That’s why defense in the nba is bad. Those who stay in college longer learn discipline.

This is the best I've seen any NBA player address the real issues of college basketball. I especially glad that he brought up freshmen being forced out of programs. If you label yourself a one-and-done player, you have to leave no matter how you play that year. Your replacement has already been signed you you have to leave. There are players who are leaving after their first and second year when they're late 2nd round picks on all of the draft boards.

Damn near a man child to go straight from HS, in a grown man’s body already (even if you still had some filling out to do) then they’d roll the dice. There would be that if you were a big man, at the very least you’d be able to bully your way to the hoop. Whether that’s with size, strength, or athleticism. With guards, they really needed you to be an athletic freak or like generational. They were praying to get a Kobe or (eventually) T-Mac. The only PG I remember leaving early is Telfair. The good teams play good defense. The Spurs played good defense. The Heat played good defense. The Cavs miraculously turned JR Smith into a good defender for one year. Melo is the only freshman to take a team to the title and win it all. Melo and the fab 5 are the only freshman to do what they did, but everyone thinks 18 yr olds are the keys to titles.

That era is done. The NBA never had a rule like the NFL requiring age, colleges could have done name and image 20 years ago, AAU kind of kind competitive culture. College men's will never be great again

Kentucky is not paying Cal for that. Cal no.2 highest paid coach in college. The board is paying him to be like dawn staley, final 4 appearances dam near every year. Cal would have been fired except Kentucky cant afford to 😂

Zach edy has been good before this year. The nba wouldnt draft him early, so he stayed in college. Until coaches stop taking millions to coach and leave, stop talking about players leaving to make money too. Their success and failure should be in their hands too. Just as in college football. If coaches stop making 5-10 mil, and leaving, players would not see it as so hypocritical. Them staying is not to be coached or get experience. .its for the coach to keep winning and keep making lots of money.
