    The language "next cheaper" is not clear. Some people might think about the the route that is even cheaper than PQRV and PQTUV - which comes out to be PSUV (1190).
    However in the context of the question what "next cheaper" means is - Assume PQRV and PQTUV were the cheapest possible options. If you look at this way - then "next cheaper" would mean the 2nd best option that is only slightly costlier than above routes - which is PSTUV(1400)

      i agree with you, but the same should be understood considering the fact that the extra charges will definitely increase the overall cost. So choosing the PSUV path would be completely wrong.

      The point to be noted for question 3 and 4 is that the govt is increasing charges on these routes, this means the charges on the route will increase, and not decrease
      Tho I agree 'next cheaper route' is not clearly stating it's intent

      One more doubt it sir said route is cheaper than the costliest route and suppose along with 1430 and 1400 there was another route costing 1390 then what becomes the answer?

    quite confusing

    Instead of 200+ 20a + 10(a-30) , I tried with 200+ 20*n1+( 30*n2) where n is extra miles tralleved after 30 km for which charge is 30( i.e. 20 + 10( premium) ) n1 is b/w 1 to 30 and afterwards n2, all the questions were solvable with that context as well.

  • @arnoldterry8689
    @arnoldterry8689 2 года назад +14

    22:30 You don't necessarily need to calculate the fare cost for QRUV, it is known the distance is more than QRV and the extra charge remains constant, hence the QRUV route will always be more costlier than QRV route.

      Yes ... If a, b, c, d are routes and are arranged according to value of money in ascending order then .... The next cheaper route after c wiuld be b and similarly for b it would be a.... And we were asked the next cheaper route so we have to assume it as next cheaper to the highest value

      The condition here is that the cost of travelling along PQRV AND PQTUV becomes equal to the cost of travelling along the NEXT CHEAPER ROUTE. As we can see that PQRV is giving us 1040 and PQTUV is giving us 1220 so the bigger amount is 1220 therefore, we will now find the next cheaper route available after 1220, which is 1400 that is PSTUV.
