Unscripted Swar Vistaar in any Raga

- Indian Classical presents an opportunity to every practitioner to delve deeper into its rich raga based repertoire comprising of varied notes. However, it is these very notes, forming the base of every exploration, which remains largely elusive especially when it comes to swar vistaar (weaving a prelude to the presentation of bandish).
I therefore wish to disseminate the way to accomplish the same through a series of notes though taken chronologically at the initial stages and then making the structure more complex as we forge ahead with our exploration.
For the purpose, I have opted for a basic raga, Bhupali, as many can identify with the same and has attempted to throw some light on arranging of notes to come up with your own interpretation.
My intention here is clear, to give you an objective understanding of creating these phrases with the help of notes while adhering to the basic rules of the raga.

Excellent idea of swar vistar in any raag. Thank you very much for giving me knowledge.
A million thanks.I have been searching for this sort of unconventional approach to expanding a raga and today I stumbled upon your vedio. You have opened a new avenue to learn and present the Vistar of any raga. With regards ,Dr.Anil Deshpande (Pune)
Sir - i just realised how fortunate I am! meri ma'am ne jaise mujhe sikhaaya hai, I didn't even know that anything else than pure improvisation is even possible...if people are having to learn pre-scripted phrases and nothing else, then they clearly haven't been doing endless amounts of sapaat and chalan repetitions...if someone does thousands and thousands of repetitions of sapaat and chalan of a raag over a long period of time EVERY DAY without fail, then spontaneous improvisation is merely the next natural step anyway. Dimaag apne aap chalne lagega, vistaar apne aap aayega - no problem....this is how I have been made to learn and then it's easy! our ma'am is truly amazing! thank you for an amazing video yet again Nishant ji!
Very controlled and having clear concept of Indian classical music..

Thank you sir. It was really nice and understandable. Two requests sir.
1. Please explain how can I think of moving around other swars when I am pronouncing a single swar only.
2. Next time please explain this with Yaman.
Thank you very much sir for this wonderful contribution to Indian music.
Nicely explained sir
Keep going sir 😌
Lovely to hear from you Sir ji, this is my favourite topic! I love to come up with my own notes which I keep doing without knowing the exact notes, by just using A O La Na, basically trying to create some tune that goes on in my mind at some moments! Since I am not yet well versed in the notations I am unable to use the exact notes to practice!
Thank you. Waiting for next video
Easier way to Indian classical music through a Mentor like you.. Thanks....

Very nice sir .
Great, sir, why don't you introduce your own Android app for learning.
Thank you Sir. Great lesson indeed. Also please let me know which App you used to play tanpura and swarmandel
This is great. I feel like this is the hardest topic, but this video makes it easier. Can we do one for Jhinjhoti? Thanks!
Very nice. You have provided a framework - rest is up to how we apply what you have taught.
Thank you sir
Fantastic explanation sir ji 👏👏👏👏👏🙏
Great sir
thanks sir so unique
Very useful and accurate information!
Very nice 1
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, really appreciate it. I would love to learn a technique to quickly interpret swars from aalap. Is there any way or it is a matter of years of practicing?
Thank you. I too appreciate. Learn to play a key based instrument, preferably harmonium as it lays the foundation for identifying the base note and basic chord structure to discern the progression of notes. It is all about conscious practice on consistent basis.
Sir plz make a video on taal riyaaj bcz I didn't understand word of taals so when I practice any raag taan and alaap most of the tym i am out of taal
Thank you for sharing. Very helpful.
So in all the ragas the notes which are near to vadi/samwadi takes meend from them(vadi/samwadi)?
I'm very interested to know if this is true, thank you
great it is good and helpfull
Thank you so much Sir for uploading this video it is really very useful for students :-)
Thanks sir very clearly explain.
Sir please can you also make one video about nom tom (dhere na etc)
I requested many people but no one helps.
Thanks in advance ❤️💐
I think the success of your teaching is , you start challenging the intellect and not the throat directly !
Thanks .. I always face this as a challenge to introduce a new note out of nowhere ! Whereas , ( generally ) the introduction should happen in the form of कण swar earlier before it is presented fully .. This is my learning from this video ..
Thanks again .. and keep challenging us !!
Sir... How To Sing A SUDDENLY GIVEN SARGAM PHRASE In SUR... We Can Sing S R G M P D N S .... But If We Are Given PDMDNGSRMDPGNS... We Face A Lot Of TROUBLES & PROBLEMS.... HOW WILL WE BE ABLE TO SEE THE NOTES.... AND SING ACCORDINGLY WHAT OUR MIND Says .... PLZ MAKE A VIDEO ON THIS 🙏🙏🙏...
Love you guruji
Sir please tell me one thing that
Is there is need to remember orgiganl raga pakkad
Or on the basis of aroh avroh you can make your on style pakkad
Will it work?
I paly flute so every time confuse to remember the pakkad of raga
Please sir help me
This question is as interesting as important. ‘Pakad’ of a raga, written anywhere, is only a fixed preliminary introduction of a raga. Since every book mentions a different ‘pakad’, there is no original ‘pakad’ therefore. So, how can we have our own ‘pakad’? Take into account the aroha-avroha and vaadi-samvaadi as well and imagine a set of notes centring around these two prominent notes in particular. You will see a ‘pakad’ emerging on its own. Don’t memorize or write it down as it is not our objective to fix it forever. Enjoy the same and next time when you sit, keep the same points in mind to experience a new set of notes culminating in a new ‘pakad’ this time. This imaginative technique is applicable to vocals and as well as instrument playing, including your flute.
