The process is correct, but China only has soap in modern times. In ancient times, China used a mixture of pig pancreas and plant ash or water soaked with Chinese honey locust's seed as a cleaning agent.
As a soap maker and fan of history, I can tell you this isnt the soap they made anywhere in asia. They made ashen soaps that were a slurry in form, not a solid bar.

Can you give me for recipe soap? I have plenty of lard as fat bacon grease, wood ash and course salt, but something of one is missing from you. What is about dry citrus powder? Can I add it to mix in homemade soap?
I believe it’s shell ash, hard wood ash, animal fat rendered into oil, salt. Could one also add essential oil? The timings of each thing are not clear though and I’d like to know.
Hello! i am interested in this video! however, i cannot read the language! can someone tell me what materials he is using? and perhaps explain how this works?
I cant really read the characters either 😭😭😭😭 but hes crushing the clam shells because they contain calcium carbonate which is a base. Then he burns some twigs to produce ash which is also a base. Then ig he extracts out the base to get just the solution without any of the shell fragments or ash. He cuts up some fatty tissues and cooks it in water so the fat can be collected. Then the basic solution and fat is mixed and salt is added to harden the mixture to form soap because soap is made from an oil or fat and a base. Then he left in the bamboo so when it is finished hardening its a log shaped ready to be cut into soap cakes
You are incorrect. Plant ash makes the lye needed to make soap. Baking soda is not the right ingredient, won’t make soap. You cannot stir soap with your hands-your hands would be burned by the lye (plant ash) in the soap.
Just search wood ash soap, the technology from all the work remind the same, its only different by how you chose the indigent for replace something chemistry.

It’s pork fat with a few bits of actual meat in it. The other part is the part of lard that you can’t use. They look like meat but is just fried pork fat. It can be used in food dishes or given to the animals.
Adding salt makes a hard soap as opposed to a softer more liquid soap. Wood Ash soap tends to be a bit soft so the salt helps harden it. Sodium lactate is another option.
eggshells or seashells are calcium carbonate. when you burn them it becomes calcium oxide. when you then add water it becomes calcium hydroxide, a strong base
As natural soap maker, I could tell this process is legit. Greetings from Jakarta😊
