I've always been a Gran Turismo guy but I occasionally pop back on RUclips to watch this trailer. Its great because its a love letter to gaming and shows how far we've come and where racing fans are going... which ever franchise you're a fan of.
After years I returned just to watch this ad again. Had it suddenly in my mind again. Still get goosebumps. I remember how I worked at the Frankfurt car exhibition 2015 (IAA) and this was played on a big screen over and over again. When I came home I immediately googled that spot. Best ad ever!
The Pole Position sample got me. This advert was the first one in my life to actually inspire me to buy something. I bought the Forza edition Xbox one in blue with the engine starting noise when you turn it on. As soon as Microsoft revealed they were bringing the Forza games to PC though I sold it straight away so literally only had it a few months. The advert is amazing still today

For one, they mentioned all the games referenced: “Gran Trak 10 (Atari, 1974), Pole Position (Bandai Namco 1982), RC Pro Am (Rare, 1987), Chase HQ (Taito, 1988), and Ridge Racer (Bandai Namco, 1993).” They also showed the rig they put a Ford GT prototype up on to photograph for the “past” shots before moving to in-game footage. Another note I had - in the Pole Position scene, you can see a billboard with the Galaga logo on it, and in the Ridge Racer scene you can see a game of Galaxian going on a screen.
I bought this game in 2015 only after I saw this ad and it gave me goosebumps! It is now 2021 and it's still my all time favorite ad and I watch it frequently.
2019 and I am still coming back to watch this ad and wished that all those tracks in the ad were a paid DLC but oh well, game developers have there own way of doing business.

For those who didn't catch it, this commercial parodies classic arcade racing games starting with Speedway, then RC Pro AM, then Pole Position, then Spy Hunter, then Chase H.Q, then OutRun, and then finally the past Forza games. If you're a retro gamer seeing Chase HQ and OutRun presented like this makes this commercial worth watching even if you have no interest in the Xbone or Forza in general. Like I said, what a great commercial.
Absolutely the best ad for a game ever. It hits EVERY spot. Even though I’m just 21, I get chills from hearing Pole Position. Still don’t have the full game though. I’ll buy an XB1X later this year so I can play

Had it not been for this commercial, the Ford GT wouldn't have become my second favorite dream car. Just seeing how cool this car was made in the ad and seeing how cool of a design it is really gave it a certain kind of awesome.
I’ve never seen this commercial but one very similar (went from 8 bit to realistic throughout the ad) but they are both great! Unfortunately, no, I don’t remember what the other ad was for. It had cars, I think a blue one and orange one, progressing from 8-bit to modern with all the steps in between. The commercial _may_ have been for something similar to Hotwheels AI and Anki Overdrive, but again I don’t remember it too well.
As someone who grew up with this game, I think the original Gran Turismo deserved to be featured here amongst the classic racing games. We can’t ignore how huge it was for it’s time. And without GT, Xbox wouldn’t have had reason to make Forza!

Heheh. Odd story of coincidence. My original xbox had 'Danger! High Voltage' on it's hard drive. And I'd very often listen to it whilst playing the original forza. So it's a weird feeling how they chose that song for the advert for a forza game made ten years later.
This game was way ahead of its time.. it’s much better than FM7 graphics and small detail wise. Songs are good ad is good. EVERYTHING IS GOOD I miss good games. FM7 came out in 2017. While FM6 Came out in 2015
