  • I look at horses teeth quite frequently. You can learn a lot about a horse by knowing what to look for. You can tell their age and check if they need to be floated. Not everyone knows that horses need their teeth floated. It's a process that removes "hooks" and other uneven conditions that interfere's with the chewing process, and horses can't grind the feed well enough and it causes them loose weight.

At what age, such a procedure for the horse teeth already can have a reason to do??? May it be to make it for 2 year old horse already??? Thanks.

They won't need floated till after their adult nippers are in, at age 5. At 2, the front nippers are all baby teeth. Thanks for watching.

@@RockinJFarrier about front neepers it is clear, thanks. But as I understood, those shewing teeth need to be floated, not neepers. At 2 years old horse those teeth are also baby teeth? I have 4 horses. One 11 y.o., 6 y.o., 3.5 y.o. and 2 y.o.
I have had a horse dentist occasionaly without equipment and he said, that all my horses need a dentist check, so next time he will come with equipment. But I worry if the 3.5 y.o. horse and 2 y.o. horse is too early to check and get teeth floated? Also want to mention, that 3.5 y.o. loose much oats on the ground while eating... The 6 y.o. horse is pregnant, is it Ok to treat her? please, advise! Thanks.

@@Alex-horsman The 3.5 yr old will have adult nippers in the center top and bottom. Look at the next 4 nipper teeth. They come in adult when 4 yrs old. He could have a baby tooth the is not getting pushed out and the adult tooth is coming in behind or in front of the baby tooth. They are just caps and I can usually pull that baby tooth with pliers. That is usually the problem.

@@Alex-horsman Floating the preg mare shouldn’t be a problem.

Honestly I'd be far more impressed with a video that showed how to make the actual nail

There are probably videos on that. I don't have the time to master that.
