- Forza 6 TV Commercial “Legacy”. Xbox One Exclusive. With the introduction of Forza Motorsport 6, as real as it gets racing, has become a reality. Every pixel and line of code ever written has been leading up to this moment. And the dreams of every game developer and every gamer who's ever made or played a racing game over the past 40-years are finally being realized. With unrelenting action in full HD and state-of-the-art physics at simulation speed and the most cars and tracks of this generation, this is Forza Motorsport 6 and this is what we’ve been racing towards.

2020: This is still one of the greatest ads ive ever seen. I dont think it will be topped any time soon.
NFS 2010 was really good too, but this one takes the cake.

Ads back then were so special, nowadays the ads and the trailers are lame as fuck :(

2023: it is still the best ad for a racing game
I think a lot of people gloss over how much of an audio masterpiece this ad really is. Goes from mono beeps, to 8 bit chiptune, to 8 bit arcade stereo, to 16bit processed synth, to CD Audio, to Dobly Digital
Honestly Id kill for the full version of the remix because its amazing
and the transitions between audio’s are spot on with the games they are referencing

2021: this is still the best ad for a racing game yet. Especially since this was made for TV
0:12 - Gran Trak 10 (Atari) - 1974 - considered the first racing videogame
0:20 - R.C. Pro-Am (Rare) - 1988
0:29 - Pole Position (Atari/Namco) - 1982
0:39 - Chase H.Q. (Taito) - 1988
0:55 - Ridge Racer (Namco) - 1993
Of course there are other games with same aspects like graphics (Outrun, Top Gear, Lotus Espirit Turbo) and sound ( "It is a final lap" is in Need For Speed as well)

2023: STILL THE BEST
I've always been a Gran Turismo guy but I occasionally pop back on RUclips to watch this trailer.
Its great because its a love letter to gaming and shows how far we've come and where racing fans are going... which ever franchise you're a fan of.
After years I returned just to watch this ad again. Had it suddenly in my mind again. Still get goosebumps. I remember how I worked at the Frankfurt car exhibition 2015 (IAA) and this was played on a big screen over and over again. When I came home I immediately googled that spot. Best ad ever!

The Pole Position sample got me. This advert was the first one in my life to actually inspire me to buy something. I bought the Forza edition Xbox one in blue with the engine starting noise when you turn it on. As soon as Microsoft revealed they were bringing the Forza games to PC though I sold it straight away so literally only had it a few months. The advert is amazing still today
It's 2019 and I would still pay almost any amount of money to have a full-length remix of this beautiful song, including old arcade sfx and iconic racing game audio.

What a great commercial. It almost makes me want an Xbox One.
For those who didn't catch it, this commercial parodies classic arcade racing games starting with Speedway, then RC Pro AM, then Pole Position, then Spy Hunter, then Chase H.Q, then OutRun, and then finally the past Forza games.
If you're a retro gamer seeing Chase HQ and OutRun presented like this makes this commercial worth watching even if you have no interest in the Xbone or Forza in general.

After 6 years, I finally looked into the story of this ad - there’s a blog post from “Xbox Wire Staff” detailing it a little bit. For one, they mentioned all the games referenced: “Gran Trak 10 (Atari, 1974), Pole Position (Bandai Namco 1982), RC Pro Am (Rare, 1987), Chase HQ (Taito, 1988), and Ridge Racer (Bandai Namco, 1993).”
They also showed the rig they put a Ford GT prototype up on to photograph for the “past” shots before moving to in-game footage.
Another note I had - in the Pole Position scene, you can see a billboard with the Galaga logo on it, and in the Ridge Racer scene you can see a game of Galaxian going on a screen.

2019 and I am still coming back to watch this ad and wished that all those tracks in the ad were a paid DLC but oh well, game developers have there own way of doing business.
Meh, they're cool but in the game itself, utterly unnecessary. It's a tribute ad to games of old.

I bought this game in 2015 only after I saw this ad and it gave me goosebumps! It is now 2021 and it's still my all time favorite ad and I watch it frequently.

Had it not been for this commercial, the Ford GT wouldn't have become my second favorite dream car. Just seeing how cool this car was made in the ad and seeing how cool of a design it is really gave it a certain kind of awesome.

Absolutely the best ad for a game ever. It hits EVERY spot. Even though I’m just 21, I get chills from hearing Pole Position. Still don’t have the full game though. I’ll buy an XB1X later this year so I can play

Agreed! I can't help but think of other games to include - Chase HQ was genius, but I'd have done Night Driver, Hard Drivin, maybe a glimpse of Super Sprint after Pole Position, and Spyhunter somewhere.

I did get that bundle - gave it to my nephew this past Christmas...
I did not notice it was a forza trailer because when i saw this on my tv i thought oh cool classic video games to modern. Cool i guess, now its like man from an old 2d racing game to real cars racing on real tracks that look really friendly good. The attention to detail is that good.

2021 still good
As someone who grew up with this game, I think the original Gran Turismo deserved to be featured here amongst the classic racing games. We can’t ignore how huge it was for it’s time. And without GT, Xbox wouldn’t have had reason to make Forza!

I’ve never seen this commercial but one very similar (went from 8 bit to realistic throughout the ad) but they are both great!
Unfortunately, no, I don’t remember what the other ad was for. It had cars, I think a blue one and orange one, progressing from 8-bit to modern with all the steps in between. The commercial _may_ have been for something similar to Hotwheels AI and Anki Overdrive, but again I don’t remember it too well.
