! I've been trying to learn myself, after checking out a book by Ana Victoria Calderon from the library. She has skillshare classes as well that I really want to take ^_^
I have to admit that I now draw almost exclusively digitally because my perfectionism gets in the way too much when I draw traditionally. In addition, it is also simply practical, because with the iPad and the associated pen you can have everything with you on the go to draw something quickly.
Wow I love it 💗
Oliver is SO CUTE!!!! and both paintings turned out beautifully!!! Your videos always inspire me to be more creative! Thank you for making amazing videos and awesome products!
Also Shane is an incredible video editor! If he’s ever up to be on camera lol he should have a skill share course or a monthly video on youtube teaching certain things cause your videos are always edited perfectly! I can’t imagine how long it take him to edit these! Thank you Shane!!
I’ll pass on your feedback to him!
Yes for trying real watercolors :) and I love your channel!
I love both painting. I Would love to see you try watercolor
Hey there 'funny girl' you did such a great job with Oliver's digital portrait! Now you have to do one of Zach😊 I've never tried digital art .. it looks like loads of fun! I'll have to give it a go! Again, beautifully done🥰❤
Wow you did awesome.
When in procreate using a reference photo like you did in the beginning. You can still use the dropper tool to select colors from the reference photo. I use procreate all the time
Beautiful portrait. I would love to see you try watercolour
You did an amazing job on that photo of your son! Both of your son’s are so adorable and cute! I wish I could do art like you but I just don’t have the patience and time to do any kind of art like that! You did a wonderful job and it looks sooo realistic! I really love your channel! Can’t wait for your next one!🦄❤️🥰❤️🦄
I never thought I had the patience either. We can surprise ourselves when we just try!
@@SarahRenaeClark I guess I could give a lot of those art projects a try as well as try drawing! My drawings suck though! I don’t know if I can be as good as you and what you did! I love your artwork Sarah!
This made me emotional. ❤️
Mee too😻😻😻
Definitely should try watercolor 🥰
One thing I would highly recommend is getting a case for your iPad that will help hold it upright on the table, so that you aren’t hunched over, hurting your back. There are several good ones that are cheap and also have the auto lock feature that puts your iPad in sleep mode. (I also recommend a Bluetooth keyboard, but that’s a 100% personal preference.) I personally prefer upright VS at an angle and I never hold my iPad when drawing, it cramps a lot. There’s a lot more I could add, such as brushes and how to adjust the stream lining, etc., but for that, I would like to suggest RUclipsr Bardot Brush and her video for intro to Procreate so you can learn more about the many different features Procreate has to offer. Now, with all that said, wonderful job on your art. Please keep working hard on it.
I took the case off for the video, but I think I’ll leave it on for next time. My head just ended up in the camera’s way anyway, because I was trying to see around reflections. The angle would have been easier!
I actually use procreate to help me do line drawings sometimes for my watercolors…. There are botanical studies I want to do in watercolor and I want to make sure I get the specimen right and procreate allows that for me! But I have also dabbled in creating my own digital art… and I want to do a portrait of one of my dogs, she so beautiful, her name is Bella!
Love it
You are the best in drawing and painting ❤❤❤❤❤❤
As a fellow “quick learner” who didn’t have to learn to persist, your little motivational speech hit home for me
Yes, learn watercolor, please. Your portrait looks awesome. You could have a video where you go through some of your unfinished art work.
Hey Sarah
Wondering if you could do a review on the style file marker? I’ve been thinking about buying them so I could use your option.thanks
love it
That so cuteee
Hi artist. Thanks for this video.. The best artwork myfriend nice to meet yours
When are you going to try watercolor? 😍 I’ve been waiting since you did the “Spending $1,000 on art supplies” video.
You are very brave and wow! What an amazing picture. Yes, please try real water colour painting! It is much messier and much harder in certain respects. It will be very entertaining too, but I love seeing you succeed at things. Good on you. Yes, you are inspiring. That is why I want to support you and your channel in ways that I am able. Thank you for this video.
Did you ever finish? Thos was soo good. Id love a video of you doing the clothing and finishing. Or even just the finished product.
Have you heard how Hanna Karlzon is? I ordered one of her books today, so I had her on my mind. Your talent is 👏
oliver is adorable and the drawing is the best
Hello Sarah can u please do a video on learning how to paint with gouche
Your first digital portrait is very nice 💖 and it is special for being your son ☺️💖...It's challenging to finish it in one day and if you're right why don't you finish it 😲☺️👍✨
I draw little digitally but it took me three days 🕐😅 because I'm learning and I think it's time to learn the tools and brush strokes to use 🤔😊 Yes!! you could paint with watercolors 👍✨🎨🖌️ It's relaxing and beautiful!
I like how you being artist for a long time don’t do a masterpiece every time you try something new. Almost all RUclips artist somehow master new techniques in one video so I never can relate to them. It’s sad to see that everyone can do it great while trying something new and I can’t. You still did a great job for the beginner!
how you think about making webcomics via digital art?
You can select colors from the reference box with the dropper tool! Just hold one finger on the screen to select the color you want 😊
Thank you! I didn’t know this!
can you please review the amazon color pencils? I’ve heard that they are the closest to prisma. also great video!! :)
Great job,you did it awesome👍👍👍👍👍. I myself want to do also for so so long digitale painting . I bought myself a mini ipad especially to draw/paint with procreate but the only thing I did is coloring drawings with it. I too am very insecure and think I can't do it but if you can?.......maybe me too😉😊
Can you please color Cruella or Ursula? I would so love to see your rendition of them!
Tip on procreate you can back out to the gallery and duplicate the piece I do this for all of my work to save the line art clean , that way if I totally mess up I still have the line art 😅 to start over
Oh gosh, I have never been good at drawing humans, unless stick figures (in which I make great stick figures). And I'm making a game where I gotta make characters for their text portrait, and while learning style wise that I'm going with it, while also learning techniques, I'm also learning it digitally on old technology. I'll create characters and then improve or change how I stylize, and then I end up going back and doing all the characters again in the new style lol. So I kind of relate to this lol.
